Evaluation of Prediction Algorithms in the Student Dropout Problem

University dropout is a growing problem which, in recent years, is using computer techniques to assist in the detection process. The paper presents the evaluation of some prediction algorithms to detect a student with a high possibility of scholar desertion. The approach uses real data from past scholar periods to create a dataset with different information of the students (i.e., personal, economic, and academic records). The algorithms selected in the experimental phase were: J48 decision tree, K-near neighbors, and support vector machine. We use two similarity metrics to split the dataset with cases with at least 80% of similarity to evaluate each case. We use the data from 2010 to 2016 with real students’ information to predict if there exists the possibility of a real academic dropout in one test for a period. The results show that the J48 algorithm reaches a better performance in both experiments. Besides, the tree generated for each student is taken as a path of attention, reaching around 88% of effectiveness. Finally, the conclusions argue the contributions of the paper and propose a future line of research.

The misfolding and subsequent aggregation of proteins into amyloid fibrils underlie the onset of a variety of human disorders collectively known as ***(TTR)is one of the>30 amyloidogenic proteins identified to date and is associated with a group of highly debilitating and life-threatening disorders called TTR amyloidosis(ATTR).ATTR comprises senile systemic amyloidosis,which is linked to wild-type(WT)TTR aggregation,and hereditary ATTR,a dominantly inherited disorder caused by the deposition of one of over 130 TTR genetic *** systemic amyloidosis is a prevalent age-related amyloidosis,affecting up to 25%of the population over 80 years of age,and is characterized by the build-up of TTR fibrils in the *** hereditary ATTR,the clinical presentation is highly heterogeneous,primarily affecting the peripheral nervous system(familial amyloid polyneuropathy-FAP)or the heart(familial amyloid cardiomyopathy).In rare cases,aggregation develops in the central nervous system,giving rise to a phenotype known as familial leptomeningeal amyloidosis(Carroll et al.,2022).

In agreement with Titchmarsh’s theorem, we prove that dispersion relations are just the Fourier-transform of the identity, g(x′)=±Sgn(x′)g(x′), which defines the property of being a truncated functions at the origin. On the other hand, we prove that the wave-function of a generalized diffraction in time problem is just the Fourier-transform of a truncated function. Consequently, the existence of dispersion relations for the diffraction in time wave-function follows. We derive these explicit dispersion relations.

Most recent studies on regeneration of inner ear hair cells focus on use of stem cells, gene therapy and neurotrophic factors. Cochlear gene therapy has been successfully used in the treatment of neu- rosensory hearing loss. This suggests that cochlear hair cell regeneration is possible. The objective of this paper is to review research and clinical application of inner near hair cell regeneration.
