studies on lactobionic acid introduced as a synergist in the presence of phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid （PBTC） and zinc ions for corrosion control of carbon steel in aqueous environment are presented. The investigations revealed that lactobionic acid （LBA） acts as an excellent synergist in corrosion inhibition. Optimum concentrations of all the three components of the ternary formulation are established by gravimetric studies. Potentiodynamic polarization studies indicate that the new ternary system is a mixed inhibitor. Impedance studies show that a protective film is formed on the metal surface in the presence of the inhibitor formulation. The film is found to exhibit its protective nature even at higher temperatures up to 60 ~C. Analysis of the protective film by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPs） and reflection absorption Fourier transform infrared （FTIR） spectroscopy infers the presence of Zn（OH）2, oxides and hydroxides of iron and the inhibitor molecules in the surface film probably in the form of a complex, [Zn（II）-PBTC-LBA]. The morphological studies by scanning electron microscopy （sEm） and the topographical studies by atomic force microscopy （AFm） also indicate the presence of protective film on the metal surface. A plausible mechanism of corrosion inhibition is proposed.

The present investigation examines the viability of dolochar, a sponge iron industry waste material, as a reductant in the reduction roasting of iron ore slimes, which are another waste generated by iron ore beneficiation plants. Under statistically determined optimum conditions, which include a temperature of 900°C, a reductant-to-feed mass ratio of 0.35, and a reduction time of 30–45 min, the roasted mass, after being subjected to low-intensity magnetic separation, yielded an iron ore concentrate of approximately 64 wt% Fe at a mass recovery of approximately 71% from the feed iron ore slime assaying 56.2 wt% Fe. X-ray diffraction analyses indicated that the magnetic products contain magnetite and hematite as the major phases, whereas the nonmagnetic fractions contain quartz and hematite.

Effect of rock joint roughness on its cyclic shear behavior

Rock joints are often subjected to dynamic loads induced by earthquake and blasting during mining and rock cutting. Hence, cyclic shear load can be induced along the joints and it is important to evaluate the shear behavior of rock joint under this condition. In the present study, synthetic rock joints were prepared with plaster of Paris(Po P). Regular joints were simulated by keeping regular asperity with asperity angles of 15°-15° and 30°-30°, and irregular rock joints which are closer to natural joints were replicated by keeping the asperity angles of 15°-30° and 15°-45°. The sample size and amplitude of roughness were kept the same for both regular and irregular joints which were 298 mm×298 mm×125 mm and 5 mm, respectively. shear test was performed on these joints using a large-scale direct shear testing machine by keeping the frequency and amplitude of shear load under constant cyclic condition with different normal stress values. As expected, the shear strength of rock joints increased with the increases in the asperity angle and normal load during the first cycle of shearing or static load. With the increase of the number of shear cycles, the shear strength decreased for all the asperity angles but the rate of reduction was more in case of high asperity angles. Test results indicated that shear strength of irregular joints was higher than that of regular joints at different cycles of shearing at low normal stress. shearing and degradation of joint asperities on regular joints were the same between loading and unloading, but different for irregular joints. shear strength and joint degradation were more significant on the slope of asperity with higher angles on the irregular joint until two angles of asperities became equal during the cycle of shearing and it started behaving like regular joints for subsequent cycles.

Background:soil respiration(s_(R))is a critical process for understanding the impact of climatic conditions and land degradation on the carbon cycle in terrestrial *** measured the s_(R) and soil environmental factors over 1 year in four land uses with varying levels of disturbance and different vegetation types viz.,mixed forest cover(mFC),Prosopis juliflora(sw.)forest cover(PFC),agricultural field(AF),and vegetable field(VF),in a semi-arid area of Delhi,*** primary aim was to assess the effects of soil moisture(s_(m)),soil temperature(s_(T)),and soil microbial activity(s_(mA))on the s_(R).methods:The s_(R) was measured monthly using an LI-6400 with an infrared gas analyser and a soil *** s_(m) was measured using the gravimetric *** s_(T)(10 cm)was measured with a probe attached to the *** s_(mA) was determined by fluorescein diacetate ***:The s_(R) showed seasonal variations,with the mean annual s_(R) ranging from 3.22 to 5.78μmol m^(−2) s^(−1) and higher s_(R) rates of~15-55%in the cultivated fields(AF,VF)than in the forest sites(mFC,PFC).The VF had significantly higher s_(R)(Pses(AF,PFC,mFC),which did not vary significantly from one another in s_(R)(Pmeasures ANOVA evaluated the significant differences(Ps_(R) for high precipitation months(July,August,september,February).The s_(m) as a single factor showed a strong significant relationship in all the land uses(R^(2)=0.67-0.91,Ps_(T) on the s_(R) was found to be weak and non-significant in the PFC,mFC,and AF(R^(2)=0.14-0.31;P>0.05).Contrasting results were observed in the VF,which showed high s_(R) during summer(may;11.21μmol m^(−2) s^(−1))and a significant exponential relationship with the s_(T)(R^(2)=0.52;Ps_(R) was positively related to the smA(R2=0.44-0.5;Ps based on the independent variables s_(m),s_(T),and s_(mA) explained 91-95

The design of a three-input logic circuit using carbon nanotube field effect transistors(CNTFETs)is *** logic must be an exact replacement for dual logic since it performs straightforwardly in digital devices,which is why this design is so popular,and it also reduces chip area,both of which are examples of circuit *** proposed module we have investigated is a triple-logic-based one,based on advanced technology CNTFETs and an emphasis on minimizing delay times at various values,as well as comparisons of the design working with various load *** the proposed design with the existing design,the delay times was reduced from 66.32 to 16.41 ps,i.e.,a 75.26%***,the power dissipation was not optimized,and increased by 1.44%compared to the existing *** number of transistors was also reduced,and the product of power and delay(P∗D)achieved a value of 0.0498053 *** improvement at 1 V was also achieved.A load capacitance(fF)was measured at different values,and the average delay measured for different values of capacitance had a maximum of 83.60 ps and a minimum of 22.54 ps,with a range of 61.06 *** power dissipations ranged from a minimum of 3.38μW to a maximum of 6.49μ*** on these results,the use of this CNTFET half-adder design in multiple Boolean circuits will be a useful addition to circuit design.

The chemical reaction effect on an unsteady magnetohydrodynamic （mHD） flow past a semi-infinite vertical porous plate with viscous dissipation is analyzed. The governing equations of motion, energy, and species are transformed into ordinary differential equations （ODEs） using the time dependent similarity parameter. The resultant ODEs are then solved numerically by a finite element method. The effects of various parameters on the velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles are presented graphically, and the values of the skin-friction, Nusselt number, and sherwood number for various values of physical parameters are presented through tables.

In recent years,the development in the field of computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)has increased *** traditional machine learning algorithms have been proposed for identifying the pathological brain using magnetic resonance *** existing algorithms have drawbacks with respect to their accuracy,efficiency,and limited learning *** address these issues,we propose a pathological brain tumour detection method that utilizes the Weiner filter to improve the image contrast,2D-discrete wavelet transformation(2D-DWT)to extract the features,probabilistic principal component analysis(PPCA)and linear discriminant analysis(LDA)to normalize and reduce the features,and a feed-forward neural network(FNN)and modified particle swarm optimization(mPsO)with ant colony optimization(ACO)to improve the accuracy,stability,and overcome fitting issues in the classification of brain magnetic resonance *** proposed method achieves better results than other existing algorithms.
