In this paper, we present the results from high-resolution numerical simulations of three heavy rainfall events over the Korean Peninsula. The numerical results show that the prediction accuracy for heavy rainfall events improved as horizontal resolution increased. The fine-grid precipitation fields were much closer to the real precipitation fields in the case of large synoptic forcing over the Korean Peninsula. In the case of large convective available potential energy and weak synoptic forcing, it seems that even when using a high resolution, the models still showed poor performance in reproducing the observed high precipitation amounts. However, activation of the cumulus parameterization scheme in the intermediate resolution of 9 km, even at a grid spacing of 3 km, had a positive impact on the simulation of the heavy rainfall event.

It is difficult to solve the structural problems related to agricultural engineering,due to the wide ranges of the means of related variables and complex structural *** these reasons,discrete models are required that are able to replace or simplify solid structure components used in traditional analysis ***,the objective of this study was to develop a regular truss structure model that behaves the same way as a solid *** was assumed that if a unit element consists of truss elements with each hinge at the end of the element and the size of the element is infinitesimal,the stress distribution and displacement field will be constant throughout the domain of the unit ***,the behavior of the truss element was assumed to be in a linear state in a two-dimensional *** law of energy conservation,based on the theory of elasticity,was applied to determine the equilibrium conditions between discretized and solid *** restrictive condition that we obtained revealed that applications are limited to only ideal elastic materials with a Poisson’s ratio of 1 to *** volumetric ratio of the equivalent truss to the continuum structures was 3:1,regardless of the size or number of the *** calculate the internal stress and strain of the unit element,the geometric relationships of each truss member,which has its own role against different stress directions,were *** calculated von Misses stresses were used to verify this *** concentrations,as explained based on Saint Venant’s principle,were also observed in the equivalent truss structure *** main stress paths,indicating the areas where reinforcement bars should be placed,were successfully shown without the requirement that each element be transformed in the direction of principal stress;this was done by eliminating elements with only compressive and near-zero stresses.

Deep Learning Approach for Cosmetic Product Detection and Classification

As the amount of online video content is increasing,consumers are becoming increasingly interested in various product names appearing in videos,particularly in cosmetic-product names in videos related to fashion,beauty,and ***,the identification of such products by using image recognition technology may aid in the identification of current commercial *** this paper,we propose a two-stage deep-learning detection and classification method for cosmetic ***,variants of the YOLO network are used for detection,where the bounding box for each given input product is predicted and subsequently cropped for *** use four state-of-the-art classification networks,namely ResNet,InceptionResNetV2,DenseNet,and EfficientNet,and compare their ***,we employ dilated convolution in these networks to obtain better feature representations and improve *** experiments demonstrate that YOLOv3 and its tiny version achieve higher speed and ***,the dilated networks marginally outperform the base models,or achieve similar performance in the worst *** conclude that the proposed method can effectively detect and classify cosmetic products.

Cooling function is definitely one of the most desirable attributes of clothing. In spite of the recent progress on phase changing material （PCM） research, the final products with sufficient amount of cooling capability have not yet to be developed in market. A new concept of cooling fabrics has been proposed by applying ＂Peltier effect＂ to textile materials. It occurs whenever electrical current flows through two dissimilar conductors t depending on the direction of current flow, the junction of the two conductors will either absorb or release heat. This effect has been tested on P-type and N-type conducting polymers. A P-type conductive polypyrrole coated fabric was synthesized by in- situ polymerization on plain weave PET to make conductive fabrics. And an *** electrically conductive material was synthesized by treatment of MWNT and polyethyleneimine （PEI）. A noticeable amount of temperature difference has been found in the fabric.

The thermal-environment characteristics of the existing forced-convection cooling system were compared with those of the convective cooling system, which combined the radiant-floor cooling system using floor-heating panel typically applied to apartments in South Korea with the forced-convection cooling system using improved fan coil unit. The subjective warm/cool-feeling responses to the combined radiant-floor and convective cooling system in the questionnaire survey conducted among the test subjects were analyzed to establish the basic data for the combined cooling system. The results show that in the thermal-equilibrium condition, the vertical air temperature difference in the model living room is larger in the forced-convection-cooling condition. Most of the subjects feel a proper warm/cool feeling on their entire body, but they feel colder on the foot and lower body in the combined-cooling condition.

