Tissue engineering approaches have emerged recently to circumvent many limitations associated with current clinical *** elegant approach utilizes a natural/synthetic biomaterial with optimized physiomechanical properties to serve as a vehicle for delivery of exogenous stem cells and bioactive factors or induce local recruitment of endogenous cells for in situ tissue *** by the natural microenvironment,biomaterials could act as a biomimetic three-dimensional(3D)structure to help the cells establish their natural *** a strategy should not only employ a biocompatible biomaterial to induce new tissue formation but also benefit from an easily accessible and abundant source of stem cells with potent tissue regenerative *** human teeth and oral cavity harbor various populations of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)with self-renewing and multilineage differentiation *** the current review article,we seek to highlight recent progress and future opportunities in dental MSC-mediated therapeutic strategies for tissue regeneration using two possible approaches,cell transplantation and cell ***,this paper develops a general picture of current innovative strategies to employ dental-derived MSCs combined with biomaterials and bioactive factors for regenerating the lost or defective tissues and offers information regarding the available scientific data and possible applications.

Three-point bending tests were carried out on nineteen Reinforced Concrete(RC)beams strengthened with FRP in the form of completely *** strip width to spacing ratios,FRP type,shear span to effective depth ratios,the number of FRP layers in shear,and the effect of stirrups spacing were the parameters investigated in the experimental *** FRP contribution to strength on beams having the same strip width to spacing ratios could be affected by the shear span to effective depth ratios and stirrups *** FRP contributions to strength were less on beams with stirrups in comparison to the tested beams without *** RC beams using FRP could change the failure modes of the beams compared to the reference *** addition to the experimental study,a number of equations used to predict the FRP contribution to the shear strength of the strengthened RC beams were assessed by using a limited number of beams available in the *** effective FRP strain is predicted by using test results,and this prediction is used to calculate the FRP contribution to shear strength in ACI 440.2R(2017)*** on the statistical values of the data,the proposed equation has the lowest coefficient of variation(COV)value than the other equations.

Aim of the present in vitro study is to evaluate the radiopacity levels of composite resins with various shades and viscosity.10 mm×2 mm discs were prepared from 7 condensable and 4 flowable composites(n=10).An aluminum step wedge ranging from 2.0 to 10.0 mm in thickness was placed on the occlusal *** radiographs were taken using a dental X-ray device and radiographic densities of each step of the aluminum wedge and the samples were recorded to the *** readings were taken and means were ***-Way Anova and Tamhane post hoc tests were *** G-eanial Posterior has the highest radiopacity value followed by Filtek Z550,Aelite Flo has the lowest radiopacity *** composites show higher radiopacity and flowable composites with higher filler loadings have superior radiopacity levels to condensable *** and body shades of the composite brands have also statistically significant differences in radiopacity ***,radiopacity level of a composite resin material is not affected by the size of fillers;however,the composition,shape and loading of the fillers can specify the radiodensity.

We explore new asymptotic-numeric solvers for partial differential equations with highly oscillatory forcing terms. Such methods represent the solution as an asymptotic series, whose terms can be evaluated by solving non-oscillatory problems and they guarantee high accuracy at a low computational cost. We consider two forms of oscillatory forcing terms, namely when the oscillation is in time or in space： each lends itself to different treatment. Numerical examples highlight the salient features of the new approach.

Soil chronosequence and biosequence on old lake sediments of the Burdur Lake in Turkey

