Wet granulation is one of the most important agglomeration processes,and high-shear granulation(HSG)one of the most employed technologies in the pharmaceutical *** most critical process parameters of HSG are discussed in this *** main concern in scaling up the wet granulation process is the differences between scales,which prevent the particles from having the same experience across all *** scale-up of wet granulation processes is commonly divided into two categories:engineering and attribute-based *** engineering-based scale-up approach is a strategy based on dimensional analysis and an attribute-based supported on the principles of“equifinality”,where process variables are adjusted to obtain equivalent granule *** work presents the effect of different HSG process parameters on the scale-up,as well as the use of process analytical tools(PAT)and modelling *** aim is to review applied scale-up approaches in HSG and discuss benefits and *** is proven why the scale-up for oral solid pharmaceutical products is still considered a hot topic and a very challenging task for development and engineering teams.

BACKGRoUND Family caregivers of cirrhosis patients(CPs)often experience burden,stress,and *** whether these conditions improve following the patient undergoing liver transplantation(LT)is crucial,as it would elucidate the compre-hensive benefits of the procedure and demonstrate the positive impacts not only on the patients but also on their caregivers and *** To compare the levels of burden,stress and depression among family caregivers of cirrhotic and liver transplant *** This cross-sectional observational study evaluated caregivers of CPs and LT recipients at a quaternary Brazilian *** included identification cards,interview scripts,the caregiver burden scale Inventory,Lipp’s Stress Symptom Inventory,and the Beck Depression Inventory-Second *** analyses involved confirmatory factor analysis and calculation of McDonald’s omega and composite *** scores were compared with the Mann-Whitney U test,with effect size as the rank-biserial correlation coefficient(r).Statistical analysis was performed with R software(Pouses(76.6%vs 63.1%).The median age and caregiving duration were 55.4(23.3-76.3)vs 54.6(25.7-82.1)and 3.9(1-20)vs 8(1.5-24)years,respectively(P=0.001).LT caregivers were less likely to be at risk of overload(21.5%vs 49.4%),to be under stress(33.8%vs 36.4%)and to show symptoms of depression(15.4%vs 35.1%).Compared with LT caregivers,CP caregivers had greater median factor scores for burden(general tension,P=0.012;isolation,P=0.014;disappointment,P=0.004),depression(P=0.008),and stress(P=0.047),with small to moderate effect *** disappointment(r=0.240)and depression(r=0.225)dimensions had the largest effect *** Family caregivers of LT recipients are less likely to exhibit symptoms of burden,stress,and depression,su

Cystic fibrosis(CF)causes chronic infections in the respiratory tract and alters the digestive *** paper reviews the most important aspects of drug treatment and changes in the digestive tract of patients with *** is a review of the literature,emphasizing the discoveries made within the last 15 years by analyzing scientific papers published in journals indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library online,Sciences Information,United States National Library of Medicine and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System online databases,both in English and Portuguese,using the key words:cystic fibrosis,medication,therapeutic,absorption,***,observational,experimental,and epidemiological clinical studies were selected,among others,with statistical significance of 5%.This review evaluates the changes found in the digestive tract of CF patients including pancreatic insufficiency,constipation and liver *** in nutritional status are also *** treatment,nutritional supplementation and drug management were classified in this review as essential to the quality of life of CF patients,and became available through public policies for monitoring and treating *** information gathered on CF and a multi professional approach to the disease is essential in the treatment of these patients.

Zinc oxide(Zno) doped with erbium at different concentrations was synthesized by solid-state reaction method and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopic(SEM), UVabsorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence(PL) study and vibrating sample magnetometer. The XRD studies exhibit the presence of wurtzite crystal structure similar to the parent compound Zno in 1% Er^(3+)doped Zn o,suggesting that doped Er^(3+)ions sit at the regular Zn^(2+)sites. However, same studies spread over the samples with Er^(3+)content>1% reveals the occurrence of secondary phase. SEM images of 1% Er^(3+)doped Zno show the polycrystalline nature of the synthesized sample. UV-visible absorption spectrum of Er^(3+)doped Zno nanocrystals shows a strong absorption peak at 388 nm due to Zno band to band transition. The PL study exhibits emission in the visible region, due to excitonic as well as defect related transitions. The magnetizationfield curve of Er^(3+)doped Zno nanocrystals showed ferromagnetic property at room-temperature.