With the slowing down of the Moore’s law and fundamental limitations due to the von-Neumann bottleneck,continued improvements in computing hardware performance become increasingly more *** switching(RS)devices are being extensively studied as promising candidates for next generation memory and computing applications due to their fast switching speed,excellent endurance and retention,and scaling and three-dimensional(3D)stacking *** particular,RS devices offer the potential to natively emulate the functions and structures of synapses and neurons,allowing them to efficiently implement neural networks(NNs)and other in-memory computing systems for data intensive applications such as machine learning *** this review,we will examine the mechanisms of RS effects and discuss recent progresses in the application of RS devices for memory,deep learning accelerator,and more faithful brain-inspired computing *** and possible solutions at the device,algorithm,and system levels will also be discussed.

In environmental risk assessments（ERA）, biomarkers have been widely used as an early warning signal of environmental contamination. However, biomarker responses have limitation due to its low relevance to adverse outcomes（e.g., fluctuations in community structure, decreases in population size, and other similar ecobiologically relevant indicators of community structure and function）. To mitigate these limitations, the concept of adverse outcome pathways（AOPs） was developed. An AOP is an analytical, sequentially progressive pathway that links a molecular initiating event（MIE） to an adverse outcome. Recently, AOPs have been recognized as a potential informational tool by which the implications of molecular biomarkers in ERA can be better understood. To demonstrate the utility of AOPs in biomarker-based ERA, here we discuss a series of three different biological repercussions caused by exposure to benzo（a）pyrene（Ba P）, silver nanoparticles（Ag NPs）, and selenium（Se）. Using mainly aquatic invertebrates and selected vertebrates as model species, we focus on the development of the AOP concept. Aquatic organisms are suitable bioindicator species whose entire lifespans can be observed over a short period; moreover, these species can be studied on the molecular and population ***, interspecific differences between aquatic organisms are important to consider in an AOP framework, since these differences are an integral part of the natural *** development of an environmental pollutant-mediated AOP may enable a better understanding of the effects of environmental pollutants in different scenarios in the diverse community of an ecosystem.

Emulating periodic main wing movement of a bird for generating lift and thrust remains a significant challenge in developing a robotic *** sequences of main wing motion are comprised of flapping,folding,bending,and *** this paper,we concentrate on the flapping and folding motion,and design two wing mechanisms based on a 4-bar linkage structure:one is only for Flapping Motion(FM)and the other is for simultaneous Flapping and Folding Motion(FFM)during a wing *** derive relationships between length and angle of links to analyze kinematic characteristics of the mechanisms and conduct an optimization to select the length parameters of links that allow maximization of the flapping *** run a simulation to confirm the performance of the optimized parameters by examining physical properties,and fabricate two wing mechanisms *** particular,the folding motion is achieved without using an additional *** measurements to investigate a lift profile of each mechanism and their quantitative comparison of the performance of both types confirm the benefits of the folding motion in the perspectives of wing frequency and *** expect that our kinematic formulation,design procedures,and comparative measurement results can help develop a wing mechanism to create a truly biomimetic robotic bird.

AIM:To identify molecular biologic differences between two gastric adenocarcinoma subgroups presenting different prognoses through the analysis of microRNA and protein ***:Array technologies were used to generate1146 microRNAs and 124 proteins expression profiles of samples from 60 patients with gastric *** the integrative analysis,we used established mRNA expression data published in our previous *** mRNA expression levels were acquired from microarray data for 60 identical gastric cancer *** gastric adenocarcinoma subgroups with distinct mRNA expression profiles presented distinctly different *** and protein expression patterns were compared between gastric cancer tissue and normal gastric tissue and between two different prognostic *** expressed microRNA,associated mRNA,and protein in patients with poor-prognosis gastric cancer were validated by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunochemistry in independent ***:We obtained the expression data of 1146microRNAs and 124 cancer-related *** microRNAs were aberrantly expressed in the two prognostic groups and in cancer vs non-cancer tissues(P<0.05).In the poor-prognosis group,miR-196b,miR-135b,and miR-93 were up-regulated and miR-29c*was ***-196b expression positively correlated with Homeobox A10(HOXA10)expression(r=0.726,P<0.001),which was significantly increased in poor-prognosis patients(P<0.001).Comparing gastric cancer with non-cancer tissues,46/124 proteins showed differential expression(P<0.05);COX2(P<0.001)and cyclin B1(P=0.017)were clearly overexpressed in the poor-prognosis ***:Co-activation of miR-196b and HOXA10characterized a poor-prognosis subgroup of patients with gastric *** of the biologic function of miR-196b and HOXA10 is warranted.
