Forest dynamics is highly relevant to a broad range of earth science studies,many of which have geographic coverage ranging from regional to global *** the temporally dense Landsat acquisitions available in many regions provide a unique opportunity for understanding forest disturbance history dating back to 1972,large quantities of Landsat images will need to be analysed for studies at regional to global *** will not only require effective change detection algorithms,but also highly automated,high level preprocessing capabilities to produce images with subpixel geolocation accuracies and best achievable radiometric consistency,a status called imagery-ready-to-use(IRU).This paper describes a streamlined approach for producing IRU quality Landsat time series stacks(LTSS).This approach consists of an image selection protocol,high level preprocessing algorithms and IRU quality verification *** high level preprocessing algorithms include updated radiometric calibration and atmospheric correction for calculating surface reflectance and precision registration and orthorectification routines for improving geolocation *** automated routines have been implemented in the Landsat Ecosystem Disturbance Adaptive System(LEDAPS)designed for processing large quantities of Landsat *** characteristics of the LTSS developed using this approach are discussed.

The effects of coloring therapy on patients with generalized anxiety disorder

Generalized anxiety disorder(GAD)has harmful effects on physical and mental health and quality of *** therapy has been reported to have a positive effect on improving patient anxiety and *** there are no reported clinical trials examining their effectiveness as a treatment for *** study was planned to evaluate the effectiveness of coloring therapy combined with conventional therapy in improving anxiety,depression,and positive and negative emotions with *** randomized controlled study comprising 88 GAD patients was selected for intervention in different *** control group(n=45)was given conventional antianxiety medication and physical therapy,and the experimental group(n=43)received coloring therapy combined with conventional *** Self-Rating Depression Scale,Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Hamilton Depression Scale,Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),and Positive and negative Affect Scale were assessed in both groups before and 3 weeks after the *** the intervention,there were statistical differences in intra-and inter-group comparisons of anxiety,depression,and positive and negative mood scales in the experimental and control groups(pnus in anxiety/positive emotions pre-and postintervention in the experimental group was statistically significant compared to that in anxiety/positive emotions pre-and postintervention in the control group(HAMA:d=1.45,95%confidence interval[CI](0.34,2.57),p=.011;SAS:d=3.87,95%CI(1.73,6.00),p=.001;positive:d=1.76,95%CI(0.17,3.34),p=.030).The minus in depressive/negative emotions pre-and postintervention in the experimental group was not statistically significant compared with that in depressive/negative emotions pre-and postintervention in the control group(p>.05).For GAD patients,adding coloring therapy based on conventional drug therapy and physical therapy can not only reduce depression and negative emotions but also have better effects on reducing anxiety and improving po

Mechanically induced Ca^(2+) oscillations in osteocytes release extracellular vesicles and enhance bone formation

The vast osteocytic network is believed to orchestrate bone metabolic activity in response to mechanical stimuli through production of sclerostin, RAnKL, and osteoprotegerin(OPG). However, the mechanisms of osteocyte mechanotransduction remain poorly understood. We've previously shown that osteocyte mechanosensitivity is encoded through unique intracellular calcium (Ca^(2+) ) dynamics. Here, by simultaneously monitoring Ca^(2+) and actin dynamics in single cells exposed to fluid shear flow, we detected actin network contractions immediately upon onset of flow-induced Ca^(2+) transients, which were facilitated by smooth muscle myosin and further confirmed in native osteocytes ex vivo. Actomyosin contractions have been linked to the secretion of extracellular vesicles(EVs), and our studies demonstrate that mechanical stimulation upregulates EV production in osteocytes through immunostaining for the secretory vesicle marker Lysosomal-associated membrane protein 1(LAMP1) and quantifying EV release in conditioned medium, both of which are blunted when Ca^(2+) signaling was inhibited by neomycin. Axial tibia compression was used to induce anabolic bone formation responses in mice, revealing upregulated LAMP1 and expected downregulation of sclerostin in vivo. This load-related increase in LAMP1 expression was inhibited in neomycin-injected mice compared to ***-computed tomography revealed significant load-related increases in both trabecular bone volume fraction and cortical thickness after two weeks of loading, which were blunted by neomycin treatment. In summary, we found mechanical stimulation of osteocytes activates Ca^(2+) -dependent contractions and enhances the production and release of EVs containing bone regulatory proteins. Further, blocking Ca^(2+) signaling significantly attenuates adaptation to mechanical loading in vivo, suggesting a critical role for Ca^(2+) -mediated signaling in bone adaptation.

