Introduction: Seizures are common in the pediatric age group, occurring approximately 10% of children. Hypocalcemia is one of the most common metabolic causes of afebrile seizures. The objective of the study was to determine the frequency of hypocalcemic fits in children presenting with the first episode of afebrile seizures from 2 months to 2 years of age. Methods: The study was conducted at the Aga Khan hospital Karachi and its three secondary hospitals including the following sites of Kharadar, Hyderabad, and garden. It was a cross-sectional study. The duration of the study was of 6 months from 18th July 2017 to 18th Jan. 2018. All patients who fulfill the inclusion criteria and visited the Pediatric medicine Department of Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi, and its secondary hospitals were included in the study after ethical approval and informed and written consent. A brief history was taken, clinical examination was done and serum calcium level was sent to the institutional laboratory to reach the outcome i.e. hypocalcemic fits. Result: A total of 85 children presenting with the first episode of afebrile seizures were included. Total of 45 patients (52.98%) were males & 40 patients 2 (47.1%) were females with the mean age were 10.5824 ± 6.84907 months. The hypocalcemic fits were seen in 21 children (24.7%). Discussion: H

Background: Approximately 15 million babies are born premature (before 37 weeks of gestation) and 1 million babies die due to prematurity complications every year. Less is known about risk factors of prematurity in middle and low-income countries. The prevalence of prematurity ranges from 5% - 18%. Objective: To determine the prevalence of premature births and to assess the rate of survival, along with the morbidity, among preterm newborns. Furthermore, to document our experience with different gestational age groups of preterm births;and to analyze the association among these strata and their clinical outcomes. Study Design: A descriptive study. Place and Duration of Study: The Aga Khan Maternal and Childcare Centre Hyderabad, Pakistan, from 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2018. Methodology: All pregnant women registered at the obstetric clinic before 24 weeks of gestation having at least three subsequent visits at the same clinic were included in the study. The women who were lost to follow up before completing three visits were excluded from the study. All un-booked women were also excluded from the study. Background: Meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) in the newborn is characterized by hypoxia, hypercapnia, and acidosis. MAS is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in neonates. The primary objective of this study was to estimate the frequency of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAP) in babies born with meconium-stained liquor. The secondary outcome was to estimate the meconium aspiration syndrome;in terms of hospital stay, complications, and mortality. Methods: The study was done at Aga Khan Maternal and Child Care Centre, Hyderabad, Pakistan. Study design was case series and the duration of the study was of 6 months. All patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study after taking informed written consent. A brief history was taken, clinical examination was done and laboratory investigations were sent to the institutional laboratory. Study outcomes were measured from this data i.e. MAS, its complications, mortality, and a number of days in the hospital. Results: A total of 87 babies born with meconium-stained liquor at secondary care hospital were included. A total of 45 patients (52%) were males and 42 patients (48%) were females with a mean gestational age of babies 38.896 ± 1.210 weeks. The mean Apgar score at 5 minutes was 8.896 ±

Synchrophasor devices guarantee situation awareness for real-time monitoring and operational visibility of smart grid. With their widespread implementation,significant challenges have emerged, especially in communication, data quality and cybersecurity. The existing literature treats these challenges as separate problems,when in reality, they have a complex interplay. This paper conducts a comprehensive review of quality and cybersecurity challenges for synchrophasors, and identifies the interdependencies between them. It also summarizes different methods used to evaluate the dependency and surveys how quality checking methods can be used to detect potential cyberattacks.

Scanning probe microscopy(SPM)is a branch of microscopy that forms images of surfaces using a physical probe that scans the *** force microscopy is one of the SPM family which is considered as a very versatile tool for surface imaging and measurements.A wide range of various samples can be measured regardless of being conductive,no-conductive,in vacuum,in air or in a fluid as a unique *** of the most challenges in atomic force microscopes(AFMs)is to evaluate the associated uncertainty during the surface measurements by ***,an optical AFM is calibrated through the calibration of XYZ *** approach is to overcome difficulties experienced when trying to evaluate some uncertainty components which cannot be experimentally determined *** surface interaction forces and tip *** Monte Carlo method is then used to determine the associated uncertainties due to such factors by randomly drawing the parameters according to their associated tolerances and their probability density functions(PDFs).The whole process follows supplement 2 to“the guide to the expression of the uncertainty in measurement”(GUM).The approach validated in the paper shows that the evaluated uncertainty in AFM is about 10 nm.

Liver cancer is the fifth and seventh most common cause of cancer in men and women,***/β-catenin signalling has emerged as a critical player in both the development of normal liver as well as an oncogenic driver in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Based on the current understanding,this article summarizes the possible mechanisms for the aberrant activation of this pathway with specific focus on ***,we will discuss the role of dickkopfs(DKKs)in regulating Wnt/β-catenin signalling,which is poorly understood and *** are a family of secreted proteins that comprise at least four members,namely DKK1-DKK4,which act as inhibitors of Wnt/β-catenin ***,not all members antagonize Wnt/β-catenin *** functional significance in hepatocarcinogenesis remains to be further characterized for which these studies should provide new insights into the regulatory role of DKKs in Wnt/β-catenin signalling in hepatic *** of the important oncogenic roles,there are an increasing number of therapeutic molecules targetingβ-catenin and the Wnt/β-catenin pathway for potential therapy of HCC.
