BACKGROUNd Prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is increasing,especially in patients with metabolic dysfunctionassociated steatotic liver disease(MASLd).AIM To investigate rifaximin(RIF)effects on epigenetic/autophagy markers in *** Adult Sprague-dawley rats were randomly assigned(n=8,each)and treated from 5-16 wk:Control[standard diet,water plus gavage with vehicle(Veh)],HCC[high-fat choline deficient diet(HFCd),diethylnitrosamine(dEN)in drinking water and Veh gavage],and RIF[HFCd,dEN and RIF(50 mg/kg/d)gavage].Gene expression of epigenetic/autophagy markers and circulating miRNAs were *** All HCC and RIF animals developed metabolic-dysfunction associated steatohepatitis fibrosis,and cirrhosis,but three RIF-group did not develop *** animals who developed HCC with those who did not,miR-122,miR-34a,tubulin alpha-1c(Tuba-1c),metalloproteinases-2(Mmp2),and metalloproteinases-9(Mmp9)were significantly higher in the *** opposite occurred with Becn1,coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase-1(Carm1),enhancer of zeste homolog-2(Ezh2),autophagy-related factor LC3A/B(Map1 Lc3b),and p62/sequestosome-1(p62/SQSTM1)-*** with controls,Map1 Lc3b,Becn1 and Ezh2 were lower in HCC and RIF-groups(Pd to RIF(Pd for p62/Sqstm1(Pd to the control(P=0.024).There was no difference among groups for Tuba-1c,Aldolase-B,alpha-fetoprotein,and Mmp2(P>0.05).miR-122 was higher in HCC,and miR-34a in RIF compared to controls(Pd to RIF,and the inverse was observed for miR-224(Pdifference among groups regarding miR-33a,miR-143,miR-155,miR-375 and miR-21(P>0.05).CONCLUSION RIF might have a possible beneficial effect on preventing/delaying liver carcinogenesis throu

Sentence,Phrase,and Triple Annotations to Build a Knowledge Graph of Natural Language Processing Contributions—A Trial dataset

Purpose:This work aims to normalize the NLPCONTRIBUTIONS scheme(henceforward,NLPCONTRIBUTIONGRAPH)to structure,directly from article sentences,the contributions information in Natural Language Processing(NLP)scholarly articles via a two-stage annotation methodology:1)pilot stage-to define the scheme(described in prior work);and 2)adjudication stage-to normalize the graphing model(the focus of this paper).design/methodology/approach:We re-annotate,a second time,the contributions-pertinent information across 50 prior-annotated NLP scholarly articles in terms of a data pipeline comprising:contribution-centered sentences,phrases,and triple *** this end,specifically,care was taken in the adjudication annotation stage to reduce annotation noise while formulating the guidelines for our proposed novel NLP contributions structuring and graphing ***:The application of NLPCONTRIBUTIONGRAPH on the 50 articles resulted finally in a dataset of 900 contribution-focused sentences,4,702 contribution-information-centered phrases,and 2,980 surface-structured *** intra-annotation agreement between the first and second stages,in terms of F1-score,was 67.92%for sentences,41.82%for phrases,and 22.31%for triple statements indicating that with increased granularity of the information,the annotation decision variance is *** limitations:NLPCONTRIBUTIONGRAPH has limited scope for structuring scholarly contributions compared with STEM(Science,Technology,Engineering,and Medicine)scholarly knowledge at ***,the annotation scheme in this work is designed by only an intra-annotator consensus-a single annotator first annotated the data to propose the initial scheme,following which,the same annotator reannotated the data to normalize the annotations in an adjudication ***,the expected goal of this work is to achieve a standardized retrospective model of capturing NLP contributions from scholarly *** would entail a larger initiati

Background:Hemodialysis(Hd) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in Hd patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent d-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher d-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six Hd patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of d of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of Hd(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of d-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and Hd ***,RE+BFR significantly increases d-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline d-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating d-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for Hd patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.d-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.

Acoustic engineers are faced with the challenge of minimising reverberation time in their designs so as to contribute to the health and well-being of those traveling by train and those on the *** the problem is easy to identify,it is not as simple to *** acoustical environment of a train tunnel is complex,with a variety of noise contributing factors such as train announcements,speech of commuters,ventilation systems,electrical equipment and wheel and rail *** a result,there is some difficulty in modeling the complete acoustic environment with computational or acoustic first *** this study,an experimental rig was constructed to model the acoustic behavior within a *** modal properties for the 300 Hz to 1500 Hz range,including resonances and mode shapes were identified and were shown to successfully correspond to theoretical results and a computational model created in COMSOL using Finite Element Analysis.

