Mechanical behavior of sliding zone soil under compression considering periodic saturation-drying: example from a giant reservoir landslide

The reservoir landslide undergoes periodic saturation-drying cycles affected by reservoir fluctuation in hydropower project area， leading to the irreversible impact on the landslide materials. Sliding zone is the shearing part in formation of landslide and controls the further development of landslide. The mechanical behavior of sliding zone soil under compression is a crucial factor in the stability analysis in landslide. In this paper， the sliding zone soil from a giant landslide in the biggest hydropower project area， Three Gorges area， is taken as the research case. The particle-size distribution of the sliding zone soil from this landslide is studied and fractal dimension is adopted as representation. Periodic saturation-drying is introduced as the affecting factor on sliding zone soil properties. The triaxial compression test is conducted to reveal the mechanical behavior of the soil， including stress-strain behavior， elastic modulus， failure stress and strength parameters. These behavior of sliding zone soils with different fractal dimensions are studied under the effects of periodic saturation-drying cycles. The normalized stress-strain curves are displayed for further calculation. The data considering saturation-drying cycles are obtained and compared with the experimental results.

Background and purpose Cortical superficial siderosis(cSS)and cerebral microbleed(CMB)have distinct effects on intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH).We aim to investigate the combined effect of cSS and CMB on outcomes after *** Based on a single-centre stroke registry database,patients with spontaneous ICH who had CT scan within 48 hours after ictus and MRI subsequently were *** patients were divided into four groups(cSS-CMB−,cSS-CMB+,cSS+CMB−,cSS+CMB+)according to cSS and CMB on susceptibility-weighted image of *** outcomes were haematoma volume on admission and unfavourable outcome defined as modified Rankin Scale scores≥3 at 3 *** outcomes were all-cause death,recurrence of stroke and ICH during follow-up(median follow-up 2.0 years,IQR 1.0-3.0 years).Results A total of 673 patients were identified from 1044 patients with spontaneous ICH.131(19.5%)had cSS and 468(69.5%)had *** with cSS+CMB+had the highest rate of poor outcome at 3 months,as well as all-cause death,recurrent stroke and ICH during *** cSS−patients,CMB was associated with smaller haematoma(β−0.13;95%CI−0.22 to−0.03;p=0.009),but it still increased risks of recurrent ICH(OR 4.6;95%CI 1.3 to 15.6;p=0.015)and stroke(OR 2.0;95%CI 1.0 to 4.0;p=0.049).These effects of CMB became unremarkable in the context of cSS+.Conclusions Patients with different combinations of cSS and CMB have distinct patterns of short-term and long-term *** CMB is related to restrained haematoma,it does not improve long-term outcomes.

Comparison of Nutrition Practices, Knowledge and Exercise between Pregnant Women in China and Zambia

Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare how Chinese and Zambian pregnant women respond to nutrition and exercise. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with data that was conducted in Chingola City, Zambia, and Hangzhou City, China, using an online survey between September 1, 2023 and February 28, 2024. The subjects were divided into two groups (the China group and the Zambia group) according to their nationality. Results: A total of 210 participants were included through a questionnaire survey, 104 from China and 106 from Zambia. In terms of nutrient supplementation and whether to choose takeout weekly, 100% of Chinese pregnant women chose yes, while 100% of Zambian pregnant women chose no (P 0.05). The proportion of pregnant women in the China group choosing moderate or intense activities was higher than that in the Zambia group. In terms of daily exercise time, the proportion of Chinese pregnant women choosing 13 - 30 minutes or 30 - 60 minutes was significantly higher than that of Zambian pregnant women (P Conclusion: From the findings in our study, it can be observed that although pregnancy is an experience that many women may go through, lifestyle habits during pregnancy can vary from culture to culture or ethnicity.

以大连实际工程为背景,通过振动台试验研究了双隧道-砂土-桥桩系统在地震作用下的动力相互作用(SSSI),得到结构、场地的动力响应规律,并与ABAQUS数值模拟结果进行对比。数值模型引入Kelvin本构模型子程序,利用等效线性方法处理砂土在计算过程中的非线性问题。将试验结果与数值模拟结果进行对比,验证了数值模拟的可靠性。在此基础上设计了8种工况,通过对比分析研究了体系内各结构之间的相互作用规律。结果表明,隧道会放大桥桩、临近隧道的峰值加速度,而桥桩却会对侧穿隧道的峰值加速度起到减弱作用;隧道与桥桩的存在均会增大彼此的截面剪力与弯矩,其中受影响的区域主要集中在隧道上下拱,桥桩的桩底与桩-土交界面。
