stillwater Mining Company is the only U.s. producer of platinum group metals （PGMs） and the largest producer outside of south Afiica and Russia. The company controls a considerable portion of the J-M reef and is currently developing the ＂Blitz Project,＂ which will provide a main haulage level, ore pass systems, backfill plants, and fiow-through ventilation to increase production and ensure sustainable extraction of this critical strategic mineral. While driving two sub-parallel footwall laterals 8125 m in length, one of the development drifts experienced a massive fall in a geologically disturbed area created by a mafic dike intrusion. Combinations of a void fill material （Tekseal）, polyurethane injection, fore poling coupled with steel arches, and supplemental bolting allow safe and efficient advance through this geologically dis- turbed zone. This paper presents the details of this project.

Background:Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALs)is currently an incurable disease without highly effective pharmacological *** peptide drug GM604(GM6 or Alirinetide)was developed as a candidate ALs therapy,which has demonstrated safety and good drug-like properties with a favorable pharmacokinetic ***6 is hypothesized to bolster neuron survival through the multi-target regulation of developmental pathways,but mechanisms of action are not fully ***:This study used RNA-seq to evaluate transcriptome responses in sH-sY5Y neuroblastoma cells following GM6 treatment(6,24 and 48 h).Results:We identified 2867 protein-coding genes with expression significantly altered by GM6(FDRsponses included up-regulation of Notch and hedgehog signaling components,with increased expression of developmental genes mediating neurogenesis and axon *** GM6 treatment(24 and 48 h)altered the expression of genes contributing to cell adhesion and the extracellular ***6 further down-regulated the expression of genes associated with mitochondria,inflammatory responses,mRNA processing and chromatin ***6-increased genes were located near GC-rich motifs interacting with C2H2 zinc finger transcription factors,whereas GM6-decreased genes were located near AT-rich motifs associated with helix-turn-helix homeodomain *** motifs interacted with a diverse network of transcription factors encoded by GM6-regulated genes(sTAT3,HOXD11,HEs7,GLI1).We identified 77 ALs-associated genes with expression significantly altered by GM6 treatment(FDRsis,axon guidance and the intrinsic apoptosis ***:Our findings support the hypothesis that GM6 acts through developmental-stage pathways to influence neuron *** expression responses were consistent with neurotrophic effects,ECM modulation,and activation of the Notch and hedgehog neurodevelopmental *** multif

The introduction of biologics such as anti-tumor necrosis factor(TNF)monoclonal antibodies followed by anti-integrins has dramatically changed the therapeutic paradigm of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD).Furthermore,a newly developed anti-p40 subunit of interleukin(IL)-12 and IL-23(ustekinumab)has been recently approved in the United states for patients with moderate to severe Crohn’s disease who have failed treatment with ***,these immunosuppressive therapeutics which focus on anti-inflammatory mechanisms or immune cells still fail to achieve long-term remission in a significant percentage of *** strongly underlines the need to identify novel treatment targets beyond immune suppression to treat *** studies have revealed the critical role of intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)in the pathogenesis of ***,biochemical and immunologic driven barrier dysfunctions of epithelial cells contribute to the development of *** addition,the recent establishment of adult stem cell-derived intestinal enteroid/organoid culture technology has allowed an exciting opportunity to study human IECs comprising all normal epithelial *** long-term epithelial culture model can be generated from endoscopic biopsies or surgical resections and recapitulates the tissue of origin,representing a promising platform for novel drug discovery in *** review describes the advantages of intestinal enteroids/organoids as a research tool for intestinal diseases,introduces studies with these models in IBD,and gives a description of the current status of therapeutic approaches in ***,we provide an overview of the current endeavors to identify a novel drug target for IBD therapy based on studies with human enteroids/organoids and describe the challenges in using enteroids/organoids as an IBD model.

Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAs), a common clinical finding, is increasing in prevalence as the population ages. ARAs is seen in ～ 7% of persons over 65 years of age1 and in ～ 20% of patients at the time of coronary angiography.2 It is an important cause of chronic kidney disease and may result in 11-14% of cases of end stage renal disease.

