Photosynthesis, enzyme activities and metabolite pools associated with primary carbon metabolism in leaves were studied in O. grandiglumis and O. alta （wild relatives of rice which produce high biomass） versus O. sativa （a japonica cultivar and a indica-japonica hybrid） to assess their potential for identifying traits which might be utilized to enhance rice productivity. The wild relatives had higher rates of photosynthesis on a fresh weight basis, and higher water use efficiency than the O. sativa lines. There were no striking differences in activities of a number of key enzymes in carbon and nitrogen metabolism between the wild relatives and cultivated rice lines. Along with higher rates of photosynthesis on a fresh weight basis, the leaves of the two wild species had higher nitrate content, higher levels of starch, glucose and fructose, and higher levels of organic acids （malate, succinate and acetate）, compared to the O. sativa lines. The results suggested that O. grandiglumis and O. alta have differences in physiology and primary metabolism which might be exploited to improve growth and productivity of cultivated rice.

Fe alloy composites reinforced with in-situ titanium carbide （TIC） particles were fabricated by reactive sintering us.ng different reactant C/Ti ratios of 0.8, 0.9, 1 and 1.1 to investigate the microstructure and mechanical properties ofin-situ TiC/Fe alloy composites. The microstructure showed that the in-situ syn- thesized TiC particles were spherical with a size of 1-3 }~m, irrespective of C/Ti ratio. The stoichiometry of in-situ TiC increased from 0.85 to 0.88 with increas.ng C/Ti ratio from 0.8 to 0.9, but remained almost unchanged for C/Ti ratios between 0.9 and 1.1 due to the same driving force for carbon diffusion in TiCx at the common sintering temperature. The in-situ TiC/Fe alloy composite with C[Ti ~ 0.9 showed improved mechanical properties compared with other C/Ti ratios because the presence of excess carbon （C/Ti = 1 and 1.1） resulted in unreacted carbon within the Fe alloy matrix, while insufficient carbon （C/Ti = 0.8） caused the depletion of carbon from the Fe alloy matrix, leading to a significant decrease in hardness. This study presents that the maximized hardness and superior strength of in-situ TiC/Fe alloy composites can be achieved by microstructure control and stoichiometric analysis of the in-situ synthesized TiC par- ticles, while maintaining the ductility of the composites, compared to those of the unreinforced Fe alloy. Therefore, we anticipate that the in-situ synthesized TiC/Fe alloy composites with enhanced mechanical properties have great potential in cutting tool, mold and roller material applications.

Trichomonas vaginalis infection is one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted infections in humans and is now recognized as an important cause of infertility in men. There is little information about the effect of extracellular polymeric substances （EPs） from T. vaginalis on sperm, but previous reports do not provide a conclusive description of the functional integrity of the sperm. To investigate the impact of EPs on the fertilizing capacity of sperm, we assessed sperm motility, acrosomal status, hypo-osmotic swelling, and in vitro fertilization rate after incubating the sperm with EPs in vitro us.ng mice. The incubation of sperm with EPs significantly decreased sperm motility, viability, and functional integrity in a concentration and time-dependent manner. These effects on sperm quality also resulted in a decreased fertilization rate in vitro. This is the first report that demonstrates the direct negative impact of the EPs of T. vaginalis on the fertilization rate of sperm in vitro. However, further study should be performed us.ng human sperm to determine if EPs has similar negative impact on human sperm fertilizing capacity in vitro.

Although there is a high demand for absorption-dominant electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding materials for 5G millimeter-wave(mmWave) frequencies, most current shielding materials are based on reflection-dominant conductive materials. While there are few absorption-dominant shielding materials proposed with magnetic materials, their working frequencies are usually limited to under 30 GHz. In this study, a novel multi-band absorption-dominant EMI shielding film with M-type strontium ferrites and a conductive grid is proposed. This film shows ultralow EMI reflection of less than 5% in multiple mmWave frequency bands with sub-millimeter thicknesses, while shielding more than 99.9% of EMI. The ultralow reflection frequency bands are controllable by tuning the ferromagnetic resonance frequency of M-type strontium ferrites and composite layer geometries. Two examples of shielding films with ultralow reflection frequencies, one for 39 and 52 GHz 5G telecommunication bands and the other for 60 and 77 GHz autonomous radar bands, are presented. The remarkably low reflectance and thinness of the proposed films provide an important advancement toward the commercialization of EMI shielding materials for 5G mmWave applications.

