Understanding the genetic basis underlying the local adaptation of nonmodel species is a fundamental goal in evolutionary *** this study,we explored the genetic mechanisms of the local adaptation of Forsythia suspensa using genome sequence and population genomics data obtained from specific-locus amplified fragment *** assembled a high-quality reference genome of weeping forsythia(Scaffold n50=7.3 Mb)using ultralong nanopore ***,genome-wide comparative analysis was performed for 15 natural populations of weeping forsythia across its current distribution *** results revealed that candidate genes associated with local adaptation are functionally correlated with solar radiation,temperature and water variables across heterogeneous environmental *** particular,solar radiation during the period of fruit development and seed drying after ripening,cold,and drought significantly contributed to the adaptive differentiation of *** selection exerted by environmental factors contributed substantially to the population genetic structure of *** results supported the hypothesis that adaptive differentiation should be highly pronounced in the genes involved in signal crosstalk between different environmental *** population genomics study of *** provides insights into the fundamental genetic mechanisms of the local adaptation of plant species to climatic gradients.

BACKGROUnD Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD),characterised by hepatic lipid accumulation,causes inflammation and oxidative stress accompanied by cell damage and *** injury(LI)is also frequently reported in patients hospitalised with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),while preexisting MASLD increases the risk of LI and the development of COVID-19-associated *** of injury at the cellular level remain unclear,but it may be significant that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)which causes COVID-19,uses angiotensin-converting expression enzyme 2(ACE2),a key regulator of the‘anti-inflammatory’arm of the renin-angiotensin system,for viral attachment and host cell *** To determine if hepatic ACE2 levels are altered during progression of MASLD and in patients who died with severe *** ACE2 protein levels and localisation,and histological fibrosis and lipid droplet accumulation as markers of MASLD were determined in formalin-fixed liver tissue sections across the MASLD pathological spectrum(isolated hepatocellular steatosis,metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis(MASH)+/-fibrosis,end-stage cirrhosis)and in post-mortem tissues from patients who had died with severe COVID-19,using ACE2 immunohistochemistry and haematoxylin and eosin and picrosirius red staining of total collagen and lipid droplet areas,followed by quantification using machine learning-based image pixel *** ACE2 staining is primarily intracellular and concentrated in the cytoplasm of centrilobular hepatocytes and apical membranes of bile duct ***,ACE2 protein levels are elevated in non-fibrotic MASH compared to healthy controls but not in the progression to MASH with fibrosis and in ***2 protein levels and histological fibrosis are not associated,but ACE2 and liver lipid droplet content are significantly correlated across the MASLD *** A

A study of female genital swabs in a nigerian Tertiary Hospital

Objective:To detect some common microbial agents of vaginal discharge and improve the current syndromic management of abnormal vaginal ***:A prospective study of female genital swabs collected from obstetrics and gynecology units of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital,Kano,nigeria and an analysed of microscopy,culture and sensitivity in the medical microbiology and parasitology laboratory of this hospital were conducted from December 2007 to December *** on epidemiologic indices were collected from the patients,using structured interviewer-administered ***:Eight hundred and forty Candida species were detected,constituting 60%(n=840) of 1 400 female genital discharge samples of microbial etiology in a total of 2 000 female genital samples *** distribution of vaginal candidiasis was tbe highest in young adults aged 21 to 30 years with 43%(n=360) of the total 840 cases. Pregnant women that presented with vaginal candidiasis constituted 40%(n=360) of the total 840 *** risk groups included the immuno-suppression with 24%(n=202),group on hormonal therapy with 15%(n=126) and broad spectrum antibiotics users with 16%(n=134).Conclusions: The results show that Candida is the most common cause of vaginitis and vulvo-vaginal candidiasis followed by *** in the young adults aged 21 to 30 years,pregnant mothers, immuno-suppression,contraceptive and broad spectrum antibiotic *** management of vaginal candidiasis and vulvo-vaginal candidiasis is recommended especially among the risk groups in order to avoid complications and reduce HIV transmission.

Academic productivity correlates with industry earnings in foot and ankle fellowship programs in the United States:A retrospective analysis

BACKGROUnD The study investigates the connection between academic productivity and industry earnings in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery *** metrics like the H-index and Open Payments Database(OPD)data,it addresses a gap in understanding the relationship between scholarly achievements and financial outcomes,providing a basis for further exploration in this specialized medical *** To elucidate the trends between academic productivity and industry earnings across foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowship programs in the United *** This study is a retrospective analysis of the relationship between academic productivity and industry earnings of foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowships at an individual faculty and fellowship *** productivity was defined via H-index and recorded from the Scopus *** earnings were recorded from the *** Forty-eight foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowships(100%of fellowships)in the United States with a combined total of 165 physicians(95.9%of physicians)were *** individual physician(n=165)total life-time earnings reported on the OPD website was United States Dollar(USD)451430.30±1851084.89(range:USD 25.16-21269249.85;median:USD 27839.80).Mean physician(n=165)H-index as reported on Scopus is 14.24±12.39(range:0-63;median:11).There was a significant but weak correlation between individual physician H-index and individual physician total life-time earnings(Pn’s rho=0.334)and a significant and moderate positive correlation between combined fellowship H-index and total life-time earnings per fellowship(P=0.004,Spearman’s rho=0.409).COnCLUSIOn There is a significant and positive correlation between academic productivity and industry earnings at foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowships in the United *** observation is true on an individual physician level as well as on a fellowship level.

