We study the lepton flavor violatingμ−→e-2γdecay induced by the mediation of heavy leptons,s.c. as the excited and fourth generation *** of these leptons inμ−→e-2γdecay are *** is found that the branching ratio of this decay is very sensitive to excited and fourth generation ***,we obtain the bounds on model parameters by using the current experimental limit of this decay.

community-based natural resource management in northeast India has a long history. Indigenous knowledge and adaptation are the collective information, with improvement from generation to generation. The expectation is that under community control, local expertise on biodiversity will play a significant role in natural resource management through traditional practices. This paper discusses the characteristics and application of the traditional ecological knowledge of aboriginal peoples in northeast India and its role in natural resource management. Examples are provided in two different eco-cultural landscapes, i.e., Demazong (the Buddhist eco-cultural landscape in sikkim Himalaya) and the Apatani eco-cultural landscape in Arunachal Pradesh, which illustrate the utility value of traditional ecological knowledge in sustainable natural resource management. Both eco-cultural landscapes are indeed very complex and highly evolved systems with high levels of economic and ecological efficiencies. The paper concludes that traditional ecological knowledge systems and institutions.c.uld serve as entry points into the sustainable utilization and management of natural resources. This.c.uld be achieved through the exploration of the cultural practices of the local people and integrating useful aspects into the modern natural resource management expertise. With rapidly depleting biodiversity in the developing tropic regions, there is a greater utilization today than ever before of the value of respecting the "s.c.ed" as a tool towards better conservation of natural resources.

Development of Palmprint Verification system Using Biometrics

Palmprint verification system using Biometrics is one of the emerging technologies, which recognizes a person based on the principle lines, wrinkles and ridges on the surface of the palm. These line structures are stable and remain unchanged throughout the life of an individual. More importantly, no two palmprints from different individuals are the same, and normally people do not feel uneasy to have their palmprint images taken for testing. Therefore palmprint recognition offers a promising future for medium-s.c.rity access.c.ntrol systems. In this paper, a new approach for personal authentication using hand images is discussed. Gray-scale palm images are captured using a digital camera at a resolution of 640×480. Each of these gray-scale images is aligned and then used to extract palmprint and hand geometry features. These features are then used for authenticating users. The image acquisition setup used here is inherently simple and it does not employ any special illumination nor does it use any pegs that might cause any inconvenience to users. Experimental results show that the designed system achieves an acceptable level of performance.

The goal of this survey is to summarize the state-of-the-art research results and identify research challenges of developing and deploying dependable pervasive computing systems. We discuss the factors that affect the system dependability and the studies.c.nducted to improve it with respect to these factors. These studies were categorized according to their similarities and differences in hope of shedding some insight into future research. There are three categories: context management, fault detection, and uncertainty *** three categories of work address the three most difficult problems of pervasive computing systems. First,pervasive computing systems’ perceived environments, which are also called their contexts, can vary intensively,and thus have a great impact on the systems’ dependability. s.c.nd, it is.c.allenging to guarantee the correctness of the systems’ internal computations integrated with interactions with external environments for *** detection is then an important issue for improving dependability for these systems. Last but not least importantly, pervasive computing systems interact with their environments frequently. These interactions.c.n be affected by many uncertainties, which can jeopardize the systems’ dependability. After a discussion of these pieces of work, we present an outlook for its future research directions.

Petrology and geochemical characteristics of Precambrian granitic basement complex rocks in the southernmost part of North-central Nigeria

The Precambrian basement complex in the southernmost part of North-central Nigeria is underlain by migmatitic banded gneisses, granitic intrusions and dykes of dolerite, rhyolite porphyry and pegmatite. The rocks are generally fels.c. containing modal and normative hypersthene, as well as normative corundum. The basement complex has experienced high-grade regional metamorphism as indicated by the presence of hypersthene and plagioclase of andesine composition. Anatectic melting is suggested by the occurrence of ptygmatic folds, folded gneissose foliation, numerous quartzo-feldspathic veins and lenses of dark-colured, micaceous schistose rocks. Geochemically, the rocks have magnesian, calc-alkalic and strongly peraluminous.c.aracteristics. Their overall characteristics suggest derivation from progressive (fractional) partial melting of pelitic rocks during high-grade regional metamorphism, possibly ass.c.ated with intense hydrothermal activities. The magnesian characteristics reflect close affinity to relatively hydrous, oxidizing melts and source regions in settings broadly related to subduction.

Open charm mesons and charmonia in magnetized strange hadronic matter

We investigate the in-medium masses of open charm mesons(D(D^(0),D^(+)),■(■^(0),D^(-)),D_(s)(D_(s)^(+),D_(s)^(-)))and charmonium states(J/ψ,ψ(3686),ψ(3770),χ_(c0),χ_(c2)) in strongly magnetized isospin asymmetric strange hadronic matter using a chiral effective *** the presence of a magnetic field,the number and scalar densities of charged baryons have contributions from Landau energy *** mass modifications of open charm mesons result from their interactions with nucleons,hyperons,and the scalar fields(the non-strange field σ,strange field c and isovector field δ) in the presence of a magnetic *** mass modifications of the charmonium states result from the modification of gluon condensates in a medium simulated by the variation in the dilaton field(χ) in the chiral effective *** effects of finite quark masses are also incorporated in the trace of the energy-momentum tensor in quantum chromodynamics to investigate the mass shifts of charmonium *** in-medium masses of open charm mesons and charmonia are observed to decrease with an increase in baryon *** charged D^(+),D^(-),Z_(s)^(+),and D_(s)^(-)mesons have additional positive mass shifts due to Landau quantization in the presence of a magnetic *** effects of the strangeness fraction are observed to be more dominant for ■ mesons.c.mpared with D *** mass shifts of charmonia are observed to be larger in hyperonic media compared with nuclear media when the effect of the finite quark mass term is *** medium mass modifications.c.n have observable consequences on the production of the open charm mesons and charmonia in high-energy asymmetric heavy-ion collision experiments.

We investigate the quasi-exact solutions of the schrodinger wave equation for two-dimensional non-hermitian complex Hamiltonian systems within the frame work of an extended complex phase space characterized by x = x1 ＋ ip3, y = x2 ＋ ip4, px= p1＋ ix3, py= p2 ＋ ix4. Explicit expressions of the energy eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions for ground and first excited states for a complex quartic potential are obtained. Eigenvalue spectra of some variants of the complex quartic potential, including PT-symmetrie one, are also worked out.