This study analyzes the impact of a newly emerging type of anti-money laundering regulation that obligates cryptocurrency exchanges to report suspicious transactions to financial *** build a theoretical model for the reporting decision structure of a private bank or cryptocurrency exchange and show that an inferior ability to detect money laundering(ML)increases the ratio of reported transactions to unreported *** a representative money launderer makes an optimal portfolio choice,then this ratio increases *** findings suggest that cryptocurrency exchanges will exhibit more excessive reporting behavior under this regulation than private *** attribute this result to cryptocurrency exchanges’inferior ML detection abilities and their proximity to the underground economy.

Objective:There has been a demand for a tumor-specific marker for metastatic lymph nodes in sentinel navigation surgery for gastric *** aim of this study is to analyze protein expression in both primary tumors and metastatic lymph nodes in early gastric cancer ***:We collected primary tumors and metastatic lymph nodes from 71 patients who underwent curative gastrectomy and pathologically diagnosed with T1 N1 or T1 N2(8 th Union for International Cancer Control 8 th edition/American Joint Committee on Cancer staging system)gastric *** was used to determine the expression of six cell membrane proteins,including carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),E-cadherin,epithelial cell adhesion molecule(Ep CAM),P-cadherin,CD44 v6,and c-erb B2 in the patient ***:The expression of CEA,E-cadherin,Ep CAM,P-cadherin,CD44 v6 and c-erb B2 in the evaluable primary tumor samples was 75.4%,97.1%,100%,89.9%,11.1%and 7.2%,*** cases wherein both the primary tumor and metastatic lymph nodes were evaluable,double positivity(expression in both primary tumor and metastatic lymph nodes)was observed for CEA,E-cadherin,Ep CAM,P-cadherin,CD44 v6 and c-erb B2 in 53.2%,97.9%,98.1%,76.6%,0 and 6.8%of the cases,*** proportion of metastatic lymph nodes positive for CEA,E-cadherin,Ep CAM,P-cadherin,CD44 v6 and c-erb B2 was 71.4%,100%,98.1%,83.7%,0,and75%,respectively in primary tumors positive for the same ***:E-cadherin and Ep CAM had an overlap of 100%and 98.1%between the primary tumor and metastatic lymph nodes,***,E-cadherin and Ep CAM are potential molecular markers to detect metastatic lymph nodes in patients with early gastric cancer.

This study develops a mixed behavioural equilibrium model with explicit consideration of mode choice(MBE-MC)in a transportation system where fully automated vehicles(AV)coexist with conventional human-driven vehicles(HV).For the mode choice,travellers select among three options,following a logit modal split:driving their private HV,or taking an AV mobility service provided by either a firm or the *** the route choice,the HV drivers follow the random utility maximisation principle while central agents route the AV pass.ngers following the Cournot Nash(firm agent)or social Optimal(government agent)*** consider two types of travel costs(*** time and monetary travel cost)to characterise the new features(*** link capacity and reduced value of time)of the mixed AVeHV transportation *** model the MBE-MC problem in a combined modeeroute choice framework and formulate it as a route-based variational inequality(VI)*** show the equivalence between the VI formulation and the MBE-MC problem,and the existence of a solution to the MBE-MC ***,we modify a partial linearisation algorithm for solving the proposed *** results validate the equilibrium conditions and show the efficacy of the new model in capturing the features of the mixed AVeHV transportation *** impact patterns of different parameters on(1)the network performance in terms of AV share and system cost and(2)on the solution efficiency are analysed.
