In a sustainable development context, the monitoring systems are essential to study the building energy performances. With the recent technology advances, these systems can be based on wireless sensor networks, where the energy efficiency is the main design challenge. To this end, most of the studies focus on low power Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols to reduce the overall energy consumption of a network. Nevertheless, the performances assessment of these protocols is generally not performed in a realistic way, and does not take into account the performances of the other layers of the OSI model. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer methodology to assess the real performances of a MAC protocol by taking into account the traffic volume, the synchronization losses and more particularly the physical layer performances through a Bit error Rate (BeR) criterion. The simulation results demonstrate clearly the physical layer impact on a sensor lifetime. Finally, the proposal of an energy efficient MAC protocol for a wireless sensor network dedicated to an application of building monitoring is proposed.

Background:Obesity is associated with increased oncological risk and outcomes but the evidence surrounding the effect of body mass index(BMI)on increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)recurrence after liver transplantation(LT)is still *** purpose of this retrospective study of a large cohort of adult patients transplanted for HCC was to investigate the effect of BMI on the incidence of HCC recurrence and ***:Data from 427 adult recipients transplanted for HCC between 2000 and 2017 were *** were classified at time of LT according to the World Health Organization BMI classification into 3 groups;group 1:BMIesults:There were no significant changes of mean BMI overtime 26.8±5.0 kg/m2 at time of LT and 28.8±23.1 at 5 *** recurrence rates of HCC after LT in the three groups were 19%,16%and 17%*** 5,10 and 15-year recurrence free survival(RFS)rates were respectively 68.6%,47.3%and 40.8%in group 1,73.3%,66.2%and 49.5%in group 2 and 68.8%,57.5%and 47.7%in group 3(log rank P=0.47).Conclusions:Recipient BMI at time of transplant and during follow-up didn’t impact the incidence of HCC recurrence nor long-term patient survival,irrespective to the status of the patients and their tumor characteristic at time of *** present study clearly confirms that obesity should not be considered,when selecting patients with HCC to LT,as a predictive factor of recurrence.

The paper deals with strategies for optimizing the transmission of JPeG2000 coded images over a MIMO quasi-static Rayleigh fading channel, by exploiting different available MIMO STBC (Space Time Block Codes), as well as the image content to be transmitted. The aim is to propose a link adaptation scheme based on the variable radio channel’s conditions, by establishing an UeP (Unequal error Protection) scheme that leads to the best tradeoff between the robustness to errors and the image visual quality. Comparisons are made with the eeP (equal error Protection) case, in terms of the PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) fidelity metric, as well as the subjective image quality.

BACKGROUND Careful selection of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients prior to chemoembolization treatment is a daily reality,and is even more necessary with new available therapeutic options in *** propose two new models to better stratify patients and maximize clinical benefit:“6 and 12”and“pre/post-TACe-predict”(TACe,transarterial chemoembolization).MeTHODS We evaluated and compared their performance in predicting overall survival with other systems{Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC),Albumin-Bilirubin(ALBI)and NIACe[Number of tumor(s),Infiltrative HCC,alpha-fetoprotein,Child-Pugh(CP),and performance status]}in two HCC French cohorts of different stages enrolled between 2010 and *** The cohorts included 324 patients classified as BCLC stages A/B(cohort 1)and 137 patients classified as BCLC stages B/C(cohort 2).The majority of the patients had cirrhosis with preserved liver function.“Pre-TACe-predict”and“6 and 12”models identified three distinct categories of patients exhibiting different prognosis in cohort ***,their prognostic value was no better than the BCLC system or NIACe *** function based on CP and ALBI grades significantly impacted patient ***,the“post-TACe-predict”model had a higher predictive value than other *** stratification ability as well as predictive performance of these new models in an intermediate/advanced stage population was less efficient(cohort 2).CONCLUSION The newly proposed“Pre-TACe-predict”and“6 and 12”models offer an interesting stratification into three categories in a recommended TACe population,as they identify poor candidates,those with partial control and durable *** models'contribution was reduced in a population with advanced stage HCCs.

评估地震危害仍然是地球科学中最具挑战性的科学问题之一。经典理论认为深部构造运动是驱动地震活动断层上的应力持续加载的唯一机制。这里我们通过一个力学模型显示,在一个地震周期的时间范围内,剥蚀也会显著影响逆冲断层的应力加载。事实上,例如台湾和其他活动逆冲造山带约0.1~20mm/a的剥蚀率就可以将震中附近的逆冲断层的库仑应力提高约0.1~10bar。在连续的或短暂和强烈的地震过程中,地表所发生的物质转移是地表附近断层的震间应力加载的主要机制。这种应力可能足以引发浅层地震活动或促进大陆深部地震的破裂一直延续到地表。
