Hormone Receptor positive (HR+) breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women. New strategies in the treatments have targeted the estrogen biosynthesis pathways including the inhibition of the aromatase and 17β-HSD1 enzymes. The present work, describes the study of a new family of 9 hybrid compounds derived from estrone attached to a coumarin fragment, linked through different lengths of hydrocarbon chains. The activity of these compounds was evaluated by molecular docking with two relevant enzymes in breast cancer (HR+). It has been proposed nine compounds as 17β-HSD1 inhibitors and six as aromatase inhibitors. We found important interactions with key amino acids at the orthosteric site of each enzyme and their score values compared to the crystallographic ligand. The in silico analysis showed good score values in the proposed compounds, where the steroidal portion presented important interactions with Met374 and Tyr155 in aromatase and in 17β-HSD1 respectively. Highlighting Compounds 2, 5 and 8 with an aromatic ring at the C4 position of the coumarin moiety, which favored arene-H type interactions essential for protein-ligand recognition. In addition, the results related to the 17β-HSD1 enzyme demonstrated how the length of the linker influences the interaction;the best score was found for derivative 8 with a chain of 8 methylenes.

Microstructure and variations in porosity in Ti-6Al-4V samples built with electron beam melting (EbM) over a range of melt scan speeds, ranging from 100 mm·s-1 to 1000 mm·s-1 were examined. Microstructure was characterized by refinement of α-phase and transformation to α′-martensite. Light optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used to observe these phenomena, while corresponding tensile testing and associated macro and microindentation hardness measurements were used to define the microstructural variations. Relative stiffness was observed to be linearly log-log related to relative density, corresponding to ideal porosity associated with open-cellular structures.

This cross-sectional study examined the lower limb balance,ankle dorsiflexion,orofacial tissue pressure,and occlusal strength of rugby ***-six participants were divided into groups:rugby players(n=13)and healthy sedentary adults(n=13).Participants underwent an analysis of lower limb balance using a composite score(Y-balance Test).Ankle dorsiflexion was measured using the Lunge *** Iowa Oral Performance Instrument was employed to measure orofacial tissue *** force was measured with a dynamometer,and T-Scan assessed occlusal contact *** were analyzed using the t-test(pble to verify that these factors did not influence the results *** differences were observed in the balance of the right(p=0.07)and left(p=0.02)lower limbs,where rugby players had lower composite *** were significant differences in the right(p=0.005)and left(p=0.004)lunges,with rugby players showing lower values,as well as lower tongue pressure(p=0.01)and higher lip pressure(p=0.03),with significant differences to sedentary *** was no significant difference in molar bite force and distribution occlusal contacts between *** seems to reduce lower limb displacement,cause ankle hypomobility,lead to changes in orofacial tissues,particularly the tongue and *** study is significant for identifying significant differences between rugby players and sedentary individuals,providing new insights into the impact of rugby on health and performance,which can benefit sports training and injury prevention.

An experimental assessment of the effectiveness of university counselling was conducted through the “Stress Drawing Recall” Technique applied before and after a clinical colloquium with 70 university students of both genders, aged 18 - 35 years, who had requested this service. Another 70 students waiting to undergo the colloquium were interviewed as a control group. Two parallel series of drawings depicting personal stress situations were collected and, after evaluation by three expert judges in “double-blind” conditions, led to establishing five forms of development of the graphic language from the first to second drawing, defined as follows: a) distension, with a reduction in stress indicators and increase in comfort indicators;b) explicit representation of conflict resolution;c) appearance of new elements, with persisting conflict;d) increase in stress indicators;e) invariant or equivalent repetition of the stress drawing. Results showed that students who underwent the clinical colloquium (experimental group) changed their stress drawings mainly in the direction of distension and conflict resolution, while the control group had more invariant or equivalent repetition of the stress situation (?= 62.77;p b) externally induced stressful situations with intense emotional resonance;c) wide-ranging long-lasting stressful situations with great involvement of the self. The participants were divided into: a) very anxious subjects;b) averagely anxious subjects;c) not very anxious subjects, on the basis of their scores on two questionnaires: the MPI (1959) and the STAI (1970). There is a correspondence between the subjects’ level of conflict and extension of the depicted stress. This confirms the usefulness of the Stress Drawing Recall Technique in psychological counselling.

AIM: To assess the relationship between vitamin D re-ceptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms and the presence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: Two-hundred forty patients who underwent liver transplantation were studied. The etiologies of liver disease were hepatitis C (100 patients), hepatitis b (37) and alcoholic liver disease (103). A group of 236 healthy subjects served as controls. HCC in the explanted liver was detected in 80 patients. The following single nucle-otide gene polymorphisms of the VDR were investigatedby polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism: FokI C>T (F/f), bsmI A>G (b/b), ApaI T>G (A/a) and TaqI T>C (T/t) (bAT). RESULTS: The frequencies of genotypes in patients without and with HCC were for FokI F/F = 69, F/f = 73, f/f = 18 and F/F = 36, F/f = 36, f/f = 8; bsmI b/b = 45, b/b = 87, b/b = 28 and b/b = 33, b/b = 35, b/b = 12; for ApaI A/A = 53, A/a = 85, a/a = 22 and A/A = 27, A/a = 38, a/a = 15; for TaqI T/T = 44, T/t = 88, t/t = 28 and T/T = 32, T/t = 38, t/t = 10. Carriage of the b/b genotype of bsmI and the T/T genotype of TaqI was signif icantly associated with HCC (45/160 vs 33/80, P bsence of the A-T-C protective allele of bAT was signif i-cantly associated with the presence of HCC (46/80 vs 68/160, P bserved between carriage of the bAT A-T-C and G-T-T haplotypes and HCC only in alcoholic liver disease (7/46 vs 12/36 vs 11/21, P < 0.002, respectively).CONCLUSION: VDR genetic polymorphisms are sig-nificantly associated with the occurrence of HCC in patients with liver cirrhosis. This relationship is more specific for patients with an alcoholic etiology.

In 2008,the European Association for the study of the liver(EASL) defined occult hepatitis b virus infection (ObI) as the"presence of hepatitis b virus(HbV) DNA in the liver(with detectable or undetectable HbV DNA in the serum) of individuals testing hepatitis b surface antigen(HbsAg) negative by currently available assays".Several aspects of occult HbV infection are still poorly understood,including the definition itself and a standardized approach for laboratory-based detection,which is the purpose of this *** clinical significance of ObI has not yet been established;however,in terms of public health,the clinical importance arises from the risk of HbV ***,it is important to detect high-risk groups for occult HbV infection to prevent *** main issue is,perhaps,to identify the target population for screening *** is very low or undetectable in occult HbV infection,even when the most sensitive methods are used,and the detection of the viral DNA reservoir in hepatocytes would provide the best evaluation of occult HbV prevalence in a defined set of ***,this diagnostic approach is obviously unsuitable:blood detection of occult hepatitis b requires assays of the highest sensitivity and specificity with a lower limit of detectionbV DNA andbsAg.