The research describes for the first time a possible case of pituitary gigantism in fossil mammals,precisely in *** pathology was detected in 2 long bones(tibia and metatarsus)belonging to an individual of an unusual large size found at the Bate cave(Rethymnon,Northern Crete).It formed the basis of Candiacervus major,the largest among the endemic deer species recorded in the Pleistocene-Early Holocene of *** and histomorphological examinations highlighted a reduction in cortical bone thickness and the presence of wide lacunae inside of the bone *** pathological conditions suggest a pituitary gigantism diagnosis also supported by some morphological evidence,such as the extremely elongated distal part of the metatarsal diaphysis,the proportionally small proximal epiphysis,and some bone *** diagnosis of a case of pituitary gigantism as presumed responsible for the extraordinary elongation of the tibia and the metatarsal bone is intriguing as they are,respectively,the paratype and the holotype of the *** species represents a case of a deviation from the“island rule”in Pleistocene large *** new evidence recommends a taxonomic and nomenclatural revision of this *** main outcomes of this research are as follows:(i)a case of pituitary gigantism is described for the first time in an extinct mammal;(ii)it is underlined that paleohistology may provide interesting clues for disentangling taxonomic and nomenclatural issues;(iii)one of the very few cases of gigantism in insular mammals is being questioned.

Increasing concerns have been raised on endocrine disrupting chemicals like the sex hormone 17 a-ethinylestradiol(EE2),the more since traditional wastewater(WW) treatments appear to be ineffective for their *** efficacy of the relatively novel disinfectant peracetic acid(PAA) in EE2 removal was evaluated,as well as its potential effects on WW quality *** treatments tested for EE2 removal were also evaluated in terms of toxicity,through the determination of biochemical responses(antioxidant enzymes,lipid peroxidation and vitellogenin induction) using zebrafish(Danio rerio) as a biological *** contact times less than 20 min appeared insufficient regardless of the PAA dose tested,but a 100% EE2 removal was attained at a PAA concentration of 15 mg/L with a contact time of20 *** suspended solids,chemical oxygen demand and pH in PAA treatments remained well within levels set in European legislation for WW ***2 induced signific ant increased vitellogenin(VTG) levels in both female and male fish,indic ating increased estrogenic activity,especially in males suggesting an endocrine disruption *** the addition of PAA(15 mg/L),however,VTG levels in both sexes returned to control *** this PAA treatment showed increased levels of the antioxidant enzyme catalase,the lipid peroxidation levels were similar or even lower than in *** the results suggest that the use of PAA appears a promising way forward as a less toxic alternative to chlorine disinfection with high efficiency in the removal of EDC like EE2.

Neural stem cells(NSCs)are known to be present in the adult mammalian brain where they constitutively differentiate into the neuronal,astroglial,and oligodendroglial lineages,in defined processes termed neurogenesis,ast rogl iogenesis and oligodendrogenesis,respectively(reviewed in Braun and Jessberger,2014).During brain development,NSCs are present throughout the brain,becoming progressively restricted to defined brain *** the adult brain,NSCs are mainly present in areas classically known as neurogenic niches,*** subventricular zone(SVZ),along the lateral walls of the lateral ventricles,and the subgranular zone,located in the dentate gyrus(DG)of the hippocampus.

BACKGRoUND In patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC),the treatment options are limited and have been proved to be affected by rat sarcoma virus(RAS)mutational *** RAS wild-type(wt)patients,the combination of antiepidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)monoclonal antibodies with chemotherapy(CT)is more effective than CT *** the other hand,RAS-mutated patients are not eligible for treatment with anti-EGFR *** SUMMARY Eleven patients with initially RAS-mutated mCRC were followed from diagnosis to May *** the time of cell-free DNA determination,five patients had undergone one CT line,five patients had undergone two CT lines,and one patient had undergone three CT lines(all in combination with bevacizumab).At the second and third treatment lines[second line(2L),third line(3L)],patients with neo-RAS wt received a combination of CT and *** neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR,our findings indicated an increase in progression-free survival for both 2L and 3L(14.5 mo,P=0.119 and 3.9 mo,P=0.882,respectively).Regarding 2L overall survival,we registered a slight increase in neo-RAS wt patients treated with anti-EGFR(33.6 mo vs 32.4 mo,P=0.385).At data cut-off,two patients were still alive:A RAS-mutated patient undergoing 3L treatment and a neo-RAS wt patient who received 2L treatment with anti-EGFR(ongoing).CoNCLUSIoN our case series demonstrated that monitoring RAS mutations in mCRC by liquid biopsy may provide an additional treatment line for neo-RAS wt patients.
