Purpose:The aim of the present study was to anal.ze the associations of youths' sedentary behavior(SB) with parents' and sibl.ngs' SB and physical.activity(PA),as wel. as the associations of youths' coparticipation with parents,sibl.ngs,and friends in PA and SB with youths' ***:The sampl. consisted of 1543 youths(12.02±2.51 years;788 boys) enrol.ed in the basel.ne cohort of the UP&DOWN *** was assessed by accel.rometry and *** reported the time spent by their parents and sibl.ngs watching tel.vision,pl.ying videogames,surfing the Internet,sitting/resting,and doing ***,participants reported coparticipation with parents,sibl.ngs,and friends in these *** mixed model.,incl.ding school.and city as random effects,were ***:Parents' tel.vision time was positivel. associated with youths' screen-based *** with friends in pl.ying videogames(in boys) and in surfing the Internet(in girl.) showed a positive association with screen-based SB and a negative association with educational.based ***,coparticipation with sibl.ngs and friends in PA was inversel. associated with accel.rometer-based SB in boys and ***:Our resul.s emphasize the important rol. of social.model.ng in the devel.pment of sedentary l.festyl.s in *** aimed at reducing heal.h risk behaviors in youths coul. be more effective if they are oriented from a social.perspective that invol.es their famil.es and networks of their cl.sest friends.

An anal.tical.methodol.gy based on an O-[2-(methacryl.yl.xy)-ethyl.arbamoyl.-10,11-dihydroquinidine(MQD)-sil.ca hybrid monol.thic col.mn was devel.ped for the enantioseparation of 9-fl.orenyl.ethoxycarbonyl.FMOC)derivatized amino acids by nano-l.quid *** mobil. phase was optimized incl.ding the apparent pH,content of ACN,and concentration of the buffer to obtain a satisfactory enantioresol.tion performance.27 FMOC derivatized amino acids incl.ding 19 protein and 8 non-protein amino acids were tested,and 19 out of them were enantiomerical.y discriminated obtaining basel.ne separation for 11 of *** characteristics of the method were eval.ated for norval.ne and tryptophan in terms of l.nearity,precision,accuracy,l.mits of detection(l.D)and quantitation(l.Q)showing good performance to be appl.ed to the enantiomeric determination of these amino acids in dietary *** and l.Q val.es were 9.3 and 31 mM for norval.ne enantiomers and 7.5 and 25 mM for tryptophan enantiomers,*** contents of D-norval.ne and D-tryptophan were bel.w their respective l.Ds in al. the anal.zed *** of l.tryptophan and l.norval.ne showed good agreement with the l.bel.d contents except for one sampl. which did not show presence of l.norval.ne,contrary to the l.bel.indication.

The pharmaceutical.compound indomethacin is not total.y removed in wastewater treatment pl.nts,whose effl.ents fl.w into aquatic environments;concentrations in the 0.1-100 ng/l.range are commonl. found in surface waters,and its fate is ***,biol.gical.photochemical.and thermal.degradation assays were conducted under stress and non-stress conditions to estimate its degradation rate in river water and establ.sh its degradation products over *** resul.s reveal.d that direct sunl.ght irradiation promoted the compl.te degradation of indomethacin（2 μg/l. in l.ss than 6 hr,but indomethacin was detected over a period of 4 months when water was kept under the natural.day-night cycl. and the exposure to sunl.ght was partial.y l.mited,as occurs inside a body of *** biol.gical.degradation in water was negl.gibl.,whil. the hydrol.sis at pH 7.8 was *** were monitored by ul.ra-pressure l.quid chromatography/quadrupol. time-of-fl.ght/mass spectrometry after sol.d-phase extraction,and six degradation products were found;their structures were proposed based on the mol.cul.r formul.e and fragmentation observed in high-resol.tion tandem mass spectra.4-Chl.robenzoic and 2-acetamido-5-methoxybenzoic acids were the l.ng-term transformation products,persisting for at l.ast 30 weeks in water kept under non-stress ***,the degradation in the presence of sediment was al.o monitored over time,with some differences being *** adsorption coefficients of indomethacin and degradation products on river sediment were cal.ul.ted;l.ng-term degradation products did not have significant adsorption to sediment.

The budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae serves as an effective model.organism for many cel.ul.r pathways incl.ding phosphate transport, accumul.tion, and storage. In S. cerevisiae, phosphate is activel. transported across the pl.sma membrane via several.phosphate carriers and is then transported into the acidic vacuol. (roughl. equival.nt to the mammal.an l.sosome with degradative functions but with additional.storage functions, such as cal.ium) where it is synthesized into vol.tin, a storage form of pol.phosphate, found in many organisms. We have been studying vol.tin granul. formation in wil. type cel.s to determine the physiol.gical.requirements for formation and in mutants to determine the pathway by which the vol.tin biosynthetic proteins are transported to the vacuol.. Undertaking an anal.sis of vol.tin formation in yeast vacuol.s by bl.cking vacuol. function with pharmacol.gical.agents, such as ionomycin and CCCP, we see that vacuol. pH as wel. as vacuol.r cal.ium seems critical.for vol.tin formation. Different bl.cks in vacuol.r protein sorting have differential.effects on vol.tin granul. accumul.tion, with vol.tin granul. formation seen in al. mutant strains thus far tested, except for vps33, a mutant cel. strain l.cking al. vacuol.r structure. Our data are consistent with pl.iotrophic effects of vacuol.r physiol.gical.function bl.cks l.ading to a decrease in vol.tin formation.

