Nonlocal Theory of the Photon Gas Evolution Beginning from the Planck Time

Evolution of the photon gas (PG) in the Planck period is considered as a particular case of the physical vacuum (Pv) hydrodynamics. Nonlocal quantum hydrodynamic equations are applied for calculation of the photon gas evolution. In general case, PG hydrodynamics contains gravitation in the explicit form. Exact analytical solutions of PG hydrodynamics are obtained. Solutions show the exponential growth of gradient values for internal energy in time and space. In comparison with phenomenological General Relativistic Theory, Nonlocal quantum hydrodynamics (NQH) does not lead to contradictions in all limit cases. Theory of physical vacuum and the theory of photonic gas are related theories. These theoretical (analytical!) results confirm the result of direct observations (Arno Alan Penzias and robert Woodrow Wilson, Nobel Prize (1978) for their discovery of cosmic microwave background;John C. Mather and George F. Smoot. Nobel Prize (2006) for their discovery of the blackbody form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation).

Treatment of health problems that accompany aging often includes pharmacotherapy. It is thus common for older adults—and, increasingly, younger adults—to be on multiple medications, either prescription or over-the-counter (OTC). With the consumption of multiple medications, drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are a concern. The site of drug-drug interactions is often at the level of drug metabolism. If a drug inhibits (or enhances) the metabolism of another, the blood level (therapeutic effect) can be decreased below the required level, or adverse effects can increase. Because most currently used drugs are metabolized via cytochrome P450-catalyzed pathways, drug discovers seek drugs that are metabolized by alternate pathways. Medicinal chemists have come upon a strategy—the incorporation of oxetane rings in the drug structure—that increases the likelihood that a drug will not be metabolized via CYP450. The same modification gives other desirable physical properties to the molecule. Although there are no guarantees that there will be fewer DDIs or an absence of other unexpected problems, the strategy could pave the way for new drugs that are safer and easier to use with concomitant medications.

AIM: To identify risk factors to help predict which patients are likely to fail to appear for an endoscopic procedure. METHODS: This was a retrospective, chart review, cohort study in a Canadian, tertiary care, academic, hospital-based endoscopy clinic. Patients included were: those undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy and patients who failed to appear were compared to a control group. The main outcome measure was a multivariate analysis of factors associated with truancy from scheduled endoscopic procedures. Factors analyzed included gender, age, waiting time, type of procedure, referring physician, distance to hospital, first or subsequent endoscopic procedure or encounter with gastroenterologist, and urgency of the procedure. RESULTS: Two hundred and thirty-four patients did not show up for their scheduled appointment. Compared to a control group, factors statistically significantly associated with truancy in the multivariate analysis were: non-urgent vs urgent procedure (OR 1.62, 95% CI 1.06, 2.450), referred by a specialist vs a family doctor (OR 2.76, 95% CI 1.31, 5.52) and office-based consult prior to endoscopy vs consult and endoscopic procedure during the same appointment (OR 2.24, 95% CI 1.33, 3.78). CONCLUSION: Identifying patients who are not scheduled for same-day consult and endoscopy, those referred by a specialist, and those with non-urgent referrals may help reduce patient truancy.

The low-energy mutual neutralization(MN)reactions Na^(+)+H^(-)→Na(nl)+H have been studied by employing the full quantum-mechanical molecular-orbital close-coupling(QMOCC)method over a wide energy range of 10^(-3)-10^(3) e v/*** and state-selective cross sections have been investigated and compared with the available theoretical and experimental data,and the state-selective rate coefficients for the temperature range of 100-10000 K have been *** the present work,all the necessary highly excited states are included,and the influences of rotational couplings and 10 active electrons are *** is found that in the energy below 10 e v/u,the Na(4s)state is the most dominant exit state with a contribution of approximately 78%to the branch fraction,which is in best agreement with the experimental *** energies above 10 e v/u,the MN total cross section is larger than those obtained in other theoretical calculations and shows a slow decreasing trend because the main exit states change,when the energy is above 100 e v/u,the dominant exit state becomes the Na(3p)state,while the Na(4s)state becomes the third most important exit *** datasets presented in this paper,including the potential energy curve,the radial and rotational couplings,the total and state-selective cross sections,are openly available at https://***/10.57760/sciencedb.j00113.00112.

Applications of the Hilbert-Huang Transform for Microtremor Data Analysis Enhancement

In this paper we discuss the use of the Hilbert-Huang transform（HHT） to enhance the time-frequency analysis of microtremor measurements. HHT is a powerful algorithm that combines the process of empirical mode decomposition（EMD） and the Hilbert transform to compose the HilbertHuang spectrum that contains the time-frequency-energy information of the recorded signals. HHT is an adaptive algorithm and does not require the signals to be linear or stationary. HHT is advantageous for analyzing microtremor data, since observed microtremors are commonly contaminated by nonstationary transient noises close to the recording instruments. This is especially true when microtremors are measured in an urban environment. In our data processing HHT was used to（1） eliminate the unwanted short-duration transient constituents from microtremor data and use only the coherent portion of the data to carry out the widely used horizontal to vertical spectral ratio（H/v） method;（2） identify and eliminate the continuous industrial noise in certain frequency band; and（3） enhance the H/v analysis by using the Hilbert-Huang spectrum（HHS）. The efficacy of this proposed approach is demonstrated by the examples of applying it to microtremor data acquired in the metropolitan Beijing area.

The status of current knowledge on size-dependent aerosol removal by dry and wet processes, including dry deposition and impaction and nucleation scavenging, is reviewed. The largest discrepancies between theoretical estimations and measurement data on dry deposition and below-cloud scavenging are for submicron particles, Early dry deposition models, which developed based on chamber and wind tunnel measurements, tended to underestimate dry deposition velocity （vσ） for submicron particles by around one order of magnitude compared to recent field measurements. Recently developed models are able to predict reasonable vσ values for submicron particles but shift unrealistically the predicted minimum vσ to larger particle sizes. Theoretical studies of impaction scavenging of aerosol particles by falling liquid drops also substantially underestimate the scavenging coefficients for submicron particles. Empirical formulas based on field measurements can serve as an alternative to the theoretical scavenging models. Future development of size-resolved impaction scavenging models needs to include more precipitation properties （e,g., droplet surface area） and to be evaluated by detailed cloud microphysical models and available measurements. Several recently developed nucleation scavenging parameterizations for in-cloud removal of interstitial aerosol give comparable results when evaluated against parcel models; however, they need to be verified once suitable field measurements are available. More theoretical and field studies are also needed in order to better understand the role of organic aerosols in the nucleation scavenging process.
