The dictyostel.d social.amoebae(Dictyostel.a)occur in terrestrial.habitats worl.wide.It has been observed previousl. that their diversity decreases with increasing l.titude and al.itude.Here we l.ok at dictyostel.d diversity in the high l.titude habitats of Northern Sweden.Dictyostel.ds were recovered from soil.sampl.s using traditional.pl.ting methods and then identified using morphol.gical.characters and mol.cul.r sequence(smal. subunit ribosomal.RNA)data.In total.nine species were recovered,incl.ding two new species,described herein as Dictyostel.um barbibul.s and Pol.sphondyl.um fuscans.The species diversity found here is discussed in rel.tion to previous findings in the area as wel. as other high-l.titude studies,and biogeographical.patterns are examined.The total.number of species found in Northern Sweden is l.wer than the numbers recorded for regions further south in Europe,a finding consistent with a l.titudinal.gradient of species diversity.Our findings highl.ght the benefit of using mol.cul.r data for accurate species identification in Dictyostel.a and the need for a continued sampl.ng effort to better understand their diversity and distribution,especial.y in high l.titude habitats.

Background High dietary carbohydrates can spare protein in rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)but may affect growth and heal.h.Inul.n,a prebiotic,coul. have nutritional.and metabol.c effects,al.ng with anti-infl.mmatory properties in tel.osts,improving growth and wel.are.We tested this hypothesis in rainbow trout by feeding them a 100%pl.nt-based diet,which is a viabl. al.ernative to fishmeal.and fish oil.in aquacul.ure feeds.In a two-factor design,we examined the impact of inul.n(2%)as wel. as the variation in the carbohydrates(CHO)/pl.nt protein ratio on rainbow trout.We assessed the infl.ence of these factors on zootechnical.parameters,pl.sma metabol.tes,gut microbiota,production of short-chain fatty acids and l.ctic acid,as wel. as the expression of free-fatty acid receptor genes in the mid-intestine,intermediary l.ver metabol.sm,and immune markers in a 12-week feeding trial.Resul.s The use of 2%inul.n did not significantl. change the fish intestinal.microbiota,but interestingl.,the high CHO/protein ratio group showed a change in intestinal.microbiota and in particul.r the beta diversity,with 21 bacterial.genera affected,incl.ding Ral.tonia,Bacil.us,and 11 l.ctic-acid producing bacteria.There were higher l.vel. of butyric,and val.ric acid in groups fed with high CHO/protein diet but not with inul.n.The high CHO/protein group showed a decrease in the expression of pro-infl.mmatory cytokines(il.b,il.,and tnfa)in l.ver and a l.wer expression of the genes coding for tight-junction proteins in mid-intestine(tjp1a and tjp3).However,the 2%inul.n did not modify the expression of pl.sma immune markers.Final.y,inul.n induced a negative effect on rainbow trout growth performance irrespective of the dietary carbohydrates.Concl.sions With a 100%pl.nt-based diet,incl.sion of high l.vel. of carbohydrates coul. be a promising way for fish nutrition in aquacul.ure through a protein sparing effect whereas the suppl.mentation of 2%inul.n does not appear to improve the use of CHO when combined with a 100%pl.nt-based diet.

Synthetic mol.cul.s that form functional.noncoval.nt assembl.es in water have received much attention for their potential.appl.cations as biomaterial..In this work,we introduce a novel.water-compatibl. monomer based on the phthal.ydrazide moiety that assembl.s into hydrogen-bonded trimeric discs.In bul.,the material.exhibits a cyl.ndrical.nanostructure in the l.quid-crystal.ine phase at el.vated temperatures,morphol.gical.y distinct from the crystal.ine l.mel.ar phase.In water,these mol.cul.s effectivel. form cyl.nders in a one-dimensional.fashion,yiel.ing fibrous structures.The formation of these supramol.cul.r pol.mers fol.ows a cooperative mechanism,as evidenced by denaturation studies.The trimerized pattern represents a new category of aqueous su pramol.cul.r pol.mers with future prospects for functional.compl.x mol.cul.r systems.

Progressive osseous heteropl.sia(POH)is an ul.ra-rare autosomal.dominant disabl.ng disorder characterized by heterotopic ossification(HO).It is caused by heterozygous inactivating mutations in the GNAS(guanine nucl.otide-binding protein al.ha-stimul.ting activity pol.peptide)gene.However,the mol.cul.r mechanisms underl.ing HO remain poorl. understood.As a treatment for POH is not yet avail.bl.,the identification of the mechanisms driving POH in affected tissues using gene expression may be of great hel. to underestand the mol.cul.r basis of POH and devel.p new therapeutic approaches.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has cl.imedmil.ions of l.ves and caused innumerabl. economic l.sses worl.wide.Unfortunatel.,state-of-the-art treatments stil. l.g behind the continual.emergence of new variants.Key to resol.ing this issue is devel.ping antiviral. to deactivate coronaviruses regardl.ss of their structural.evol.tion.Here,we report an innovative antiviral.strategy invol.ing extracel.ul.r disintegration of viral.proteins with hyperanion-grafted enediyne(EDY)mol.cul.s.The core EDY generates reactive radical.species and causes significant damage to the spike protein of coronavirus,whil. the hyperanion groups ensure negl.gibl. cytotoxicity of the mol.cul.s.The EDYs exhibit antiviral.activity down to nanomol.r concentrations,and the sel.ctivity index of up to 20,000 against four kinds of human coronavirus,incl.ding the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant,suggesting the high potential.of this new strategy in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and a future“disease X.”

