China has become the second largest economy in the world in a historically unprecedented space of ***,China has begun to exert a form of geoeconomic influence that is changing the way we think about both the nature of international relations in the 21st century and about the precise uses China’s policymakers will put their growing power *** paper explores these debates and China’s evolving approach to foreign and strategic policies through the prism of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI).If the BRI becomes a reality it will quite literally cement China’s place at the centre of a regional network of production processes that will inevitability enhance China’s overall economic and geopolitical *** the very least,China’s ascent is forcing a reassessment about the nature of power and influence in the contemporary international *** only is the nature of economic organisation currently raising important theoretical and practical questions about the basis of international competition,but it is also becoming increasingly clear that the power and influence of national governments are largely determined by relative shifts in the balance of economic power,as much as it is by more traditional strategic factors.

t Read as a form of social document, one of the most interesting areas of life illuminated by the huapu （＂flower-guides,＂ that is, theatergoers＇ lists, rankings, and descriptions of the Beijing theater＇s boy-actors）, is what they show us in relation to literati leisure in nineteenth-century Beijing. In this paper I employ the spatial/relational tropes of parergon, ekphrasis, and heterotopia to consider how huapu texts are positioned as supplement in relation to the staging of dramatic works, to boy-actors＇ performance and embodiment of erotic fantasy, as well as to performance and play among aspiring paragons of gentlemanly refinement. Doubly turned away from the stage and from public events, huapu celebrate several levels of subjective taste and deploy varying tropes of social exchange, and it was by playing with these things that they also recorded and reproduced a literati need to play with contemporary confusion around the place of private and public discourse.

Algernon Charles swinburne’s late poems encouraging Britain’s aggression against the Boer states are exercises in imperialist jingoism,and seem at odds with the poet's longstanding Republicanism and advocacy of individual rights.A close examination of swinburne’s notorious involvement in practices of sado-masochist flagellation,however,casts some light on how these poems can be read as congruent with his earlier ideological *** rhetoric of his Boer War poems is precisely aligned with his earlier responses to the Bulgarian Crisis of 1876 and the Eyre Affair of 1865;in both of these moments,swinburne’s political reaction is keyed to his aversion to the use of the lash(by the Russians in the former,by the British colonial Jamaican regime in the latter).While swinburne was something of a connoiseur of passive flagellation-to the extent that birching becomes sometimes a metaphor for poetry itself-the act of deploying the lash against an unwilling subject(as the Boers did to their African workers)is for him the epitome of tyranny and dehumanization.

“Yeux Glauques,”the sixth poem of Ezra Pound’s 1920 Hugh selwyn Mauberley,has been read as an indictment of Victorian viewers’and readers’rejection of Pre-Raphaelite art and poetry,a rejection proleptic of Georgian readers’rejection of Pound’s own *** is largely *** the poem’s citation(in its first stanza)of John Ruskin’s“Of Kings’Treasuries”can be read as directing readers’attention to Ruskin’s 1864 lecture,in part an exhortation to examine the etymologies of the words of the texts they *** an etymological examination of“glauques”in the poem’s title in effect reinforces a secondary implication of the poem as a whole:that the Pre-Raphaelite movement suffered from its members’failure to convincingly or feelingly represent active female subjectivity.

Utilizing anaerobic metabolisms for the production of biotechnologically relevant products presents potential advantages,such as increased yields and reduced energy ***,lower energy dissipation may indicate that certain reactions are operating closer to their thermodynamic *** stoichiometric analyses and genetic modifications are frequently employed in metabolic engineering,the use of thermodynamic tools to evaluate the feasibility of planned interventions is less *** this study,we propose a novel metabolic engineering strategy to achieve an efficient anaerobic production of poly-(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate(PHB)in the model organism Escherichia *** approach involves re-routing of two-thirds of the glycolytic flux through non-oxidative glycolysis and coupling PHB synthesis with NADH *** complemented our stoichiometric analysis with various thermodynamic approaches to assess the feasibility and the bottlenecks in the proposed engineered *** to our calculations,the main thermodynamic bottleneck are the reactions catalyzed by the acetoacetyl-CoAβ-ketothiolase(EC 2.***.1.9)and the acetoacetyl-CoA reductase(EC 1.***.1.36).Furthermore,we calculated thermodynamically consistent sets of kinetic parameters to determine the enzyme amounts required for sustaining the conversion *** the case of the engineered conversion route,the protein pool necessary to sustain the desired fluxes could account for 20%of the whole cell dry weight.

Coordination of motion between multiple robots requires the robots to sense their relative poses. Common sensors depend on maintaining a line-of-sight between the sensor and the object being sensed. When the robots move relative to one another, they must coordinate their motions to ensure that these lines-of-sight are preserved. We propose a control method to preserve desired lines-of-sight in a multi-robot system where each robot has configuration space sE（3）. A key feature of the control method is its ability to reject persistent bounded disturbances, enabling its use alongside additional control tasks. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the edge-preserving control in simulations involving additional input velocities that tend to break the edges.

For sustainable water resource management,it is important to determine the relationship between streamfl ow and other variables that infl uence availability of water ***,many catchments do not have suffi cient data to allow for a more detailed study of these *** faced a similar challenge in the Chengcun Basin(limited historical data: from 1986–1999); and therefore we used a new approach to overcome *** found that,using nonparametric trend methods in conjunction with the climate elasticity analyses and the 2D visualization of hydrologic data,it is possible to assess the relationships between streamfl ow and other hydro-climatic *** the past,streamfl ow trends in the basin were more correlated with precipitation than with potential evapotranspiration(PET).In addition,there is a gradual shift in the hydrological regime of the catchment,which may affect the occurrence of available water resources and activities that depend on *** addition,based on our climate sensitivity analyses,the streamfl ow is dependent and more sensitive to variations in precipitation than to PET(δQ=0.79δP+0.42δE; precipitation elasticity,ε P=1.32; PET elasticity,ε E=-2.10).Therefore pending more detailed studies,the use of our approach will provide a rapid means to assess the variation of water resources(streamfl ow)in a *** the future,we hope to carry out related research in other watersheds and also perform a more detailed studies to improve upon the results of this study.

Fibrogenesis imperfecta ossium is a rare disorder of bone usually characterized by marked osteopenia and associated with variable osteoporosis and osteosclerosis, changing over time. Histological examination shows that newly formed collagen is abnormal, lacking birefringence when examined by polarized light. The case presented demonstrates these features and, in addition, a previously undocumented finding of a persistent marked reduction of the serum C3 and C4. Osteoblasts established in culture from a bone biopsy showed abnormal morphology on electron microscopy and increased proliferation when cultured with benzoylbenzoyl-ATP and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, contrasting with findings in normal osteoblasts in culture. A gene microarray study showed marked upregulation of the messenger RNA(mRNA) for G-protein-coupled receptor 128(GPR 128), an orphan receptor of unknown function and also of osteoprotegerin in the patient's osteoblasts in culture. When normal osteoblasts were cultured with the patient's serum, there was.marked upregulation of the mRNA for aquaporin 1. A single pathogenetic factor to account for the features of this disorder has not been defined, but the unique findings described here may facilitate more definitive investigation of the abnormal bone cell function.