The Burdur Lake is located in the southwest of Turkey,and its area has decreased by 40% from 211 km^(2) in 1975 to 126 km^(2) in *** this study,we investigated how the soil has changed in the lacustrine *** soil profiles were sampled from the former lakebed(chronosequence profiles:P1,2007;P2,1994;and P3,1975),and three soil profiles under different land use types(biosequence profiles:P4,native forest vegetation;P5,agriculture;and P6,lakebed)were *** chronosequence and biosequence soil profiles represented various distances from the Burdur Lake and showed different stages of lacustrine *** electrical conductivity(EC;18.1 to 0.4 dS m^(-1)),exchangeable Na^(+)(34.7 to 1.4 cmol kg^(-1))and K^(+)(0.61 to 0.56 cmol kg^(-1)),and water-soluble Cl^(-)(70.3 to 2.1 cmol L^(-1))and SO_(4)^(2-)(275.9 to 25.0 cmol L^(-1))decreased with increasing distance from the Burdur Lake,whereas the A horizon thickness(10 to 48 cm),structure formation(0 to 48 cm),gleization-oxidation depth(0 to 79 cm),and montmorillonite and organic matter(OM;25.9 to 46.0 g kg^(-1))contents increased in the chronosequence soil *** formation of P3 in the chronosequence and P5 in the biosequence soil profiles increased due to longer exposure to pedogenic processes(time,land use,vegetation,etc.).Changes in EC,exchangeable cation(Na^(+) and K^(+))and water-soluble anion(Cl^(-) and SO_(4)^(2-))concentrations of the salt-enriched horizon,OM,gleization-oxidation depth,A horizon thickness,and structure formation of the chronosequence and biosequence soil profiles(especially the topsoil horizon)were highly related to the distance from the Burdur Lake,time,and land use.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a chronic liver disorder that is increasing in prevalence with the worldwide epidemic of obesity. NAFLD is the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. The term NAFLD describes a spectrum of liver pathology ranges from simple steatosis to steatosis with inflammation nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and even cirrhosis. Metabolic syndrome and NAFLD also predict hepatocellular carcinoma. Many genetic and environmental factors have been suggested to contribute to the development of obesity and NAFLD, but the exact mechanisms are not known. Intestinal ecosystem contains trillions of microorganisms including bacteria, Archaea, yeasts and viruses. Several studies support the relationship between the intestinal microbial changes and obesity and also its complications, including insulin resistance and NAFLD. Given that the gut and liver are connected by the portal venous system, it makes the liver more vulnerable to translocation of bacteria, bacterial products, endotoxins or secreted cytokines. Altered intestinal microbiota(dysbiosis) may stimulate hepatic fat deposition through several mechanisms: regulation of gut permeability, increasing low-grade inflammation, modulation of dietary choline metabolism, regulation of bile acid metabolism and producing endogenous ethanol. Regulation of intestinal microbial ecosystem by diet modifications or by using probiotics and prebiotics as a treatment for obesity and its complications might be the issue of further investigations.

A Novel Contour Tracing Algorithm for Object Shape Reconstruction Using Parametric Curves

Parametric curves such as Bézier and B-splines, originally developedfor the design of automobile bodies, are now also used in image processing andcomputer vision. For example, reconstructing an object shape in an image,including different translations, scales, and orientations, can be performedusing these parametric curves. For this, Bézier and B-spline curves can be generatedusing a point set that belongs to the outer boundary of the object. Theresulting object shape can be used in computer vision fields, such as searchingand segmentation methods and training machine learning algorithms. Theprerequisite for reconstructing the shape with parametric curves is to obtainsequentially the points in the point set. In this study, a novel algorithm hasbeen developed that sequentially obtains the pixel locations constituting theouter boundary of the object. The proposed algorithm, unlike the methods inthe literature, is implemented using a filter containing weights and an outercircle surrounding the object. In a binary format image, the starting point ofthe tracing is determined using the outer circle, and the next tracing movementand the pixel to be labeled as the boundary point is found by the filter ***, control points that define the curve shape are selected by reducing thenumber of sequential points. Thus, the Bézier and B-spline curve equationsdescribing the shape are obtained using these points. In addition, differenttranslations, scales, and rotations of the object shape are easily provided bychanging the positions of the control points. It has also been shown that themissing part of the object can be completed thanks to the parametric curves.

Lithium ion batteries（LIBs） are currently best energy storage devices providing rechargeable electrical storage to wide variety of applications – from portable electronics to automobiles. Though, these batteries are fully adopted, widely used and commercialized, but researchers are still extensively working on their constituent materials and developing technology to improve their performance. A major part of related research activities is devoted to the electrode of the battery for improvement in its performance thereby addressing issues like safety, lifetime, specific capacity, energy density and most importantly abundance and cost. There are number of cathode materials that have been proposed and tested at laboratory scale and subsequently utilized in commercialized batteries ever since the appearance of LIBs. Owing to the availability of improved computational resources in the last decade, first principles calculation has become a reliable tool and played a vital role to predict the material properties of electrodes prior to their experimental analysis. This review gives a comprehensive insight and thorough analysis of the global research efforts related to the cathode materials based on first principles framework, sheds light on current status of knowledge and explores the ways forward.
