As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify,large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind,hydro,and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries,particularly those employing organic molecules,are positioned as a key technology for this *** review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs)within this *** traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode,symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both *** review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design,and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous *** providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics,the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems,as are opportunities for future *** should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Birdsong is an important secondary sexual trait which may vary between but also within *** variation is generally studied either on the geographical or on the temporal scale;most of the studies exploring the variation of song over time,however,focused on species with rather simple *** this study,we explored the temporal changes in song of a complex songster,the Thrush Nightingale(Luscinia luscinia),recorded after 33 years(in 1986 and 2019)at the same locality in south-eastern *** analysis revealed a complete turnover of song types over the study period,with no song type shared between the two recording *** contrast,40%of the originally recorded syllable types were still found in the repertoires of recently recorded *** song type repertoires were significantly smaller but the songs themselves were on average longer compared to the 1986 *** of both syllables and song types were more shared between males recorded in 1986 than between those from *** discuss the processes that may have contributed to these temporal changes in song and call for more detailed studies of song evolution in wild populations.

High speed expansion flows of pure vapors or gas/vapor mixtures are important to many technical applications, e.g. to steam turbines, jet engines, and for safety control of pressurized power *** sudden cooling of the fluid flow leads to condensation and nonequilibrium two-phase now with instabilities and periodic shock formation at mean frequencies of about 1 kHz. Modelling and control of this dynamical problem is not only important with respect to erosion, it also may cause flutter excitation and serious demolition of technical facilities. In numerical simulations, the time dependent 2-D Elller equations collpled to four equations describing the process of homogeneous nucleation and droplet growth are solved by a MUsCL-type finite volume method. The results are compared with experiments carried out in an atmospheric supersonic wind tunnel. By application of this numerical method to internal flows (nozzles) we found different modes of instabilities including bifurcations. At the stability limit a sharp frequency minimum was found for symmetric oscillations in slender nozzles. It separates oscillation modes where the oncoming subsonic flow remains unchanged from the oscillatory state where a shock monotonically moves upstream into the oncoming flow. For different nozzles we detected a new unsymmetric oscillation mode with a complex system of upstream moving oblique shocks. Here the frequency curve shows the typical structure of a bifurcation problem, which is definitely not controlled by viscous effects but by instabilities of the interaction of flow and phase transition process.

This study represents a pioneering effort to analyze the impact of avalanches descending into Morskie Oko from Marchwiczny Gully,the most active avalanche path around the *** focuses on catastrophic avalanches that descended from the analyzed gully,as reported in the literature from the 1900s until ***,only the data collected in recent years,our field studies,combined with modern LIDAR data and GIs-based modeling,allowed us to perform a detailed *** GIs-based approach effectively uses spatial data to address snow avalanche modeling *** the study area lies within Tatra National Park,no official services carry out systematic avalanche monitoring or *** impact of hazardous events,such as snow avalanches,on the most famous Polish mountain lake,Morskie Oko,has been poorly described in the literature and has yet to be ***,to analyze the selected avalanche parameters,we mainly used our ground and additional aerial photographs taken by local mountain services and related field *** analysis resulted in figurative estimates of the extent and volume of avalanche snow and its weight,both on the surface of the ice sheet and the part of the avalanche that did not reach the lake's shore and remained on the slope of Marchwiczny *** example,the values for the mighty avalanche on February 3,2023,are 23,500 m~3 and 4,700 tons on the ice surface and 20,000 m~3 and 4,000 tons on the *** was determined that avalanches that descend onto the studied lake's surface result in its *** process occurs because of sedimentation of slope material carried by avalanches,especially during the final phase of ice cover *** openings appear in the solid ice cover in spring,floating ice can migrate,driven by wind pressure,and deposit avalanche material in various parts of the lake ***,avalanches contributed to the gradual disappearance of the lake.
