High power density technologies for large generators and motors for marine applications with focus on electrical insulation challenges

High power density generators and motors are envisaged in modern all-electric ships where electrical power for both propulsion and service loads is provided through a common electrical platform known as an integrated power *** recent high-power density technologies for generators and motors proposed for marine applications are reviewed,and the author focuses on their electrical insulation *** technologies are high-frequency(high-speed)generators(200–400 Hz),superconducting generators,and novel insulation materials and *** high-speed generators,high loss in magnetic materials may shorten its insulation ***,these generators should be designed to be cooled by water instead of *** superconducting generators,the most significant concern is the integrity of the insulation system over the large thermal excursion whenever the system is cycled between room temperature and operating *** novel insulation materials and systems section:(i)using mica paper tapes containing boron nitride filler in the binding resin of the glass backing insulation,developed by Toshiba and Von Roll,resulted in a 15%increase in the MVA of generators for the same slot dimensions and operating temperatures,(ii)GE developed an enhanced polyethylene glycol terephthalate-mica tape having superior voltageendurance characteristics,(iii)Isovolta has introduced a mica paper tape using a flat glass fibre backing material,called Powerfab,rather than the more common woven structure,leading to a 15%reduced mica tape,and(iv)adding novel nanocomposites as fillers to ground wall insulation,introduced by siemens,is a promising technique towards more high power density ***,accelerated aging of insulation systems especially those in electrical rotating machines exposed to voltage pluses with high slew rates up to hundreds of kV/μs and high-repetition rates ranging from hundreds of kHz to MHz is *** voltage pulses are generated by wide bandga

Entropy of Quantum Dynamical systems and sufficient Families in Orthomodular Lattices with Bayessian state

The purpose of the present paper is to study the entropy hs（Ф） of a quantum dynamical systems Ф = （ L, s, Ф）, where s is a bayessian state on an orthomodular lattice L. Having introduced the notion of entropy hs（ Ф, A） of partition A of a Boolean algebra B with respect to a state s and a state preserving homomorphism Ф, we prove a few results on that, define the entropy of a dynamical system hs（Ф）, and show its invariance. The concept of sufficient families is also given and we establish that hs （Ф） comes out to be equal to the supremum of hs （Ф,A）, where A varies over any sufficient family. The present theory has then been extended to the quantum dynamical system （ L, s, Ф）, which as an effect of the theory of commutators and Bell inequalities can equivalently be replaced by the dynamical system （B, s0, Ф）, where B is a Boolean algebra and so is a state on B.

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a chronic and common form of dementia that mainly affects elderly *** disease is dangerous because it causes damage to brain cells and tissues before the symptoms appear,and there is nomedicinal or surgical treatment available yet *** loss of memory and functionality control in multiple degrees according to AD’s progression ***,early diagnosis of AD can hinder its *** imaging tools such as magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),computed tomography(CT)scans,positron emission tomography(PET),*** help in medical diagnosis of ***,computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)such as deep learning applied to brain images obtained with these tools,has been an established strategic methodology that is widely used for clinical assistance in prognosis of *** this study,we proposed an intelligent methodology for building a convolutional neural network(CNN)from scratch to detect AD stages from the brain MRI images dataset and to improve patient *** is worth mentioning that training a deep-learning model requires a large amount of data to produce accurate results and prevent the model from overfitting ***,for better understanding of classifiers and to overcome the model overfitting problem,we applied data augmentation to the minority classes in order to increase the number of MRI images in the *** experiments were conducted using Alzheimer’s MRI dataset consisting of brain MRI scanned *** performance of the proposed model determines detection of the four stages of *** results show high performance of the proposed model in that the model achieved a 99.38%accuracy rate,which is the highest so ***,the proposed model performance in terms of accuracy,precision,sensitivity,specificity,and f-measures is promising when compared to the very recent state-of-the-art domain-specific models existing in the literature.