Growth and Characterization of Organic nLO Crystal:β-naphthol

Single crystals of β-naphthol （/3n）, an organic nonlinear optical （nLO） material was successfully grown by temperature lowering method using chloroform as solvent. The initial compound was purified by repeated recrystallization process. As-grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction （XRD） studies to ascertain that βn crystal crystallized in the monoclinic system with a noncemtrosymmetric space group. Vibrational frequencies of various functional groups in the crystals were derived from Fourier transform infrared （FTIR） spectroscopy and proton nuclear magnetic resonance （nMR） spectrum. Optical characterization was done using UV-Visible near-infrared （nIR） spectroscopy. The thermal behaviour of the material was studied by thermo gravimetric and differential thermal plots. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） study was carried out on the surface of the grown crystals to investigate the nature of defects in the crystal surface and the nLO property of the crystal was tested by nd：YAG laser as a source.

Dear Editor,In most flowering plants, the stigma of the flower represents the barrier that prevents any unrelated or incompatible （genetically similar） pollen from germination and fertilizing the ovule, leading to either defective or genetically unfavorable embryos. In Brassicaceae, self-incompatibility （SI） is a genetic mechanism in the stigmas that can discern compatible versus incompatible mate （pollen）, in turn, rejecting self or incompatible pollen, while allowing non-self or compatible pollen to develop successfully to fertilize the ovules. Thus, stigmas have evolved complex mechanisms and specialized proteins to reject incompatible mates and to recognize and accept compatible pollen （Doucet et al., 2016）. The fact that SI has been shown to exclusively operate in the stigmas temporally before and during anthesis （Kandasamy et al., 1993） indicates that multiple metabolic pathways essential for pollination exist in these stigmatic papillary cells.

Background: Kalanchoe integra is widely used in folklore medicine as an antiasthmatic agent. Previous studies have shown the ameliorating effect of Kalanchoe integra leaf extract [KILE] on bronchial hyperesponsiveness and inflammation. Further, the stabilizing effect of Kalanchoe sp on mast cell degranulation, suggests that Kalanchoe species are suitable candidates for allergic asthma therapy. This study is designed to investigate the anti-asthmatic potential of KILE and monitor the accompanying histopathological and immunobiochemical changes that occur in an animal model of bronchial asthma using ovalbumin sensitized guinea pigs. Method: Thirty male guinea pigs were divided into five groups of six animals each. Bronchial asthma was simulated in guinea pigs using ovalbumin. Both low dose (300 mg/kg) and high dose extract (900 mg/kg) were administered daily for 42 days. Prednisolone (2.5 mg/kg) was the standard drug used. Results: Guinea pigs in all KILE treated groups maintained the integrity of their airway structures: bronchial folds and walls, alveoli, alveolar ducts and sacs. KILE and prednisolone caused a reduction in immune parameters (p 0.001), extent of bronchoconstriction, bronchial wall thickness and goblet cell accumulation in the sensitized guinea pigs. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the anti-asthmatic potential of KILE during prolonged administration by the oral route.

The late-to post-collisional stage in orogenic systems is characterized by the coeval existence of bimodal potassic to ultrapotassic magmatic activity related to partial melting of an enriched lithospheric mantle together with crustal derived *** this paper,we present new whole rock geochemical analyses combined with zircon and titanite U–Pb and zircon Hf isotopic data from potassic to ultrapotassic rocks from six plutons that occur within the Archean Itacambira-Monte Azul block(BIMA),to discuss their petrogenesis and the tectonic implications for the São Francisco *** new U–Pb ages range from ca.2.06 Ga to 1.98 Ga and reveal long-lasting potassic magmatism within the BIMA,which is within the late-to-post-collisional stage of the São Francisco paleocontinent *** ultrapotassic rocks are compatible with a fluid-related metasomatized mantle source enriched by previous subduction events,whereas the potassic rocks are bimodal and have a transitional shoshonitic to A-type *** rocks have a hybrid nature,possible related to the mixing between the mafic potassic/ultrapotassic rocks and high temperature crustal melts of the Archean continental *** results also show an increase of within-plate signature towards the younger potassic *** participation of an important Archean crustal component in the genesis of these rocks is highlighted by the common and occasionally abundant occurrence of Archean inherited *** Hf isotopic record shows that most of the zircon inheritance has dominantly subchondriticεHf(t)values,which fits a crustal reworking derivation from a similar Eo-to Paleoarchean precursor ***,the presence of juvenile 2.36 Ga zircon inheritance in an ultrapotassic sample reveal the existence of a hidden reservoir that is somewhat similar to the described for the Mineiro Belt in southern São Francisco paleocontinent.
