The protective role of(poly)phenols against metabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in *** assess associations of dietary(poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiometabolic health parameters in adolescents.A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11–14 years enrolled in the SI!Program for Secondary Schools trial(NCT03504059).(Poly)phenol intake was assessed using semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer *** measured cardiometabolic parameters were waist circumference(WC)age-sex z-score,blood pressure(BP)age-sex z-score,blood glucose(BG),triglycerides(TG),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c).multilevel mixedeffect linear regression models were applied to examine the association between(poly)phenol quintiles and cardiometabolic health *** to the lowest quintile,adolescents in the highest quintile of total(poly)phenol intake had lower WC z-scores,mean arterial pressure z-scores,and HDL-c after multivariable *** WC z-scores and HDL-c were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake compared to the lowest *** highest quintile of phenolic acid intake was associated with a lower WC z-score and TG levels,and the highest quintile of stilbene intake with lower BG and TG,and with higher HDL-c compared to the lowest quintile.A higher intake of(poly)phenols,especially flavonoids,phenolic acids,and stilbenes,was associated with better cardiometabolic parameters in adolescents.

Wettability of a metal surface has been recognized as an important factor in corrosion. The surface-active compounds such as nitrogen or sulfur-containing compounds in crude oils have different effects on wettability. In this work, 6 crude oil samples(including one condensate sample) collected from Chinese and Japanese oil fields were analyzed using sara analysis, chemiluminescence analysis, X-ray fluorescence analysis, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. The corrosion behavior of carbon steel in CO-saturated 1% Na Cl solution with the crude oils was studied by weight loss, dynamic potential polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at 40℃. Furthermore, wettability of carbon steel and oil-filmed carbon steel with and without corrosion products was investigated by measuring the contact angles. The contact angle depended on the type of surfaces(with and without corrosion products) and some specific components of crude oils. The corrosion rate and the contact angle in the tested condition showed negative correlation(significant at 10% level). The correlation coefficient between corrosion rate and each factor of nitrogen, sulfur, aromatic compounds in crude oils showed negative value. The content of oxygen-containing compounds(such as alcohols, ketones, ethers, esters) in the adsorbates of the crude oils on carbon steel increased remarkably after corrosion test for 3 days, and showed negative correlation to the corrosion rate. In addition, the corrosion rate and the hydrocarbon halide in the crude oils showed strong negative correlation. These results indicated that the N, O, S-containing compounds and the hydrocarbon halide compounds in crude oils acted as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in the CO-saturated Na Cl solution.

multiple sclerosis(mS)is a leading cause of chronic neurological disability in young to middle-aged adults,affecting~2.5 million people ***,most therapeutics for mS are systemic immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory drugs,but these drugs are unable to halt or reverse the disease and have the potential to cause serious adverse ***,there is an urgent need for the development of next-generation treatments that,alone or in combination,stop the undesired autoimmune response and contribute to the restoration of *** review analyzes current mS treatments as well as different cell-based therapies that have been proposed to restore homeostasis in mS patients(tolerogenic dendritic cells,regulatory T cells,mesenchymal stem cells,and vaccination with T cells).Data collected from preclinical studies performed in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)model of mS in animals,in vitro cultures of cells from mS patients and the initial results of phase I/II clinical trials are analyzed to better understand which parameters are relevant for obtaining an efficient cell-based therapy for mS.

Plant pathogenic fungi are a large and diverse assemblage of eukaryotes with substantial impacts on natural ecosystems and human *** taxa often have complex and poorly understood life cycles,lack observable,discriminatory morphological characters,and may not be amenable to in vitro *** a result,species identification is frequently ***(DNA sequence)data have emerged as crucial information for the taxonomic identification of plant pathogenic fungi,with the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer(ITS)region being the most popular ***,international nucleotide sequence databases are accumulating numerous sequences of compromised or low-resolution taxonomic annotations and substandard technical quality,making their use in the molecular identification of plant pathogenic fungi *** we report on a concerted effort to identify high-quality reference sequences for various plant pathogenic fungi and to re-annotate incorrectly or insufficiently annotated public ITS sequences from these fungal lineages.A third objective was to enrich the sequences with geographical and ecological *** results-a total of 31,954 changes-are incorporated in and made available through the UNITE database for molecular identification of fungi(http://***),including standalone FASTA files of sequence data for local BLAST searches,use in the next-generation sequencing analysis platforms QIImE and mothur,and related *** present initiative is just a beginning to cover the wide spectrum of plant pathogenic fungi,and we invite all researchers with pertinent expertise to join the annotation effort.
