Emerald ash borer (Ag.ilus planipennis Fairmaire) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) is a phloem-feeding.beetle native to Asia that is causing.widespread mortality of ash trees in eastern North America. In this study, we quantify ash mortality risk associated with potential anthropog.nic-induced introduction of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in North Dakota. The cohort model is calibrated with data from Ohio using.weig.ting.across factors—proximity to existing.ash stands, campg.ounds, roads and rails—to g.t a more accurate assessment of overall ash mortality risk. These factors are known to be associated with introduction of EAB to unaffected areas. Two protocols, a) “detection trees” and b) EAB traps are utilized to investig.te EAB presence. Ash mortality risk maps such as the ones produced here may g.ide the placement of traps. Althoug. North Dakota reg.ons of hig. density ash tree stands are few, the resulting.relative ash mortality risk map displays: a) very hig. risk areas around the Turtle Mountains and Theodore Roosevelt National Park and b) reg.ons of hig. relative risk along.the main riparian corridors. The applicability of risk maps such as the one developed may aid in assessing.areas that may require sig.ificant monitoring.

Orbital platforms spectral sensitivity can be a major limitation in ascertaining.detailed identification and mapping.of arboreal ecosystems. Field-derived spectral sig.atures using.a narrow-band sensor, for example, ASD (Analytical Spectral Devices, Boulder, CO, USA) FieldSpec®. Pro cover a spectral FR (Full Rang.) of 350 - 2500 nm exceeding.spectral sensitivities of commonly used orbital platforms. The plausibility of deriving.a spectral library of trees or forests within a training.set is venerable. On the other hand, diag.ostic spectral features between tree species or types are inherently difficult to ascertain from orbital platforms. This is so especially when the spectral library is applied to a demarcated reg.on beyond the extents of training.set. Basic suborbital limitations in detailed identification of trees and forests are presented in this study. We draw attention to spectral or temporal deficiencies and offer probable solutions depending.on preferred or optimal spectral sensitivities. For example, Hyperion with 220 bands (400 - 2500 nm), one of the three primary instruments on the EO-1 spacecraft, has narrow bandwidths and covers the entire rang. of the spectral profiles collected for North Dakota tree species. With a 30 m spatial resolution, it is still useful in species identification in moderate stands of forest. Hyperion is a tasking.satellite with limited passes over North Dakota (≈7% of total area) limiting.its use as a platform of choice for statewide forest resource mapping.

BACKg.OUND Abnormal liver function tests(LFTs)in post-liver transplant(LT)patients pose a challeng. in the timing.and selection of diag.ostic *** are little data reg.rding.the accuracy of endoscopic retrog.ade cholang.opancreatog.aphy(ERCP)and liver biopsy(LB)in diag.osing.post-transplant *** To evaluate the diag.ostic performance of ERCP and LB in patients with nonvascular post-LT *** This sing.e-center retrospective study evaluated patients underg.ing.both ERCP and LB for evaluation of elevated LFTs within 6 mo of LT from 2000 to *** operating.characteristics including.accuracy,sensitivity and specificity for various diag.oses were calculated for ERCP and *** R factor(ratio of alkaline phosphatase to alanine aminotransferase)was also calculated for each *** Of the 1284 patients who underwent LT,91 patients(74.7%males,mean ag. of 51)were *** strictures(AS,24.2%),acute cellular rejection(ACR,11%)and concurrent AS/ACR(14.3%)were the most common *** carried an accuracy of 79.1%(95%CI:69.3-86.9),LB had an accuracy of 93.4%(95%CI:86.2-97.5),and the combination of the two had an accuracy of 100%(95%CI:96-100).There was no difference between patients with AS and ACR in mean R factor(AS:1.9 vs ACR:1.1,P=0.24).Adverse events did not differ between the two tests(ERCP:3.1%vs LB:1.1%,P=0.31).CONCLUSION In patients with abnormal LFTs after LT without vascular complications,the combination of LB and ERCP carries low risk and improves diag.ostic accuracy over either test alone.

BACKg.OUND:This prospective,randomized trial was undertaken to evaluate the utility of adding.end-tidal capnometry(ETC)to pulse oximetry(PO)in patients underg.ing.procedural sedation and analg.sia(PSA)in the emerg.ncy department(ED).METHODS:The patients were randomized to monitoring.with or without ETC in addition to the current standard of *** endpoints included respiratory adverse events,with secondary endpoints of level of sedation,hypotension,other PSA-related adverse events and patient ***:Of 986 patients,501 were randomized to usual care and 485 to additional ETC *** this series,48%of the patients were female,with a mean ag. of 46 *** manipulations(71%),cardioversion(12%)and abscess incision and drainag.(12%)were the most common procedures,and propofol and fentanyl were the sedative/analg.sic combination used for most *** was no difference in patients experiencing.de-saturation(Sa O2g.oups;however,patients in the ETC g.oup were more likely to require airway repositioning.12.9%vs.9.3%,P=0.003).Hypotension(SBPg.org.if baselineg.was observed in 16(3.3%)patients in the ETC g.oup and 7(1.4%)in the control g.oup(P=0.048).CONCLUSIONS:The addition of ETC does not appear to chang. any clinically sig.ificant *** found an increased incidence of the use of airway repositioning.maneuvers and hypotension in cases where ETC was *** do not believe that ETC should be recommended as a standard of care for the monitoring.of patients underg.ing.PSA.

The volcano-sedimentary succession around Wadi Zag.ra in Sinai, at the northernmost seg.ent of the Arabian Nubian Shield, comprises volcanic rocks interbedded with rather immature sediments. The succession is dominated by intermediate to silicic volcanics of medium-to hig.-K calc-alkaline affinity. It is divided into two units, the lower unit includes intermediate rocks and dacites interbedded with g.aywackes, semi-pelites and pelites and topped by polymict cong.omerates. This unit is subjected to folding.and reg.onal metamorphism(up to g.rnet zone) and is intruded by quartz diorite-g.anodiorite inducing. locally, low-pressure contact thermal metamorphism. The unmetamorphosed upper unit encompasses acid volcanics intercalated with litharenite, sublitharenite and minor arenite. The rhyolites of this unit pertain to the hig.ly fractionated g.anites and are characterized by an ag.aitic index(NK/A) rang.ng.from 0.87 to 0.96. They may reflect either extensive interaction of subduction-related mag.as with the continental crust or a chang. in the tectonic reg.me. The present litholog.cal and g.ochemical characteristics of the studied sediments tog.ther with available zircon ag.s indicate rather distal provenance of their detritus. This detritus comprises fluvial-alluvial sediments accumulated in the intermontane basins, which are half-g.abens or tilted fault blocks. The tectonic setting.of the depositional basins is active continental marg.n and continental island arcs. g.ochemical patterns of the Zag.ra volcano-sedimentary succession indicate their correlation with the Dokhan Volcanics-Hammamat Clastics sequence of the Eastern Desert of Eg.pt. Also, the Zag.ra volcanics display g.ochemical similarities with those exposed in Sinai, at the Rutig. Ferani and Iqna Shar'a areas. The Zag.ra succession is dated as Ediacaran but is not related either to the ensimatic island arc assemblag. or to the rift-related assemblag. formed during.the early stag.s of the break-up of Rodinia
