In this editorial we comment on the article published in the recent issue of the W orld Journal of *** focus specifically on the problem of occult hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,that is a result of previous hepatitis B(PHB)and a source for reactivation of *** prevalence of PHB is underestimated due to the lack of population testing ***,this condition not only com-plicate anticancer treatment,but may be responsible for the development of other diseases,like cancer or autoimmune *** we unveil possible mecha-nisms responsible for realization of these processes and suggest practical approa-ches for diagnosis and treatment.

X-ray powder diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy,thermogravimetry,differential scanning calorimetry,and mass spectrometry have been used to study the products of nickel-containing pyrrhotite tailings oxidation by oxygen in the *** kinetic triplets of oxidation,namely,activation energy(E_(a)),pre-exponential factor(A),and reaction model(f(α))being a function of the conversion degree(α),were adjusted by regression *** case of a two-stage process representation,the first step proceeds under autocatalysis control and ends atα=*** kinetic triplet in the first step is E_(a)=262.2 kJ/mol,lg A=14.53 s^(−1),and f(α)=(1-α)^(4.11)(1+1.51×10^(-4)α).For the second step,the process is controlled by the two-dimensional diffusion of the reactants in the layer of oxidation *** kinetic triplet in the second step isЕa=215.0 kJ/mol,lg A=10.28 s^(−1),and f(α)=(-ln(1-α))^(-1).The obtained empirical formulae for the rate of pyrrhotite tailings oxidation reliably describe the macro-mechanism of the process and can be used to design automatization systems for roast-ing these materials.

near-IR(wavelength≈1μm)laser ablation of bulk,chemically-inert gold in water was compared for different laser pulse width in broad the range of 300 fs–100 ns,comparing a number of key ablation characteristics:mass loss,singleshot crater volume and extinction coefficient of the generated colloidal solutions taken in the spectral ranges of interband transitions and localized plasmon *** to related air-based ablation results,at the given fluences laser ablation in the liquid resulted in the maximum ablation yield per unit energy and maximum nP yield per pulse and per unit energy for the picosecond lasers,occurring at subcritical peak pulse powers for laser *** self-focusing effect was demonstrated to yield in incomplete,effectively weaker focusing in the water filaments of ultrashort laser pulses with supercritical peak powers,comparing to linear(geometrical)focusing at sub-critical peak *** the other,nanosecondpulse extreme the high ablation yield per pulse,but low ablation yield per unit energy and low nP yield per pulse and per unit energy were related to strong ablation plasma screening,providing mass removal according to the well-established scaling relationships for *** comparison of the ablation and nanoparticle generation efficiency versus the broad fs–ns laser pulse width range was enabled in terms of productivity,economicity,and ergonomicity,using the proposed universal quantitative criteria.

Surgical outcomes in inferior recurrences of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

AIM:To analyze the anatomical and functional outcomes in the inferior recurrences of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)depending on the surgical ***:Eighty-one eyes of 81 patients(47 males and 34 females with a mean age of 54.8±14.1y)who demonstrated at least one inferior recurrence of RRD were included in this retrospective *** patients were categorized as having received either circular scleral buckling(SB),pars plana vitrectomy(PPV),a combination of SB and PPV(SB+PPV),PPV with retinotomy(PPV+RT),or PPV+RT and short-term postoperative perfluorocarbon liquid tamponade(PPV+RT+pPFCL).All cases were followed up until successful retinal reattachment or third *** primary outcome measures were the achievement of the surgical goal without recurrence of RRD and bestcorrected visual acuity(BCVA).RESULTS:After the treatment of the first recurrence,the recurrence rate in the PPV+SB group was statistically significantly lower than that of the PPV(P=0.0012),PPV+RT(P=0.028),or PPV+RT+pPFCL(P=0.047)*** was no statistically significant difference between PPV+SB,PPV+RT,and PPV+RT+pPFCL groups in the recurrence rate after treatment of the second recurrence(42 eyes).However,there was a statistically significant(P=0.016)trend towards a decrease of recurrence rate after PPV+RT+*** was no statistically significant improvement of BCVA in either study group(P>0.05)after both first and second recurrence *** mean time follow-up was 109.0±91.0d before the first recurrence and 210.0±186.6d between previous surgery at second ***:Patients with first inferior recurrence of RRD may benefit from SB as an adjunct to *** and short-term pPFCL tamponade in the second recurrence may allow better anatomical outcomes,however,without functional improvement.

AIM: To assess the possibility of non-invasive screening of atrophic chronic gastritis for preventing further development of gastric ***: One hundred and seventy-eight consecutive Helicobacter pylori ( H pylori)-positive dyspeptic patients after detection of serum levels of pepsinogen-1 (PG-1) and gastrin-17 (G-17) by enzyme immunoassay were proposed for endoscopy and histology. The serologic and morphologic results were compared with estimating the sensitivity, specificity and prognostic values of the ***: There was statistically significant reverse dependence between the grade of stomach mucosal antral or corpus atrophy and the proper decreasing of serum G17 or PG1 levels. The serologic method was quite sensitive in the diagnosis of non-atrophic and severe antral and corpus gastritis. Also, it was characterized by the high positive and negative prognostic ***: Detection of serum G-17 and PG1 levels can be offered as the screening tool for atrophic gastritis. The positive serologic results require further chromoendoscopy with mucosal biopsy, for revealing probable progressing of atrophic process with development of intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia or gastric cancer.
