Purpose:To identify co-produced multi-stakeholder perspectives important for successful widespread physically active learning(PAL) adoption and ***:A total of 35 stakeholders(policymakers n=9;commercial education sector,n=8;teachers,n=3;researchers,n=15) attended a design thinking PAL *** formed 5 multi-disciplinary groups with at least 1 representative from each stakeholder *** group,facilitated by a researcher,undertook 2 tasks:(1) using Post-it Notes,the following question was answered:within the school day,what are the opportunities for learning combined with movement?and(2) structured as a washing-line task,the following question was answered:how can we establish PAL as the norm?All discussions were audio-recorded and *** analyses were conducted by 4 *** the analyses were complete,the main themes and subthemes were assigned to 4 predetermined categories:(1) PAL design and implementation,(2) priorities for practice,(3) priorities for policy,and(4) priorities for ***:The following were the main themes for PAL implementation:opportunities for PAL within the school day,delivery environments,learning approaches,and the intensity of *** main themes for the priorities for practice included teacher confidence and competence,resources to support delivery,and community of *** main themes for the policy for priorities included self-governance,the Office for Standards in Education,Children’s Services,and Skill,policy investment in initial teacher training,and curriculum *** main themes for the research priorities included establishing a strong evidence base,school-based PAL implementation,and a whole-systems ***:The present study is the first to identify PAL implementation factors using a combined multi-stakeholder *** achieve wider PAL adoption and implementation,future interventions should be evidence based and address implementation factors

Soil moisture content as a predictor of soil disturbance caused by wheeled forest harvesting machines on soils of the Western Carpathians

Limiting surface soil disturbance caused by forest harvesting machines is an important task and is influenced by the selection of efficient and reliable predictors of such disturbance. Our objective was to determine whether soil moisture content affects soil load bearing capacity and the formation of ruts. Measurements were conducted in six forest stands where various machines operated. We measured the formation of ruts along skid trails in connection with varying soil moisture content. Soil moisture content was determined through the gravimetric sampling method. Our results showed that severe（rut depth16–25 cm） to very severe disturbance（rut depth [26 cm）occurred in forest stands where the instantaneous soil moisture exceeded its plasticity limits defined through Atterberg limits. Atterberg limits of soil plasticity ranged from 26 to 32 % in individual stands. Regression and correlation analysis confirmed a moderately strong relationship（R = 0.52; p ／ 0.05） between soil moisture content and average rut depth. This confirmed that soil moisture is a suitable and effective predictor of soil disturbance.

How can stream bank erosion be predicted on small water courses?Veri?cation of BANCS model on the Kubrica watershed

The current paper deals with the evaluation of the BANCS erosion prediction model and its two componentsethe Bank Erosion Hazard Index（BEHI） and Near-Bank Stress（NBS） indices. To construct the erosion prediction curves, 18 experimental sections were established on the Kubrica Stream, district of Trencín, Slovakia. Each section was assessed through the NBS index and BEHI index and real annual bank erosion was measured using erosion toe pins. Subsequently, the relations between the BEHI and real annual bank erosion was assessed through regression and correlation analyses. The relation proved to be moderately strong, with the correlation coefficient（R） reaching 0.47. Further, the relation between the NBS index and real annual bank erosion was evaluated, which was also moderately strong, with R= *** on the measured data, two erosion prediction curves were constructed, the first for moderate BEHI, with R= 0.69 and coefficient of determination（R2） of 0.47 and the second for high BEHI with R=0.74 and R2= 0.55. The prediction curves were based on data from one year of measurements and can, therefore, be used only for discharges that occurred within that year and in the region where the model was developed. In the current case, according to runoff Curve Numbers（CN）, the real culmination discharge was Q ? 1.88 m3/s, which is roughly equivalent to 1.5-year recurrence interval flow（Q1.5）.

Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency and hepatic encephalopathy in chronic liver disease

To investigate the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD) deficiency and hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in patients with chronic liver disease (CLD). METHODSA retrospective analysis of the results of 392 adult patients with chronic liver disease who were assessed for liver transplantation between 2006 and 2010 was undertaken. HE, severity of CLD, nutritional status and 25-OHD were analysed in patients assessed for liver transplantation between 2006 and 2010. Patients who presented with acute, fulminant or subacute disease, with a primary diagnosis of liver cancer, were assessed for re-transplantation or who did not have a 25-OHD measurement were excluded from the analysis. RESULTSOne hundred and sixty-five patients were included in this analysis. The mean age of all patients was 53 ± 8 years. Moderate to severe 25-OHD deficiency was identified in 49 patients of whom 36 had grade 2-3 HE compared with 13 patients who were not encephalopathic (P ≤ 0.0001). Mild 25-OHD deficiency was not associated with HE. There was a significant correlation between the severity of 25-OHD deficiency and the severity of liver disease (r = 0.39, P ≤ 0.0001) and disease severity and the presence of HE (P ≤ 0.0001). Importantly, individuals with 25-OHD deficiency were more likely to have a diagnosis of overt HE (OHE) at a significantly lower model for end stage liver disease (MELD) score than individuals without OHE (P ≤ 0.0001). This significant difference was observed with MELD scores from 10 to 38. CONCLUSION25-OHD deficiency was observed in the majority of patients with CLD and for the first time was found to be significantly worse in patients with OHE.

Food and Nutrient Intake among People Following Major Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery

Introduction: Surgery to the upper gastrointestinal region of the gut results in symptoms greatly impacting on dietary intake, and a diet high in energy and protein is encouraged. The aim of this study was to examine the food and nutrient intakes of people having had major upper gastrointestinal surgery, and compare them to current food and nutrient recommendations. Materials and Methods: People having had major upper gastrointestinal rouxeny surgery greater than 6 months ago were recruited. Each person completed a three day food diary and food intakes were compared to the Healthy Food Guide for Australians. Macro and micro-nutrient intakes were compared to the Estimated Average Requirement reference values for Australia and New Zealand. Results: Thirty people were recruited and analysis of dietary intakes indicated inadequate serves of cereals, vegetables, fruit and dairy products compared to recommendations, resulting in below Estimated Average Requirements for many vitamins and minerals. Severely malnourished people, and those having had total gastrectomy surgery, were at greatest risk of not meeting macro and micro-nutrient recommendations. Conclusions: People having had major upper gastrointestinal surgery are encouraged to have a diet high in energy and protein. However this advice seems to be followed at the expense of other food groups, leading to low intakes of many micronutrients. Careful monitoring of dietary intakes and signs of nutrient deficiencies should be included as part of routine follow-up for this group of people. Further research is required to determine whether poor dietary intakes result in clinical deficiencies.

Diet is critical in diabetes management and new nutritional interventions are continuously being tested in randomized controlled trials. However, to make meaningful conclusions about the efficacy of dietary treatments, it is critical to be certain that the participants adhered to the dietary intervention and the dietary changes are valid. The objective of this meta-analysis was to assess the quality of dietary assessment and whether it might impact on study metabolic outcomes. Methods Four databases, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL and CENTRAL, were searched, from inception until September 2019 for randomized controlled trials of nutritional interventions in people with non-insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes. Trials that measured nutritional intakes in methods and HbA1 c as an outcome were included. Investigators assessed risk of bias and quality of the dietary measurements using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Assessment Tool 2.0 and a redeveloped EURICA tool, respectively. The study was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting in Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42019146471. Results Of 2552 records retrieved, 23 studies met the inclusion criteria. Nineteen studies aimed to achieve a reduction in HbA1c, and four studies aimed to maintain HbA1c while improving other metabolic/nutritional outcomes. Two studies were rated as ’good’, six as ’medium’, and 15 as ‘poor’ in the quality assessment of the dietary measurement tool. The majority of studies were rated as high risk of bias. Of those studies with medium or high diet quality assessment, six of eight achieved the desired outcome whereas only four of the 15 other studies achieved the desired clinical outcome for HbA1 c. Conclusion The poor quality of dietary assessment in clinical trials manipulating dietary intakes casts uncertainty on the legitimacy of causal mechanisms attributed to dietary interventions.