Tuberculosis terminal ileitis:A forgotten entity mimicking Crohn's disease

Intestinal tuberculosis(TB) is an uncommon lesion for which differential diagnosis can be difficult. We present a case of a 53-year-old male and a systematic review of the literature, from clinical symptoms to differential diagnosis, unusual complications and therapy. The patient was admitted to the hospital with signs of acute abdomen as a result of a perforated terminal ileitis. Based on the skip lesions of the terminal ileum and cecum, Crohn's disease(CD) was clinically suspected. An emergency laparotomy and right colectomy with terminal ileum resection was performed and systematic antibiotherapy was prescribed. The patient's status deteriorated and he died 4 d after the surgical intervention. At the autopsy, TB ileotyphlitis was discovered. The clinical criteria of the differential diagnosis between intestinal TB and CD are not very well established. Despite the large amount of published articles on this subject, only 50 papers present new data regarding intestinal TB. Based on these studies and our experience, we present an update focused on the differential diagnosis and therapy of intestinal TB. We highlight the importance of considering intestinal TB as a differential diagnosis for inflammatory bowel disease. Despite the modern techniques of diagnosis and therapy, the fulminant evolution of TB can still lead to a patient's death.

Cystic jejunal duplication with Heinrich's type Ⅰ ectopic pancreas, incidentally discovered in a patient with pancreatic tail neoplasm

The aim of this study was to present a case of enteric duplication cyst and criteria for a proper differential diagnosis. A 51-year-old male was hospitalized for pancreatic tail neoplasm and distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy was performed. During surgery, a jejunal cystic lesion was incidentally detected and jejunectomy was performed. Microscopically, the cyst was observed to be covered by Keratin 7/Keratin 20 positive intestinal type epithelium and the muscularis layer was shared by the cyst and adjacent jejunum, without a cleavage plane between the cyst wall and jejunal muscularis propria. In the deep muscularis propria, a Heinrich's type Ⅰ ectopic pancreas was also noted. In the pancreatic tail, a low grade intraepithelial lesion(panIN-1a) was diagnosed. This case highlights the necessity for a correct differential diagnosis of such rare lesions. Roughly 30 cases of jejunal duplication cysts have been reported to date in the PubM ed database.

single skip metastasis in sentinel lymph node: In an early gastric cancer

Lymph node status is considered a key prognostic and predictive factor in patients with gastric cancer(GC).Although there is a practical approach to the intraoperative detection of sentinel lymph nodes(sLNs),such a procedure is not included in the European surgical *** this report,we present a practical approach to sLN mapping in a representative case with early gastric cancer(EGC).A 74-year-old female was hospitalized with an endoscopically observed,superficially ulcerated tumor located in the antral *** gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy and sLN mapping was performed by injecting methylene blue dye into the peritumoral submucosal *** incidentally detected blue-stained lymph node located along the middle colic artery was also *** was detected 40 min after injection of the methylene *** examination showed a p T1b-staged well-differentiated HER-2-negative *** of the 41 LNs located at the first,third,and fifth station of the regional LN compartments were found to be free of tumor *** only lymph node with metastasis was located along the middle colicartery and was considered a non-regional lymph *** incidentally identified skip metastasis indicated stage Ⅳ GC.A classic chemotherapy regimen was given,and no recurrences were observed six months after *** this representative case,low-cost sLN mapping,with a longer intraoperative waiting time,totally changed the stage of the tumor in a patient with EGC.

snapshot multispectral imaging using a diffractive optical network

Multispectral imaging has been used for numerous applications in e.g.,environmental monitoring,aerospace,defense,and ***,we present a diffractive optical network-based multispectral imaging system trained using deep learning to create a virtual spectral filter array at the output image *** diffractive multispectral imager performs spatially-coherent imaging over a large spectrum,and at the same time,routes a pre-determined set of spectral channels onto an array of pixels at the output plane,converting a monochrome focal-plane array or image sensor into a multispectral imaging device without any spectral filters or image recovery ***,the spectral responsivity of this diffractive multispectral imager is not sensitive to input polarization *** numerical simulations,we present different diffractive network designs that achieve snapshot multispectral imaging with 4,9 and 16 unique spectral bands within the visible spectrum,based on passive spatially-structured diffractive surfaces,with a compact design that axially spans ~72λ_(m),where λ_(m) is the mean wavelength of the spectral band of ***,we experimentally demonstrate a diffractive multispectral imager based on a 3D-printed diffractive network that creates at its output image plane a spatially repeating virtual spectral filter array with 2×2=4 unique bands at terahertz *** to their compact form factor and computation-free,power-efficient and polarization-insensitive forward operation,diffractive multispectral imagers can be transformative for various imaging and sensing applications and be used at different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum where high-density and wide-area multispectral pixel arrays are not widely available.