Pressure and proximity measurements made in a tunnel indicate that a typical vehicle passage produced on the tunnel roof an initial pressure increase of small magnitude,followed by a sharp and more substantial drop in pressure below *** magnitude of the pressure drop was found to increase with smaller clearances between the vehicle top and the tunnel roof,consistent with the Bernoulli relation and the vehicle *** dynamic pressures potentially may have significant effects on the vibration and noise environments on the lower floors of“air rights construction”buildings that span highways.

Grinding is one of the most widely used material removal methods at the end of many process *** force is related to almost all grinding parameters,which has a great influence on material removal rate,dimensional and shape accuracy,surface and subsurface integrity,thermodynamics,dynamics,wheel durability,and machining system *** that grinding force is related to almost all grinding parameters,grinding force can be used to detect grinding wheel wear,energy calculation,chatter suppression,force control and grinding process *** prediction of grinding forces is important for optimizing grinding parameters and the structure of grinding machines and *** there are substantial research papers on grinding mechanics,a comprehensive review on the modeling of grinding mechanics is still absent from the *** fill this gap,this work reviews and introduces theoretical methods and applications of mechanics in grinding from the aspects of modeling principles,limitations and possible future trendencies.

AIM:To study the role of hepcidin in hereditary hyperferritinemia cataract syndrome(HHCs). METHODs:six patients from two families with HHCs, confirmed by genetic analysis showing A to G mutation at position+40 in the L-ferritin gene,were recruited to undergo serum hepcidin and prohepcidin measurements using radioimmunoassay and enzyme linked immunoassay,respectively,and measurements were compared with levels in serum from 25 healthy volunteers(14 females),mean age 36±11.9 ***:The serum hepcidin and prohepcidin levels in patients with HHCs were 19.1±18.6 and 187± 120.9 ng/mL,*** ferritin was 1716.3± 376μg/*** biopsy in one patient did not show any evidence of iron *** hepcidin and prohepcidin values in healthy controls(HCs)were 15.30±15.71 and 236.88±83.68 ng/mL,respectively,while serum ferritin was 110±128.08μg/*** was no statistical difference in serum hepcidin level between the two cohorts(19.1±18.6 ng/mL vs 15.30±15.71 ng/mL,P= 0.612)using two-tailed t-test. CONCLUsION:serum hepcidin levels in HHCs patients is similar to that in *** study suggests that circulating ferritin is not a factor influencing hepcidin synthesis and does not have a role in the iron-sensing mechanism in hepatocytes.

Rangelands worldwide have been subject to broadscale modiﬁcation,such as widespread predator control,intro-duction of permanent livestock water and altered vegetation to improve *** Australia,these landscape changes have resulted in kangaroos(*** macropods)populations increasing over the past 200 ***-garoos are a key contributor to total grazing pressure and in conjunction with livestock and feral herbivores have been linked to land *** used 22 years of aerial survey data to investigate whether the density of 3 macropod species in the southern rangelands of Western Australia was associated with:(i)land use,including type of livestock,total livestock,density of feral goats,type of land tenure,and kangaroo commercial harvest effort;(ii)predator management,including permitted dingo control effort,estimated dingo abundance,and presence of the state Barrier Fence(a dingo exclusion fence);and(iii)environmental variables:ruggedness,rainfall,fractional cover,and total standing dry *** kangaroos(Osphranter rufus)were most abundant inﬂat,open vegetation,on pastoral land,where area permitted for dingo control was high,and numbers were positively associated with antecedent rainfall with a 12-month *** grey kangaroos(Macropus fuliginosus)were most abundant onﬂat,agricultural land,but less abundant in areas with high permitted dingo ***(Osphranter robustus)were most abundant in rugged pastoral land with open vegetation,where permitted dingo control was *** environmental variables are key drivers of landscape productivity and kangaroo populations,anthropogenic factors such as land use and permitted dingo control are strongly associated with kangaroo abundance.