Breccia-cored columnar rosettes in a rubbly pahoehoe lava flow,Elephanta Island,deccan Traps,and a model for their origin

Rubbly pahoehoe lava flows are abundant in many continental flood basalts including the deccan ***,structures with radial joint columns surrounding cores of flow-top breccia(FTB),reported from some deccan rubbly pahoehoe flows,are yet unknown from other basaltic provinces.A previous study of these deccan "breccia-cored columnar rosettes" ruled out explanations such as volcanic vents and lava tubes,and showed that the radial joint columns had grown outwards from cold FTB inclusions incorporated into the hot molten *** the highly vesicular(thus low-density)FTB blocks might have sunk into the flow interiors has remained a *** we describe a new example of a deccan rubbly pahoehoe flow with FTB-cored rosettes,from Elephanta Island in the Mumbai *** that(1)thick rubbly pahoehoe flows probably form by rapid inflation(involving many lava injections into a largely molten advancing flow),and(2)such flows are transitional to 'a'a flows(which continuously shed their top clinker in front of them as they advance),we propose a model for the FTB-cored *** suggest that the deccan flows under study were shedding some of their FTB in front of them as they advanced and,with high-eruption rate lava injection and inflation,frontal breakouts would incorporate this FTB rubble,with thickening of the flow carrying the rubble into the flow *** implies that,far from sinking into the molten interior,the FTB blocks may have been rising,until lava supply and inflation stopped,the flow began solidifying,and joint columns developed outward from each cold FTB inclusion as already inferred,forming the FTB-cored *** rubbly pahoehoe flows which began recycling most of their FTB became the 'a'a flows of the deccan.

Cancer therapy is undergoing a paradigm shift toward immunotherapy focusing on various approaches to activate the host immune *** research to identify appropriate immune cells and activate anti-tumor immunity continues to expand,scientists are looking at microbial sources given their inherent ability to elicit an immune *** extracellular vesicles(BEVs)are actively studied to control systemic humoral and cellular immune responses instead of using whole microorganisms or other types of extracellular vesicles(EVs).BEVs also provide the opportunity as versatile drug delivery *** mammalian EVs,BEVs have already made it to the clinic with the meningococcal vaccine(Bexsero®).However,there are still many unanswered questions in the use of BEVs,especially for chronic systemically administered *** this review,we address the opportunities and challenges in the use of BEVs for cancer immunotherapy and provide an outlook towards development of BEV products that can ultimately translate to the clinic.

A novel ZnO/reduced graphene oxide and Prussian blue modified carbon paste electrode for the sensitive determination of Rutin

A carbon paste modified sensor based on a novel composite of zinc oxide nanoparticles deposited on reduced graphene oxide(ZnO-rGrO) and Prussian blue(PB) was drop-cast(ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE) for the sensitive estimation of Rutin(Rtn) at pH *** high surface area of ZnO-rGrO and electrocatalytic property of PB promotes the oxidation of Rtn. Field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EdX) techniques were employed to confirm the deposition of ZnO-rGrO and PB on carbon paste electrode(CPE). The ability of ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE in charge transfer at the interface was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). The heterogeneous rate constant(ks) and the charge transfer coefficient(α) have been calculated as 6.08 s^(-1) and 0.74 respectively. This sensor showed a wide linear response for Rtn from 7.0×10^(-8)to 7.0×10^(-6) M and 7.0×10^(-6) to 1.0×10^(-4) M with a limit of detection(2.05±0.04)×10^(-8) M(S/N=3). The application of ZnO-rGrO-PB/MCPE was found in the analysis of Rtn in fruit juice samples using standard addition method. This sensor showed good reproducibility, stability, selectivity and sensitivity.

Properties of Charmonium States in a Phenomenological Approach

We investigate the spectrum and decay rates of charmonium states within the framework of the non relativistic quark model by employing a Coulomb like potential from the perturbative one gluon exchange and the linear confining potential along with the potential derived from instanton vacuum to account for the hyperfine mass splitting of charmonium states in variational approach. We predict radiative E1, M1, two-photon, lepton and two-gluon decay rates of low lying charmonium states. An overall agreement is obtained with the experimental masses and decay *** have estimated the branching ratio of two gluons decaying into light hadrons.

Effect of tamoxifen on spermatogenesis and tubular morphology in rats

Aim: To observe the effect of tamoxifen citrate on spermatogenesis and tubular morphology in rats. Methods: The effect of tamoxifen citrate i.g. at doses of 400 and 800 mg·kg·day-1 in 0.1 mL olive oil for 30 days on seminiferous tubular morphology, seminiferous epithelial diameter (STd), epithelial height (SEH), epididymal sperm count and percent abnormal sperm were evaluated at day 1, 12 and 36 after treatment. Controls were given the vehicle. Results: The higher dose resulted in tubular atrophy on day 31. The STd, SEH and sperm count were decreased and the abnormal spermatozoa increased in a dose-dependent manner with the maximal effect on day 36. Conclusion: Tamoxifen citrate induces tubular shrinkage and atrophy and sperm abnormality at a dose-dependent manner.