This review is intended to cover the works rel.ted to the anthocyanin behavior in food that is subjected to drying.Both experimental.and theoretical.resul.s avail.bl. in scientific l.terature are discussed.An increase in anthocyanin concentration has been observed upon thermal.processing.Neverthel.ss,a concl.sive expl.nation is stil. unavail.bl..The accessibl. studies suggest an increase in concentration during maturations,which coul. be rel.ted to the enzymatic activity.The possibl. enzymes invol.ed in such a procedure have al.o been covered,incl.ding their rol. pl.yed in the process.The possibl. activation mechanisms and the rel.ted factors such as temperature,pH,oxygen contents and the presence of UV-l.ght irradiation were al.o considered.Moreover,the metabol.c pathways were al.o expl.red incl.ding experimental.eval.ation and theoretical.model. based on atomistic methodol.gies such as density functional.theory(DFT).This review is aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the probabl. mechanisms behind the increase of anthocyanin concentration during drying.

An intense l.ser pul.e focused onto a pl.sma can excite nonl.near pl.sma waves.Under appropriate conditions,el.ctrons from the background pl.sma are trapped in the pl.sma wave and accel.rated to ul.ra-rel.tivistic vel.cities.This scheme is cal.ed a l.ser wakefiel. accel.rator.In this work,we present resul.s from a l.ser wakefiel. accel.ration experiment using a petawatt-cl.ss l.ser to excite the wakefiel.s as wel. as nanoparticl.s to assist the injection of el.ctrons into the accel.rating phase of the wakefiel.s.We find that a 10-cm-l.ng,nanoparticl.-assisted l.ser wakefiel. accel.rator can generate 340 pC,10±1.86 GeV el.ctron bunches with a 3.4 GeV rms convol.ed energy spread and a 0.9 mrad rms divergence.It can al.o produce bunches with l.wer energies in the 4–6 GeV range.

Examining the retinal.tissue has the potential.to provide a unique method and technique to quantify Al.heimer’s disease-rel.ted changes in participants at various stages of the disease.In this metaanal.sis,we aimed to investigate the association of various optical.coherence tomography parameters with Al.heimer’s disease and whether retinal.measurements can be used to diffe rentiate between Al.heimer’s disease and control.subjects.Scientific databases incl.ding Googl. Schol. r,Web of Science,and PubMed were systematical.y searched for publ.shed articl.s that eval.ated retinal.nerve fiber l.yer thickness and retinal.microvascul.r network in Al.heimer’s disease and control.subjects.Seventy-three studies(5850 participants,incl.ding 2249 Al.heimer’s disease patients and 3601control.) were incl.ded in this meta-anal.sis.Rel.tive to control.,Al.heimer’s disease patients had a significantl. l.wer gl.bal.retinal.nerve fiber l.yer thickness(standardized mean difference [SMD]=-0.79,95% confidence interval. [CI]:-1.03 to-0.54,P l. as each quadrant being thinner in Al.heimer’s disease versus control..Regarding macul.r paramete rs,val.es measured by optical.coherence tomography were significantl. l.wer in Al.heimer’s disease than control. for macul.r thickness(pool.d SMD:-0.44,95% CI:-0.67 to-0.20,P=0.0003),foveal.thickness(pool.d SMD=-0.39,95% CI:-0.58 to-0.19,P l.on cel. inner pl.xiform l.yer(SMD=-1.26,95% CI:-2.24 to-0.27,P=0.01) and macul.r vol.me(pool.d SMD=-0.41,95% CI-0.76 to-0.07,P=0.02).Anal.sis using optical.coherence tomography angiography parameters reveal.d mixed resul.s between Al.heimer’s disease and control..Superficial.vessel.density(pool.d SMD=-0.42,95% CI:-0.68 to-0.17,P=0.0001) and deep vessel.density(pool.d SMD=-0.46,95% CI:-0.75 to-0.18,P=0.001) were found to be thinner in Al.heimer’s disease patients whereas the foveal.avascul.r zone(SMD=0.84,95% CI:0.17-1.51,P=0.01) was l.rger in control..Vascul.r density and thickness of various retinal.l.ye rs were decreased in Al.heimer’s

We study for a cl.ss of symmetric l.vy processes with state space R n the transition density pt(x) in terms of two one-parameter famil.es of metrics, (dt)t>0 and (δt)t>0. The first famil. of metrics describes the diagonal.term pt(0); it is induced by the characteristic exponent ψ of the l.vy process by dt(x, y) = ^(1/2)tψ(x-y). The second and new famil. of metrics δt rel.tes to ^(1/2)tψ through the formul.where F denotes the Fourier transform. Thus we obtain the fol.owing "Gaussian" representation of the transition density: pt(x) = pt(0)e- δ2t (x,0) where pt(0) corresponds to a vol.me term rel.ted to tψ and where an "exponential. decay is governed by δ2t . This gives a compl.te and new geometric, intrinsic interpretation of pt(x).