Bacterial.vaginosis:a synthesis of the l.terature on etiol.gy,preval.nce,risk factors,and rel.tionship with chl.mydia and gonorrhea infections

Bacterial.vaginosis(BV) is a common vaginal.disorder in women of reproductive age. Since the initial.work of l.opol.o in 1953 and Gardner and Dukes in 1955, researchers have not been abl. to identify the causative etiol.gic agent of BV. There is increasing evidence, however, that BV occurs when l.ctobacil.us spp., the predominant species in heal.hy vaginal.fl.ra, are repl.ced by anaerobic bacteria, such as Gardenel.a vaginal.s, Mobil.ncus curtisii, M. mul.eris, other anaerobic bacteria and/or Mycopl.sma hominis. Worl.wide, it estimated that 20%–30% of women of reproductive age attending sexual.y transmitted infection(STI) cl.nics suffer from BV, and that its preval.nce can be as high as 50%–60% in high-risk popul.tions(e.g., those who practice commercial.sex work(CSW). Epidemiol.gical.data show that women are more l.kel. to report BV if they: 1) have had a higher number of l.fetime sexual.partners; 2) are unmarried; 3) have engaged in their first intercourse at a younger age; 4) have engaged in CSW, and 5) practice regul.r douching. In the past decade, several.studies have provided evidence on the contribution of sexual.activity to BV. However, it is difficul. to state that BV is a STI without being abl. to identify the etiol.gic agent. BV has al.o emerged as a publ.c heal.h probl.m due to its association with other STIs, incl.ding: human immunodeficiency virus(HIV), herpes simpl.x virus type 2(HSV-2), Chl.mydia trachomatis(CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae(NG). The most recent evidence on the association between BV and CT/NG infection comes from two secondary anal.ses of cohort data conducted among women attending STI cl.nics. Based on these studies, women with BV had a 1.8 and 1.9-fol. increased risk for NG and CT infection, respectivel.. Taken together, BV is l.kel. a risk factor or at l.ast an important contributor to subsequent NG or CT infection in high-risk women. Paraoxonase-1(PON-1)is an enzyme that hydrol.zes organophosphate *** presence of pol.morphisms in PON-1(l.5M and Q192R)decreases its enzyme activity and increases the risk of central.nervous system(CNS)toxicity in occupational.y exposed farmers,l.ading to chronic degenerative diseases and *** studied 103 farmers in the region of Cienega Jal.sco,Mexico,which were exposed mainl. to organophosphate *** used serum and pl.sma sampl.s to assay PON-1 activity and perform pol.morphism anal.sis(l.5M and Q192R)using qPCR and TaqMan probes,*** both pol.morphisms,there was high percentage of heterozygosity(55 l.=0.19,l.=0.75,MM=0.06;192 QQ=0.12,QR=0.72,RR=0.16),whil. the al.el.c frequencies were more bal.nced(l.0.56,M=0.44;Q=0.48,R=0.52).There were no significant differences in enzyme activity of l.5M pol.morphism genotypes(l.=179.27;l.=192.11;MM=122.11;QQ=135.74;QR=187.90;RR=209;p>0.05).But there was a sl.ght decrease in enzyme activity for the Q192R pol.morphism *** genotype and al.ohol.consumption associated with sl.ght increases in enzyme ***,genotype and tobacco consumption did not have a significant effect on PON-1 activity(μU/ml.(p>0.05).Overal.,al.ohol.and tobacco consumption affected PON-1 enzyme activity(μU/ml.up to 21.1%.The data obtained in this study reveal.that PON-1 activity is affected by genetic variants such as Q192R and al.ohol.*** may infl.ence the susceptibil.ty of popul.tions to organophosphate poisoning.

Modul.r protein engineering is suited to recruit compl.x and mul.ipl. functional.ties in singl.-chain pol.peptides. Al.hough stil. unexpl.red in a systematic way, it is anticipated that the positioning of functional.domains woul. impact and refine these activities, incl.ding the abil.ty to organize as supramol.cul.r entities and to generate mul.ifunctional.protein material.. To expl.re this concept, we have repositioned functional.segments in the modul.r protein T22-GFP-H6 and characterized the resul.ing al.ernative fusions. In T22-GFP-H6, the combination of T22 and H6 promotes sel.assembl.ng as regul.r nanoparticl.s and sel.ctive binding and internal.zation of this material.in CXCR4-overexpressing tumor cel.s, making them appeal.ng as vehicl.s for sel.ctive drug del.very. The resul.s show that the pl.iotropic activities are dramatical.y affected in modul.-swapped constructs, proving the need of a carboxy terminal.positioning of H6 for protein sel.-assembl.ng, and the accommodation of T22 at the amino terminus as a requisite for CXCR4^+ cel. binding and internal.zation. Furthermore, the fail.re of sel.-assembl.ng as regul.r ol.gomers reduces cel.ul.r penetrabil.ty of the fusions whil. keeping the specificity of the T22-CXCR4 *** these data instruct how mul.ifunctional.nanoscal. protein carriers can be designed for smart, protein-driven drug del.very, not onl. for the treatment of CXCR4^+ human neopl.sias, but al.o for the devel.pment of anti-HIV drugs and other pathol.gies in which CXCR4 is a rel.vant homing marker.
