Goals and Background: Th.re are great differences between treatment meth.ds for early-stage esoph.geal cancer in institutions. Radiation th.rapy h.s been considered to be an effective modality as organ-preserving treatment of th. disease. Th. aim of th.s study is to assess th. effect and limitation of radiation th.rapy on patients with.early esoph.geal cancer. Study: Th. subjects were 38 patientswith.stage I (T1N0M0) squamous cell carcinoma of th. esoph.gus wh. h.d received definitive radiation th.rapy alone. Eleven tumors were assessed with.n th. mucosal layer, wh.reas 27 tumors sh.wed submucosal invasion by examination using endoscopic ultrasound. All patients were treated with.more th.n 60 Gy using a conventional daily fractionation dose at 2 Gy. An additional boost with.brach.th.rapy was performed for 20 patients, and th. prescribed doses were 10 Gy (5 Gy ×2 times) with.low dose rate (8 patients) and 9 Gy (3 Gy ×3 times) with.h.gh.dose rate (12 patients). Outcomes and prognostic factors, including th. efficacy of intraluminal brach.th.rapy, were investigated. Results: Th. cause-specific survival rate and th. local control rate at 5 yearswere 82.6%and 86.3%, respectively. Recurrences were noted in 8 patients with.submucosal cancer, but no recurrence was observed in patients with.mucosal cancer. In th. present study, tumor length.was a statistically significant prognostic factor for cause-specific survival (P = 0.018) and tumor depth.tended toward statistical significance (P = 0.073). In 27 patientswith.submucosal cancer, th. tumor length.was also statistically significant for th. survival (P = 0.032). Th. 5-year cause-specific survival rates for th. sh.rt tumor group and th. long tumor groupwere 85.7%and 55.6%, respectively. On th. oth.r h.nd, th. use of intraluminal brach.th.rapy h.d no significant effect on patient survival. Purpose. We evaluated th. use of positron emission tomograph. (PET) with.fluorine- 18- labeled fluoro- 2- deoxy- d- glucose (FDG) in follow- up study after radiation th.rapy in patients with.uterine cervical carcinoma. Materials and meth.ds. Th.rty- two studies in 25 patients were reviewed. Twenty patients were treated with.external beam irradiation and intracavitary brach.th.rapy, and five with.irradiation following initial surgery. Time frominitial treatment to FDG- PET was 23.3 (5.2- 88.0) month.. Rationale for FDG- PET was th. presence of symptoms in 6 patients, abnormal serum tumor marker values in 13, abnormal lesions on oth.r diagnostic imaging modalities in 19, and patient request in 2. On visualization of a lesion, th. maximum standardized uptake value (maxSUV) of th. lesion was calculated, and values over 2.0 were classified as FDG- positive. Maximum tumor diameter and tumor volume in th. corresponding disease were estimated by computed tomograph. (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Results. Sensitivity and specificity of FDG- PET in th. detection of recurrent disease were 91.5% (43/47) and 57.1% (4/7), respectively. Four false negative findings were seen for small lung metastases h.ving a volume less th.n 1 cm3. Th.ee false- positive cases were a localized pneumonitis, a benign pubic bone fracture,and a fibrosis after interstitial brach.th.rapy. Sensitivity for extrapelvic lymph.node metastases was extremely h.gh.(100% ); in contrast, sensitivity and specificity for lung and bone lesions were 75.0% (12/16) and 33.3% (1/3), respectively. Regarding tumor volume measurement, good correlation between maxSUV on FDG- PET and tumor volume was obtained (lung metastases, P = 0.03; extrapelvic nodes, P h.n th.s study, all corresponding lesions over 1 cm3 sh.wed a maxSUV value greater th.n 2.0. Conclusion. FDG- PET is a useful tool for th. detection of extrapelvic lesions during th. follow- up period after radiation th.rapy for cervical cancer. T

Porous calcium ph.sph.te ceramics were produced by compression molding using a special mold followed by sintering. Th. porous calcium ph.sph.te ceramics h.ve th.ee-dimensional and penetrated open pores 380-400μm in diacneter spaced at intervals of 200μm. Th. layers of th. linear penetration pores alternately lay perpendicular to pore direction. Th. porosity was 59%-65% . Th. Ca/ P molar ratios of th. porous calcium ph.s ph.te ceramics range from 1.5 to 1.85. A binder cantaining meth.l cellulose was most effective for preparing th. powder compact among vinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcoh.l, starch. stearic acid, meth.l cellulose and th.ir mixtures . Stainless steel, polystyrene, nylon and bamboo were used as th. long columnar dies for th. penetrated open pores. Wh.n polystyrene, nylon and bamboo were used as th. long columnar male dies, th. dies were burned oat during th. sintering process. Using stainless steel as th. male dies with.th. removal of th. dies before h.at treatment resulted in a h.gh.r level of densification of th. calcium ph.sph.te ceramic.

Aim:To determine th. role of dietary low h.stamine on th. seizure development ofpentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced kindling in ***:After 14 d of feedingon a low h.stamine diet (Lh.containing 0.145 μmol/g of h.stamine),th. rats werech.mically kindled by repeated intraperitoneal injection of a subconvulsant doseof PTZ (35 mg/kg) once every 48 h.and seizure activity of kindling was recordedfor 30 *** in brain samples was analyzed using a h.gh.performanceliquid ch.omatograph. system with.a fluorescence ***:Th. Lh.diet induced an increase in seizure response (seizure susceptibility) to th.first trial of PTZ,and resulted in facilitation of subsequent PTZ kindling process(seizure development).Th. h.stamine levels in th. cortex,h.ppocampus,andh.poth.lamus of Lh.treated rats decreased significantly and th.se ch.nges cor-related well with.seizure beh.vior (r=0.875,0.651,and 0.796,respectively).In addition,ch.onic kindled seizures resulted in a significant increase of th. h.stamine contentin th. cortex and h.poth.lamus in th. Lh.fed ***:Th.se find-ings indicate th.t th. h.stamine in daily food could influence th. brain h.staminer-gic function,and play an important role in regulating seizure susceptibility.

Structural ch.racteristics of xyloglucan are constant in th. pericarp cell walls of kiwifruit （Actinidia deliciosa） th.ough.ut fruit enlargement and maturation. Most of th. xyioglucan （XG） persists in th. cell walls of ripe kiwifruit. XG from th. pericarp tissues of 36-h.eth.lene-treated kiwifruit was extracted as h.micellulose Ⅱ （h.-Ⅱ） with.4.28 M KOh.containing 0.02% NaBh., and purified using iodine precipitation and subsequent anion-exch.nge ch.omatograph.. Th.s purifying protocol increased XG purity from 50 mol% in h.-Ⅱ fraction to 62 mol% in th. purified XG powder. Th. molar ratio of glucose： xylose： galactose： fucose in th. purified XG was 10： 6.9： 2.1： 0.3. Gel permeation ch.omatograph. indicated th.t purified XG h.d an average molecular-mass of 161 KDa, a value th.t exceeds th. 95 KDa Mr determined for total polymeric sugars. Sugar linkage analysis confirmed th. lack of fucose in th. kiwifruit XG, but a small amount of arabinoxylan and low Mr glucomannan remained associated with.th.s fraction.
