Magnesium phosphate cements have come under investigation in recent years for use as an alternative to calcium phosphate cements for bone void repair *** indicates that magnesium phosphate cements obtain higher initial strengths after cement reaction and resorption in more clinically appropriate time frames than commercially available calcium phosphate *** this study,amorphous,partially amorphous and crystalline tri-magnesium phosphate powders were synthesized via an aqueous precipitation reaction with subsequent thermal treatment,and characterized using techniques such as X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared *** materials were assessed for their functionality in cementing reaction with a 3.0 mol/l,pH 7.0 ammonium phosphate solution,including setting time and pH evolution in phosphate buffered saline *** indicated that the amorphous and semi-crystalline tri-magnesium phosphate powders were highly reactive with the setting solution but resulted in mechanically weak cements,while the crystalline tri-magnesium phosphate powder reacted efficiently with the cement solution and were mechanically strong following the cement reaction.X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analyses indicated significant changes in the phase composition and morphology of the cements following incubation in phosphate buffered *** were perceived to be detrimental to the integrity of the amorphous and semi-crystalline tri-magnesium phosphate derived cements but not to those created with fully crystalline tri-magnesium *** crystalline tri-magnesium phosphate material resulted in the most functional cement as this embodiment displayed the most clinically relevant setting time as well as the highest mechanical resilience and neutral pH during incubation in saline solution rendering them potentially viable as bone void fillers.

Objective:Pediatric burns pose difficult healthcare issues in underdeveloped *** to the scarcity of pediatric burn care facilities and qualified burn‑care staff,patients are frequently referred from a rural *** study explores the burn‑treatment approach that could be used in rural hospitals in the absence of a dedicated pediatric burn care *** and Methods:A retrospective analysis of clinical data of 199 children who received treatment for burn‑injury in an isolated general surgical *** debridement under anesthesia at the earliest was the cornerstone of the treatment plan for this *** the wounds healed,the treatment was repeated every alternate *** patient’s demographic data,number of surgical dressings,length of hospital stay,and outcome were ***:The mean age of the patients was 51.68±23.79 *** male‑female ratio was 1.45:*** survival rate was 99.00%.The disability rate was 4.52%.Univariate logistic regression identified the age group,total body surface area affected,depth of the wound,and time of intervention as statistically significant variables(Plogistic regression identified the time intervals between surgical intervention and injury as an important predictor of *** addition,delayed presentation and delayed intervention led to a longer hospital stay,and more interventions than the early intervention ***:Early debridement accelerates recovery and lessens the need for future skin grafts or contracture *** approach can be used in rural hospitals as well because pediatric burns can be manageable in an isolated general ward.

Transformations of the Pleiomorphic Plant MTOC during Sporogenesis in the Hepatic Marchantia polymorpha

Sporogenesis in the hepatic Marchantia polymorpha l. provides an outstanding example of the pleiomorphic nature of the plant microtubule organizing center （MTOC）. Microtubules are nucleated from γ-tubuUn in MTOCs that change form during mitosis and meiosis. Following entry of cells into the reproductive pathway of sporogenesis, successive rounds of mitosis give rise to packets of 4-16 sporocytes. Mitotic spindles are organized at discrete polar organizers （POs）, a type of MTOC that is unique to this group of early divergent land plants. An abrupt and radical transformation in microtubule organization occurs when sporocytes enter meiosis： POs are lost and γ-tubulin is closely associated with surfaces of two large elongated plastids that subsequently divide into four. Migration of the four plastid MTOCs into a tetrahedral arrangement establishes the future spore domains and the division polarity of meiosis. As is typical of many bryophytes, cones of microtubules from the four plastid MTOCs initiate a quadripolar microtubule system （QMS） in meiotic prophase. At this point a transformation in the organization of the MTOCs occurs. The γ-tubulin detaches from plastids and forms a diffuse spheroidal pole in each of the spore domains. The plastids, which are no longer MTOCs, continue to divide. The diffuse MTOCs continue to nucleate cones of microtubules during transformation of the QMS to a bipolar spindle. Following meiosis I, γ-tubulin is associated with nuclear envelopes, and the spindles of meiosis II are organized from diffuse MTOCs at the tetrad poles. At simultaneous cytokinesis, radial microtubule systems are organized at nuclear envelope MTOCs in each of the tetrad members.

Epigenetic alterations are associated with all aspects of cancer, from tumor initiation to cancer progression and metastasis. It is now well understood that both losses and gains of DNA methylation as well as altered chro- matin organization contribute significantly to cancer- associated phenotypes. More recently, new sequencing technologies have allowed the identification of driver mutations in epigenetic regulators, providing a mecha- nistic link between the cancer epigenome and genetic alterations. Oncogenic activating mutations are now known to occur in a number of epigenetic modifiers （i.e. IDHll2, EZH2, DNMT3A）, pinpointing epigenetic path- ways that are involved in tumorigenesis. Similarly, investigations into the role of inactivating mutations in chromatin modifiers （i.e. KDM6A, CREBBPIEP300, SMARCB1） implicate many of these genes as tumor suppressors. Intriguingly, a number of neoplasms are defined by a plethora of mutations in epigenetic regu- lators, including renal, bladder, and adenoid cystic car- cinomas. Particularly striking is the discovery of frequent histone H3.3 mutations in pediatric glioma, a particularly aggressive neoplasm that has long remained poorly understood. Cancer epigenetics is a relatively new, promising frontier with much potential for improving cancer outcomes. Already, therapies such as 5-azacytidine and decitabine have proven that targeting epigenetic alterations in cancer can lead to tangible benefits. Understanding how genetic alterations give rise to the cancer epigenome will offer new possibilities for developing better prognostic and therapeutic strategies.
