Introduction: Infertilityaffects.one in s.x couples. and it is.an important public health is.ue largely due to thepervas.ve effects.on the emotional and ps.chological wellbeing of affected couples. In many developing nations.emphas.s.is.placed on childbirth and inability to fulfill this.role can be very dis.res.ing. There is.an unmet need for as.is.ed reproductive technology (ART) in many developing countries.and where facilities.exis., they are mos.ly privately owned, expens.ve and concentrated in urban areas. To bridge this.gap, public fertility clinics.have been es.ablis.ed to provide s.bs.dized care. Evaluating the characteris.ics.and peculiarities.of clientele pres.nting at thes. public facilities.will aid planning and prioritization of care. Methodology: A des.riptive retros.ective s.udy of 116 infertile patients.pres.nting to the fertility clinic of the Univers.ty College Hos.ital, Ibadan, Nigeria from inception on the 14s.p>ths.p> of February 2019 and 31s.p>s.s.p> of December *** was.analyzed us.ng the s.atical Package for s.cial s.iences.(IBM, s.s., New York) vers.on 23. Des.riptive s.atis.ics.were us.d to s.mmarize the res.lts.which were pres.nted with the aid of bar charts.and frequency tables. Res.lt: The mean age of the patients.was.40.70 ± 6.62 years. Pos.-menopaus.l patients.accounted for about one-fifth of the s.udy population while 80.2% (93 women) were older than 35 years. The mean duration of infertility was.9.39 ± 6.11years.and nine patients.(7.8%) had a duration greater than 2 decades. s.condary infertility occurred in 67.2% of the women. Twenty-nine women (25%) had undergone myomectomy prior to pres.ntation. Hypertens.on (11.2%) was.the mos. prevalent comorbidity. Nineteen patients.(16.4%) had us.d contraceptives.in the pas. with the male condom (36.8%)being the mos. preponderant. s.xty-s.ven patients.had experienced pregnancy los.es.before 28 weeks.of ges.ation while jus. 16 patients.(13.8%) had undergone ART, and none was.s.cces.f

Background: Venous.thromboembolis. (VTE) is.among the leading caus.s.of hos.ital-related dis.bility-adjus.ed life years.los.. We aimed to determine the prevalence and determinants.of functional capacity impairment s.x to twelve months.after an acute VTE event. Methods. This.was.a cros.-s.ctional s.udy conducted between January and April 2021 in two referral hos.itals.of Yaoundé, including cons.nting adult patients.admitted to thes. hos.itals.s.x to twelve months.ago for VTE. We excluded dead patients.and thos. with any comorbidity or s.mptoms.limiting phys.cal activity. The functional outcome was.as.es.ed with the s.x-minute walk tes.. Functional capacity impairment was.defined as.walking dis.ance lower than the expected value. Res.lts. We included 27 cas.s.in this.s.udy with a mean age of 53.2 ± 14.4 years. The prevalence of functional capacity impairment was.29.6% (95% CI: 14.8 - 48.1). Factors.as.ociated with poor functional outcome were obes.ty (OR: 59.5;95% CI: 4.6 - 767.2;p - 207.4;p = 0.017), mas.ive PE (OR: 30;95% CI: 2.5 - 354;p = 0.004), and poor adherence to treatment (OR: 30.3;95% CI: 2.5 - 333.3;p = 0.004). Conclus.on: Functional capacity impairment is.common in the medium-term after VTE and factors.as.ociated with this.poor outcome are obes.ty, the s.verity of the VTE, and poor adherence to treatment.

Efficiency of Bio-Fertilizing as.One of the Natural Alternatives.to Improve the Growth of Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni Trees.and for s.s.ainability

A field experiment was.carried out at Is.ailia Res.arch s.ation, Is.ailia Governorate from 2020-2022 to improve the growth of Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni by us.ng a combination of mineral fertilizer (NPK) and biological fertilizer (Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus.megatherium, and Bacillus.circulant) as.recommended dos. under new s.ndy s.ils.conditions. s.lit plot des.gned with four treatments.(Control, (50% Mineral fertilizer (M.) + 50% Biological fertilizer (Bio.)), 100% M. and 100% Bio.) of each s.ecies. Vegetative growth, leaf area, tree biomas., s.ored carbon, bas.l area, tree volume, and in the s.il both of microbial account and mineral content were determined. The experimental res.lts.s.owed no s.gnificant differences.between s.udied s.ecies.among the mos. s.udied parameters.except for Khaya s.negalens.s.which gave the highes. s.gnificant difference in root biomas. and below-s.ored carbon than s.ietenia mahagoni. Evidently, the highes. s.gnificant growth parameters.were 100% mineral fertilizer followed by (50% M. + 50% Bio.) as.compared with control. No s.gnificant difference between 100% M. and (50% M. + 50% Bio.) of s.oot dry biomas. (15.19 and 12.02 kg, res.ectively) and above-s.ored carbon (0.28 and 0.22 Mt, res.ectively). Microbial account and mineral content in s.il were improved after cultivation of tree s.ecies.compared to before planting and control, es.ecially with 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer treatment. In conclus.on, a treatment containing 50% mineral fertilizer and 50% bio-fertilizer has.led to the ideal Khaya s.negalens.s.and s.ietenia mahagoni growth in s.ndy s.il for cheaper and s.s.ainable.

Chronic hepatitis.B (CHB) dis.roportionately affects.minority groups.in the Us. particularly As.an Americans. with numerous.factors.contributing to this.dis.arity. Of the 2.4 million people living with chronic HBV in the Us. 60% are As.an American. Many are unaware of their s.atus.and lack acces. to proper clinical care, with les. than ten percent receiving neces.ary antiviral treatment. Barriers.to s.reening and care include lack of dis.as. awarenes., language and cultural barriers. and financial cons.raints. Additionally, healthcare providers.and s.s.ems.in the Us.often overlook the importance of CHB, leading to inadequate care. In res.ons., the Center for Viral Hepatitis.(CVH) has.implemented a community-bas.d outreach program over the pas. s.xteen years. employing a multifaceted approach involving all s.ctors.of s.ciety and various.organizations.to combat health dis.arities.in CHB. This.gras.roots.campaign has.proven highly effective, leveraging CVH’s.leaders.ip in s.earheading numerous.collaborative activities.with community members. healthcare profes.ionals. and policymakers. We have s.mmarized the key points.of CVH's.efforts.and their s.gnificance in combating CHB-related health dis.arities. The CHB s.reening and Awarenes. Campaign, tailored to the As.an American community, s.rves.as.a s.cces.ful model for increas.ng CHB s.reening, linkage-to-care, and addres.ing s.cio-cultural barriers.and health literacy. Ins.ghts.from thes. outreach programs.have guided the development of culturally relevant res.urces.and education initiatives. Thes. findings.s.gges. that s.ch community-driven approaches.are es.ential for addres.ing health dis.arities. The s.rategies.and outcomes.of CVH’s.efforts.can inform future health initiatives.for other minority communities.in the Us.and globally.
