Represents the first attempt to classify all of China’s295 cities in terms of industrial functions,using 1984 *** the framework of economic base theory of urban development,three elements are defined as specialized branch,functional intensity and functional *** method used here is based on a combination of the three elements.A number of techniques tried made it possible to base the classification on a composite measure,consisting of the Ward’s Error Method of hierarchical cluster analysis and a supplementary application of Nelson *** 295 cities have been grouped into three categories with 19 subcategories and 54 functional *** distribution of cities in most of the subcategories are displayed on 8 maps.

Construction crane vessels make use of dynamic positioning(DP)systems during the installation and removal of offshore structures to maintain the vessel’s *** have reported cases of instability of DP systems during offshore operation caused by uncertainties,such as mooring ***"robustification"for heavy lift operations,i.e.,handling such uncertainties systematically and with stability guarantees,is a long-standing challenge in DP design.A new DP method,composed by an observer and a controller,is proposed to address this challenge,with stability guarantees in the presence of *** test the proposed method on an integrated cranevessel simulation environment,where the integration of several subsystems(winch dynamics,crane forces,thruster dynamics,fuel injection system etc.)allow a realistic validation under a wide set of uncertainties.

Aims Deforestation and biodiversity loss are two alarming,closely related problems,and the main factors triggering changes in land *** agricultural practices in the western Amazon Basin are known as chakras,and their structure and dynamics are seemingly optimal for forest ***,the variability in tree spe-cies and the degree of forest recovery after abandonment is poorly documented in this agroforestry system(AFs).The goals of this study were:(i)to investigate whether the different AFss(chakras)preserve similar levels of forest diversity,(ii)to determine the effect of trans-formation of mature forests(MF)to chakras,in particular,forest alpha and beta diversity levels,and(iii)to investigate whether native tree species recovery leads to the original forest structure following chakra *** We assessed the floristic composition in three AFss(cassava,corn,and cocoa),the secondary forest(sF),and the forest remnants in the buffer zone of the Northern Ecuadorian Amazon(NEA).All tree spe-cies with a diameter at breast height(dbh)≥10 cm were inventoried in 61 plots(0.28 ha average)representing 17.44 *** diversity was calculated in all systems to determine the levels of variabil-ity using species richness and the shannon diversity ***,beta diversity was examined to evaluate the degree of dissimilarity among all AFss with the MF in order to analyze changes in floristic *** divergence between the sF and the MF was ana-lyzed to ascertain forest recovery after chakra *** Findings A total of 4,060 trees(dbh≥10 cm)representing 109 species,96 genera,and 43 plant families were inventoried in 17.44 ha sampled in five systems in the buffer zone of the *** most dominant plant families were Arecaceae,Myristicaceae,Fabaceae,Meliaceae,and Malvaceae,and the most representative genera included Iriartea,Virola,Guarea,Ocotea,Cordia,Chrysophyllum,and *** MF in this zone is composed of 81 tree species circums

We briefly introduce and describe seven questions related to community structure and biodiversity conservation that can be addressed using field experiments,and provide the context for using the vast geographic diversity,biodiversity,and network of Nature Reserves in China to perform these *** is the world's third largest country,has a diverse topography,covers five climatic zones from cold-temperate to tropical,has 18 vegetation biomes ranging from Arctic / alpine tundra and desert to Tropical rain forest,and supports the richest biodiversity in the temperate northern hemisphere( > 10%of the world total). But this tremendous natural resource is under relentless assault that threatens to destroy biodiversity and negatively impact the services ecosystems provide. In an attempt to prevent the loss of biodiversity,China has established 2,729 nature reserves which cover 14.84% of the nation' s area. Unfortunately underfunding,mismanagement,illegal activities,invasive species and global climate change threaten the effectiveness of these protected areas. Attention has focused on protecting species and their habitats before degradation and loss of either species or habitats occur. Here we argue that we must move beyond the simple protection of ecosystems,beyond their description,and by using experiments,try to understand how ecosystems work. This new understanding will allow us to design conservation programs,perform restoration of damaged or degraded areas,and address resource management concerns( e.g.,agriculture,logging,mining,hunting) more effectively than with the current approach of ad hoc reactions to ecological and environmental problems. We argue that improving our understanding of nature can best be done using well designed,replicated,and typically manipulative field experiments.

In this paper,a Backstepping Global Integral Terminal sliding Mode Controller(BGITsMC)with the view to enhancing the dynamic stability of a hybrid AC/DC microgrid has been *** proposed approach controls the switch-ing signals of the inverter,interlinking the DC-bus with the AC-bus in an AC/DC microgrid for a seamless interface and regulation of the output power of renewable energy sources(solar Photovoltaic unit,PMsG-based wind farm),and Battery Energy storage *** proposed control approach guarantees the dynamic stability of a hybrid AC/DC microgrid by regulating the associated states of the microgrid system to their intended *** dynamic stabil-ity of the microgrid system with the proposed control law has been proved using the Control Lyapunov Function.A simulation analysis was performed on a test hybrid AC/DC microgrid system to demonstrate the performance of the proposed control strategy in terms of maintaining power balance while the system’s operating point ***,the superiority of the proposed approach has been demonstrated by comparing its performance with the existing sliding Mode Control(sMC)approach for a hybrid AC/DC microgrid.

This paper propose a computerized method of magnetic resonance imaging （MR/） of brain binarization for the uses of preprocessing of features extraction and brain ab- normality identification. One of the main problems of MR/ binarization is that many pixels of brain part cannot be cor- rectly binarized due to extensive black background or large variation in contrast between background and foreground of MR/. We have proposed a binarization that uses mean, vari- ance, standard deviation and entropy to determine a thresh- old value followed by a non-gamut enhancement which can overcome the binarization problem of brain component. The proposed binarization technique is extensively tested with a variety of MR/and generates good binarization with im- proved accuracy and reduced error. A comparison is carried out among the obtained outcome with this innovative method with respect to other well-known methods.

In vivo,multiple biophysical cues provided by highly ordered connective tissues of the extracellular matrix regulate skeletal muscle cells to align in parallel with one ***,in routine in vitro cell culture environments,these key factors are often missing,which leads to changes in cell ***,we present a simple strategy for using optical media discs with nanogrooves and other polymer-based substrates nanomolded from the discs to directly culture muscle cells to study their response to the effect of biophysical cues such as nanotopography and substrate *** extend the range of study of biophysical cues for myoblasts by showing that they can sense ripple sizes as small as a 100 nm width and a 20 nm depth for myotube alignment,which has not been reported *** results revealed that nanotopography and substrate stiffness regulated myoblast proliferation and morphology independently,with nanotopographical cues showing a higher *** biophysical cues also worked synergistically,and their individual effects on cells were additive;i.e.,by comparing cells grown on different polymerbased substrates(with and without nanogrooves),the cell proliferation rate could be reduced by as much as~29%,and the elongation rate could be increased as much as~116%.Moreover,during myogenesis,muscle cells actively responded to nanotopography and consistently showed increases in fusion and maturation indices of~28%and~21%,***,under electrical stimulation,the contraction amplitude of well-aligned myotubes was found to be almost 3 times greater than that for the cells on a smooth surface,regardless of the substrate stiffness.
