One of the primary goals of the space exploration community is to unambiguously detect past or present life outside of *** such,a number of so-called life detection technologies,instruments,and approaches have been applied as part of past,current,and future space *** astrobiology is a truly interdisciplinary field within the realm of space exploration with major contributions from physical and biological sciences(among others),recently there has been development of a number of relevant techniques from scientific fields that have yet to be fully applied to extraterrestrial life *** a culmination of the 2021 blue Marble Space Institute of Science(bMSIS)Young Scientist Program(YSP),we present a number of techniques drawn from various fields(including,but not limited to,chemistry,materials science,biology,nanotechnology,medical science,astrophysics,and more)that either have been or have the potential to be applied to life detection *** techniques broadly fall under three categories:instrumentation for in situ measurements of biosignatures within the solar system,calculations or observational techniques for remote measurements of exoplanet biosignatures,and *** hope that this primer serves to inspire the field to consider applying more potential technologies from adjacent fields into any of these three categories of life detection.

In this work we used CdS NWs(nanowires)with vanadium carbide(VC)attached via facile electrostatic self‐assembly and calcination *** results showed that compared to pristine CdS NWs,the photocatalytic activity of CdS NWs loaded with the particular amount of VC was dramatically *** them,the VC/CS‐15 indicated the highest enhancement for simultaneous production of H2 with selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol(bO)into benzaldehyde(bD).The highest hydrogen evolution rate of 20.5 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1)was obtained with more than 99%selectivity for bD production under visible light(λ˃420 nm)irradiation for 2 h,which was almost 661 times higher than the pristine CdS *** enhancement of photocatalytic activity is due to the VC,which provides a favorable attraction for bO by lowering the zeta potential,along with the active site for hydrogen production,and retard the recombination of electron‐hole pairs by increasing the conductivity of the ***,the apparent quantum efficiency(AQE)of VC/CS‐15 for bD and H_(2)production at monochromatic 420 nm is about 7.5%.At the end of the hydrogen evolution test,the selective oxidation with more than 99%selectivity was *** hopes this work will prove its future significance and move scientific community toward a more economical way for achieving the commercialization of H_(2) by photocatalysis.

Genetic Diversity of the Palestinian Fig (<i>Ficus carica</i>L.) Collection by Pomological Traits and RAPD Markers

Analysis of differentiation (genetic diversity and related relationships) among 22 landrace (Ficus carica L. sativa) and 2 wild form (F. carica L. caprificus) accessions of fig growing under the same environmental conditions in the Palestinian Fig Collection, Til, Nablus, Palestine, using PCR-based Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and pomological markers, revealed considerable genetic diversity. The phenotypic analysis shows that pomological traits were permitted to evaluate morphological variability of fig landraces. The Jaccard similarity coefficient between landraces was determined by cluster analysis using the UPGMA method. based on the genetic relationships among genotypes as illustrated by the dendrograms, generated from pomological and RAPD data by UPGMA clustering method, the following 12 genotypes: Qaisi, Mwazi, barqawi, Inaqi, Swadi, Kharobi, Hmadibiadi, Sfari, Khdari, biadi, Qrawi, and Slati, may be considered as distinct landraces. The remaining genotypes may be considered as synonymous (4) (Hmadi and Hmari, and Ajloni and Adloni), or closely related (6) landraces (Zraqi and Ghzali, blati and Neami, and Qraee and Khurtmani). The wild fig forms clustered together and may be considered as distinct genotypes. Clustering patterns obtained from the combined (pomological and RAPD) markers had higher discriminatory power to discriminate fig landraces than using either pomological or RAPD markers alone. These results proved the importance of both pomological and RAPD markers to elucidate in part denomination problems and relationships among cultivars. Wide phenotypic and molecular diversity found in fig germplasm indicates a considerable potential for improving this crop.

Performance Evaluation &Operation of DSP Control UPS System

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a power conditioner that provides emergency power to a load when the supply power fails. In on-line UPS, the load is always connected to the inverter through the UPS static switch. Specialized expertise was required for collection, analysis, and dissemination of technical information relating to high quality uninterruptible power systems. Inherent in these responsibilities is the coordination of technical and contractual matters relating to the procurement and installation of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems which were required to support these facilities. The proposed circuit incorporates an AC/DC & DC & AC converter, which provided power factor correction and to assure feedback control. In our project when the AC main is available, the rectifier circuit will supply the power to the inverter as well as to the battery and battery will be charged. If the supply power fails suddenly, the battery will supply power to the inverter without any interruption and delay. In the constant current charging technique, a digital charger was designed and controlled through PIC12F675 microcontroller. In the realized system, The PIC16C73b was used as microcontroller. It was used to generate sinusoidal PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals that are connected to drive n-channel MOSFETs in inverter to assure feedback control and display units. The power circuit of the proposed UPS system was presented and analyzed. Circuit models were derived and a UPS digital control system using a digital signal processing (DSP) with microcontroller has been developed. The uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) are widely used by power supply during interruption of regular power supply due to load shedding, power failure, power fluctuations including telecommunication systems, medical systems, industrial control systems etc.

Urine immune profiling by measurement of multiple cytokine/chemokine mRNA levels in renal allograft dysfunction

background: An accurate diagnosis of cause of acute renal graft dysfunction is crucial for the optimal management of transplant recipients. Currently available tests are either insensitive or nonspecific, or are invasive, such as allograft biopsy. During last decade, attempts have been made in search of non invasive markers for the evaluation of cause of graft dysfunction. We studied a set of genes expressed on cytotoxic T Lymphocytes and those related to functioning of regulatory or helper T cells. Methods: We obtained 108 urine samples from 108 renal allograft recipients at the time of graft biopsy done for the evaluation of cause of graft dysfunction. RNA was extracted from urinary cells and messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding perforin, granzyme b (Gb), FoxP3, CD3?, CXCR3, TGF-?, CTLA4, PI-9, IL-10, TNF?, T-bet and 18SrRNA measured with the use of quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The levels of expression of genes were correlated with the biopsy findings and the results compared among different groups. Renal allograft biopsies at this institution are performed when there is unexplained rise in serum creatinine of >20% from the baseline value and reported according to banff classification. SPSS v10.0 used for ***: The mRNA copy numbers of Gb, Perforin, FoxP3, CD3, CXCR3, TGF-?, CTL A4, PI9, IL-10, TNF?, and T-bet were log transformed and mean (± SD) levels studied. The expression of all studied genes were compared between ‘nonspecific biopsy findings’ and other specific diagnoses. Gb, Perforin, FoxP3, TGF-?, CD3?, CTLA4 CXCR3 and T-bet were higher in acute cellular rejection (ACR), whereas, TGF-? was also found higher in infection, and PI-9 in chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN) and borderline rejection group. Conclusion: Measurement of mRNA levels for genes like Gb, Perforin, FoxP3, TGF-β, CD3?, CTLA4, CXCR3 and T-bet in urine samples offers a non invasive means of diag-nosing cause of graft dysfunction.
