Parkinson's disease,the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder worldwide,is characterized by a progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra pars compacta,causing motor *** disorder's main hallmark is the formation of intraneuronal protein inclusions,named Lewy bodies and *** major component of these arrangements is α-synuclein,an intrinsically disordered and soluble protein that,in pathological conditions,can form toxic and cell-to-cell transmissible amyloid *** α-synuclein aggregation has attracted significant effort in the search for a disease-modifying therapy for Parkinson's *** molecules like Synu Clean-d,epigallocatechin gallate,trodusquemine,or anle138 b exemplify this therapeutic ***,we describe a subset of compounds containing a single aromatic ring,like dopamine,ZPdm,gallic acid,or entacapone,which act as molecular chaperones against α-synuclein *** simplicity of their structures contrasts with the complexity of the aggregation process,yet the block efficiently α-synuclein assembly into amyloid fibrils,in many cases,redirecting the reaction towards the formation of non-toxic off-pathway ***,some of these compounds can disentangle mature α-synuclein amyloid *** simple structures allow structure-activity relationship analysis to elucidate the role of different functional groups in the inhibition of α-synuclein aggregation and fibril dismantling,making them informative lead scaffolds for the rational development of efficient drugs.

Parkinson’s disease (Pd) is a neurodegenerative disorder belonging to a group of human pathologies known as synucleinopathies,which includes multiple system atrophy or dementia with Lewy bodies (Spillantini et al.,1998).These diseases share a common neuropathological feature,the presence ofα-synuclein (α-Syn) deposits,although they differ in the cellular and anatomical compartment in whichα-Syn inclusions *** affects more than 1% of people over 60 years of age,thus being the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disease in the world and the most common synucleinopathy.

The sexually dimorphic expression of glutamate transporters and their implication in pain after spinal cord injury

In addition to the loss of motor function,~60% of patients develop pain after spinal cord *** cellular-molecular mechanisms are not well understood,but the data suggests that plasticity within the rostral,epicenter,and caudal penumbra of the injury site initiates a cellularmolecular interplay that acts as a rewiring mechanism leading to central neuropathic *** can lead to the formation of new connections triggering abnormal sensory *** excitatory glutamate transporters are responsible for the reuptake of extracellular glutamate which makes them a critical target to prevent neuronal hyperexcitability and *** previous studies showed a sexually dimorphic therapeutic window for spinal cord injury after treatment with the selective estrogen receptor modulator *** this study,we investigated the anti-allodynic effects of tamoxifen in male and female rats with spinal cord *** hypothesized that tamoxifen exerts anti-allodynic effects by increasing the expression of glutamate transporters,leading to reduced hyperexcitability of the secondary neuron or by decreasing aberrant *** and female rats received a moderate contusion to the thoracic spinal cord followed by subcutaneous slow-release treatment of tamoxifen or matrix pellets as a control(placebo).We used von Frey monofilaments and the“up-down method”to evaluate mechanical *** treatment decreased allodynia only in female rats with spinal cord injury revealing a sexdependent *** expression profile of glutamatergic transporters(excitatory amino acid transporter 1/glutamate aspartate transporter and excitatory amino acid transporter 2/glutamate transporter-1)revealed a sexual dimorphism in the rostral,epicenter,and caudal areas of the spinal cord with a pattern of expression primarily on *** rodents showed a significantly higher level of excitatory amino acid transporter-1 expression while male rodents showed increased

Thermodynamic analysis for a third grade fluid through a vertical channel with internal heat generation

This paper makes the thermodynamic analysis in forced convective flow of a third grade fluid through a vertical channel. due to the reactive nature of the fluid, the effect of internal heat generation is considered and assumed to be a linear function of temperature. The coupled nonlinear dimensionless ordinary differential equations governing the fluid flow are solved by using the Adomian decomposition method（AdM）. The effects of various physical parameters such as third grade material parameter, buoyancy parameter and heat generation parameter on the thermal structure of flow are presented and discussed.

Song plays a fundamental role in intraspecific communication in *** temporal and structural components of songs can vary in different *** include urban habitats where anthropogenic sounds and alteration of habitat structure can significantly affect songbird vocal ***-rural variations in song complexity,song length and syllable rate are not fully *** this study,using the oriental magpie-robin(Copsychus saularis)as a model,we investigated urban-rural variation in song complexity,song length,syllable rate,syllable length and inter-syllable *** urban and rural songs from 7 countries across its natural Asiatic range(Bangladesh,India,Malaysia,Nepal,Singapore,Sri Lanka and Thailand),we found no significant differences in oriental magpie-robin song ***,we found significant differences in temporal song variables between urban and rural *** songs and inter-syllable intervals in addition to slower syllable rates within urban sites contributed the most to this *** indicates that the urban environment may have driven production of longer and slower songs to maximize efficient transmission of important song information in urban habitats.