Anesthetic Management of a Parturient with Thalidomide Phocomelia

The teratogenicity of thalidomide has been known since the early 1960s [1]. Thalidomide is currently used world wide, including the United States, to treat erythema nodosum leprosum, multiple myeloma, refractory Crohn’s disease, aphthous stomatitis and HIV wasting syndrome. new cases of thalidomide phocomelia are being reported as well. We report a case of the anesthetic challenges of a 23 year-old parturient with thalidomide phocomelia and review the important anesthetic challenges it presents. Spontaneous vaginal delivery under continuous lumbar epidural was achieved in this challenging patient. However, it required careful planning for reliable intravenous access and the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of her pelvis and lumbar spine.

伊博语是尼日利亚国内重要的一种语言,使用人口很多。随着尼日利亚伊语母语的汉语学习者的增加,越来越多的人注意到其母语语音系统与汉语语音系统的差异。但目前为止,还没有人对这两种语言的语音系统进行专门的对比研究。因此,对这两种语言进行语音系统的对比研究,有开拓性意义。同时,从对外汉语教学视角进行这两种语言的语音系统的对比研究,一方面可以发现伊语母语的汉语学习者汉语发音中的偏误问题,另一方面可以用于解释、指导对这些学习者的汉语语音教学。本论文基于作者伊博语母语者的感知,结合语音学理论、比较语言学理论以及运用praat软件的实验语音学研究方法,对伊博语和汉语的语音系统进行了对比研究以期能帮助伊语母语的汉语学习者更有效地习得汉语语音,同时也帮助汉语教师更好地了解伊博语语音系统,并帮助他们设计更好的教学方法。论文共分五章:第一章,绪论。介绍本论文的研究对象和范围、研究的意义与价值、文献综述、研究方法以及材料来源。第二章,伊博语概述及伊汉语语音系统的总体差异。对伊博语这一语言所属的语系、文字系统、语音系统及与汉语语系系统总体上的差异。第三章,具体对比了伊汉元音系统的相同和不同之处。伊博语有8个元音,汉语有10个基本元音,但汉语与伊语的元音,只有3个是相同的,其他几个是不同的。本章用praat软件做出了两种语言的元音图,展示其区别。第四章,具体对比了伊汉语辅音系统的不同。汉语有22个辅音,伊博语有28个辅音,两种语言的语音系统在发音部分和发音方法上都有差异。汉语的舌尖-齿龈后发音部分,伊博语没有;伊博语的齿龈后音发音部位,汉语没有。汉语的送气发音方法,伊博语没有;伊博语大量使用浊音,汉语则很少;伊博语的喉音、软腭音等,汉语也没有。本章用praat做了伊汉语语的辅音图,以展示其区别。第五章,对比了汉伊博语的声调和它的功能。伊博语有三个声调,汉语有四个声调,伊博语声调的调值与汉语声调不一样。本章用praat软件绘出了伊语声调的发音特点图。本章还描写了伊博语声调的几大功能。第六章,重点介绍了伊博语的成音节辅音,元音和谐和元音同化现象。这些都是伊博语特有的语音现象,汉语中都没有。第七章,结语。简要分析了伊语语音系统与汉语语音系统的差异所导致的伊语母语学生在学习汉语时,语音偏误的几类主要表现,伊博语学习者在初级阶段比较难学的汉语辅音是z[?]、c[?]、、zh[?]、z[?]、q[?]、x[?]。尤其是发送气音c[?]、q[?],因为伊博语没有送气与不送气的区别。

对地球陆地的卫星遥感大大增进了人们对全球植被型的了解.综合可见光与近红外波段的反射率观测值可以大致反映植被枝叶的存在,状况及数量.在气候研究中,这种资料相当有价值,因为气候变量与植被枝叶有关.植被枝叶的存在主要由局地热量与水分状况的结合决定.反过来,枝叶的存在又决定了局地光合率,影响表面反射率,影响局地蒸散率以及地面能量和质量平衡的其它要素.这些遥感资料的应用第一次为直接研究气候与植被之间的相互作用提供了连贯的全球性资料.这些进展正在被气候学研究接收,将会促进大尺度生物气候学的发展.预计在不久的将来,遥感技术以及人们对这些技术的了解将继续迅速发展,并且会推动卫星气候学这一新领域的重大进展.

Prevalence of bacterial vaginosis and its risk factors in HIV/AIDS patients with abnormal vaginal discharge

Objective:To determine the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis in the HIV/AIDS patients of primary health care clinics in Jos Plateau state,***:Female genital swabs were collected from primary health care centers,Jos and analyzed by microscopy,culture,*** Jos University Teaching Hospital from December 2006 to December *** on epidemiologic indices were collected,using structured interviewer-administered ***: The incidence of bacterial vaginosis in the study was 28%(n=196/700).Among the HIV/AIDS group,the bacterial vaginosis incidence was 36%(n=126/350),while in the control(non-HIV patients) group,the rate was 20%(70/350) with a statistically significant difference at 95 percent confidence level(Pnd non-HIV(control) patients contributed 64%(n=126/196) and 36%(n=70/196),*** risks to bacterial vaginosis included vaginal douching with disinfectant/detergent constituted(60%),poor use of condom 40%,a median age of 26 years,and a median number of 3 sex partners per ***:There was a significant statistical difference in prevalence of bacterial vaginosis between the HIV/AIDS group and non-HIV(control) group of patients in the *** behaviors that promote the incidence of bacterial vaginosis should be especially paid attention.
