An in Vitro Approach to Investigate the Role of Abscisic Acid in Alleviating the Negative Effects of Chilling stress on Banana shoots

Banana is a tropical crop cultivated in warm *** stress in Egypt is making banana crops less *** acid(ABA),a key plant hormone,regulates metabolic and physiological processes and protects plants from a variety of *** vitro growing banana shoots were pre-treated with ABA at four concentrations(0,25,50,and 100 mM)and chilled at 5℃for 24 h,followed by a six-day recovery period at 25℃.By comparing ABA treatments to both positive and negative controls,physiological and biochemical changes were *** stress(5℃)caused a considerable increase in lipid peroxidation and ion leakage and reduced photosynthetic pigments in cold-treated *** the concentration of ABA to 100μM enhanced the response to chilling *** had a major effect on mitigating chilling injury in banana shoots by keeping cell membranes stable and lowering the amount of ion leakage and lipid ***,ABA significantly maintained the photosynthetic pigment concentration of banana shoots;accumulated higher amounts of total soluble carbohydrates and proline;and increased DPPH radical scavenging ***,ABA treatment enhanced cold tolerance in chilling-stressed banana shoots through the regulation of antioxidant enzyme ***,the results show that ABA is a good choice for protecting banana shoots from the damage caused by chilling stress.

Can miRNA712＿3p be a promising biomarker for early diagnosis of toxoplasmosis?

Objective: To assess the role of miRNA712_3p as a specific biomarker in early detection of toxoplasmosis in plasma of mice acutely infected with Toxoplasma gondii. Methods: Real-time PCR was used to measure the level of miRNA712_3p in plasma of infected mice. Immunecompetent and immune-suppressed mice were examined, three and five days post-infection. Results: Results revealed significant up-regulation of plasma miRNA712_3p in both immunecompetent and immune-compromised groups in comparison to the control non-infected group. Additionally, an increase in the level of miRNA712_3p was noticed correspondently in the parasite density detected in liver impression smears. Conclusions: miRNA712_3p can be used as a novel biomarker for the detection of Toxoplasma gondii infection in both immunecompetent and immune-compromised host.

Ulcerated Lesion in Buccal Mucosa in a Patient with Paracoccidioidomycosis——Case Report

Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most prevalent systemic mycosis in Latin America. It is a fungal infection caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. This microorganism can penetrate the human body through direct contact and can cause intense lymphadenopathy, ulcerated lesions in the oral cavity and in the skin among other alterations. In this study, we report a case of paracoccidioidomycosis with unusual clinical presentation, as it manifested in the female sex and although it did not present any relevant complaints of respiratory focus, it presented a single ulcerated lesion in the buccal mucosa. A biopsy of the lesion and a mycological examination revealed Paracoccidioidesbrasiliensis infection.
