Prediction of vertical displacement for a buried pipeline subjected to normal fault using a hybrid FEM-ANN approach

Fault movement during earthquakes is a geotechnical phenomenon threatening buried pipelines and with the potential to cause severe damage to critical ***,effective prediction of pipe displacement is crucial for preventive management *** study aims to develop a fast,hybrid model for predicting vertical displacement of pipe networks when they experience *** this study,the complex behavior of soil and a buried pipeline system subjected to a normal fault is analyzed by using an artificial neural network(ANN)to generate predictions the behavior of the soil when different parameters of it are *** this purpose,a finite element model is developed for a pipeline subjected to normal fault *** data bank used for training the ANN includes all the critical soil parameters(cohesion,internal friction angle,Young’s modulus,and faulting).Furthermore,a mathematical formula is presented,based on biases and weights of the ANN *** results show that the maximum error of the presented formula is 2.03%,which makes the proposed technique efficiently predict the vertical displacement of buried pipelines and hence,helps to optimize the upcoming pipeline projects.

Movement Trend Alterations in the Periaqueductal Gray(PAG)-Employed Ratbot Navigation Are Correlated with stimulation Parameters

In previous studies,Periaqueductal Gray(PAG)stimulation was used to stop ratbots from *** to the homology between the PAG and the intercollicular nucleus,which has been used for forward movement in birds,we investigated the possibility of PAG application to induce forward locomotion for the first *** a corridor maze,the traveled distances via PAG electrical stimulation were examined in nine Wistar male rats during three sessions.A custom-designed stimulator was developed to apply the *** results showed reductions in responses to stimulation over ***,the traveled distances had negative slopes during the consecutive trials(in 8 out of the 9 rats),and the slope mean was significantly different from *** was a strong correlation between the stimulation parameters(electric Charge per Phase(CPP)and the Number of Pulses(NP))and the observed *** negative Movement slopes(Ms)were highly correlated with the CPP and the NP,as the Pearson's linear correlation coefficients were−0.87 and−0.79,*** Ms-CPP coefficients of determination(R-squared)were also between 0.76 and *** addition,the Ms-NP coefficients of determination were between 0.63 and ***,it is concluded that the electrical stimulation parameters influence the behavioral outcomes ***,the PAG area may be considered a suitable candidate for forward locomotion control in the future if the area is harnessed effectively to prevent undesirable chaotic behaviors.

Using satellite-derived land surface temperatures to clarify the spatiotemporal warming trends of the Alborz Mountains in northern Iran

The Alborz Mountains are some of the highest in Iran,and they play an important role in controlling the climate of the country’s northern *** land surface temperature(LsT)is an important variable that affects the ecosystem of this *** study investigated the spatiotemporal changes and trends of the nighttime LsT in the western region of the Central Alborz Mountains at elevations of 1500-4000 m above sea *** data were extracted for the period of 2000-2021,and the Mann-Kendall nonparametric test was applied to evaluating the changes in the *** results indicated a significant increasing trend for the monthly average LsT in May-August along the southern *** the northern and southern aspects showed decreasing trends for the monthly average LsT in October,November,and March and an increasing trend in other *** all elevations,the average decadal change in the monthly average LsT was more severe along the southern aspect(0.60°C)than along the northern aspect(0.37°C).The LsT difference between the northern and southern aspects decreased in the cold months but increased in the hot *** the same elevation,the difference in the lapse rate between the northern and southern aspects was greater in the hot months than in the cold *** increasing elevation,the lapse rate between the northern and southern aspects *** change was concluded to greatly decrease the difference in LsT at different elevations for April-July.

Effect of CO_(2)exposure on the mechanical strength of geopolymerstabilized sandy soils

In recent years,there has been growing interest in developing methods for mitigating greenhouse effect,as greenhouse gas emissions continue to contribute to global temperature *** the other hand,investigating geopolymers as environmentally friendly binders to mitigate the greenhouse effect using soil stabilization has been widely ***,the effect of CO_(2)exposure on the mechanical properties of geopolymer-stabilized soils is rarely *** this context,the effect of CO_(2)exposure on the mechanical and microstructural features of sandy soil stabilized with volcanic ash-based geopolymer was *** factors were concerned,for example the binder content,relative density,CO_(2)pressure,curing condition,curing time,and carbonate *** results showed that the compressive strength of the stabilized sandy soil specimens with 20%volcanic ash increased from 3 MPa to 11 *** was also observed that 100 kPa CO_(2)pressure was the optimal pressure for strength development among the other *** mechanical strength showed a direct relationship with binder content and carbonate ***,in the ambient curing(AC)condition,the mechanical strength and carbonate content increased with the curing ***,the required water for carbonation evaporated after 7 d of oven curing(OC)condition and as a result,the 14-d cured samples showed lower mechanical strength and carbonate content in comparison with 7-d cured ***,the rate of strength development was higher in OC cured samples than AC cured samples until 7 d due to higher geopolymerization and carbonation rate.

Modeling functional brain connections in methamphetamine and opioid abusers

substance abuse has become a significant problem *** primary purpose of this study was to model the functional brain connectivity in methamphetamines(Meth)and opioids(Op)groups in comparison with the healthy control(HC)*** data were recorded in Meth(n=8),Op(n=12),and HC groups(n=12)in a closed-eye resting *** NeuCube model based on a spiking neural network was used for EEG data's functional brain connectivity *** NeuCube model was evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively with model descriptive *** results showed the average value of the neuron's activation level,spikes emitted from neurons,and clustering coefficient as a communication parameter in the HC group decreased from 1154,1103,0.026 to 1036,981,0.020 in the Op group and to 511,468,0.009 in the Meth group,*** changes in indices were significant according to the ANOVA test with p〈*** decrease in indices was more significant in the Meth group than in the Op *** research findings showed that the abuse of Meth and Op causes damage to the brain's functional *** damage included shortening and limiting communication routes and decreased neurons'ability to generate membrane potential and emit inhibitory and excitatory *** were reported to be more severe in the Meth group than in the Op group.

Chronic effects of stretching on range of motion with consideration of potential moderating variables:A systematic review with meta-analysis

Background:It is well known that stretch training can induce prolonged increases in joint range of motion(ROM).However,to date more information is needed regarding which training variables might have greater influence on improvements in ***,the purpose of this metaanalysis was to investigate the effects of stretch training on ROM in healthy participants by considering potential moderating variables,such as stretching technique,intensity,duration,frequency,and muscles stretched,as well as sex-specific,age-specific,and/or trained state-specific adaptations to stretch ***:We searched through PubMed,scopus,Web of science,and sportDiscus to find eligible studies and,finally,assessed the results from 77 studies and 186 effect sizes by applying a random-effect ***,by applying a mixed-effect model,we performed the respective subgroup *** find potential relationships between stretch duration or age and effect sizes,we performed a ***:We found a significant overall effect,indicating that stretch training can increase ROM with a moderate effect compared to the controls(effect size=-1.002;Z=-12.074;95%confidence interval:-1.165 to-0.840;psubgroup analysis showed a significant difference between the stretching techniques(p=0.01)indicating that proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and static stretching produced greater ROM than did ballistic/dynamic ***,there was a significant effect between the sexes(p=0.04),indicating that females showed higher gains in ROM compared to ***,further moderating analysis showed no significant relation or ***:When the goal is to maximize ROM in the long term,proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or static stretching,rather than ballistic/dynamic stretching,should be *** to consider in future research as well as sports practice is that neither volume,intensity,nor frequency of stretching were
