通过限制作图,对5个地区群体中147人的线粒体DNAs(mtDNAs)进行了分析。假定所有这些mtDNA,是由一个在非洲生活了20万年的女人所产生。所调查的除非洲群体之外的所有群体,都有多种起源,说明每一个地区都是经过反复迁移多次的。目前,有关人类进化历史的真实信息,主要还靠分子生物学所提供。对于猿进化为人的遗传分歧和人之间相互关联的遗传方式等问题;都由分子生物学提出了新见解。可是,有关人种内遗传进化图是含糊不清的,原因是基于核基因的比较,而核基因内的突变积累是缓慢的;再者,核基因是由父母双方遗传并在每一代中混杂。这种混杂给个体的历史布上了阴影并使重组出现;重组使得个体难以追踪除了被认为是紧密相关位点以外的个别DNA片段的历史。

Grammatical and lexical Errors in Students＇ English Composition Writing： The Case of Three Senior High Schools （SHS） in the Central Region of Ghana

This is a qualitative study aimed at finding the lexical and grammatical errors students of three Senior High Schoolsin the Central Region of Ghana commit in their essay writing. The study also sought to examine the frequency ofthe errors and what can be done to improve the teaching of l2 （English） writing in the Senior High School. Thestudy used a corpus of essay writings of 150 second year students. The schools and the participants werepurposively selected. The data were analyzed using the content analysis approach. The study identified that thelexical errors in the students＇ writing were due to homophone problems and semantic lexical errors. Thegrammatical errors identified were agreement errors, tense errors, singular-plural （number） errors, prepositionalerrors, and article errors. The study also found that the most frequently committed grammatical error was tenseerrors followed by agreement errors. The implications of these findings to the teaching of English writing are thatteachers where possible should have understanding of both the l1 and l2 of the students and teachers shouldexplicitly teach for transfer, have adequate knowledge of how to identify students＇ writing errors, and use effectiveteaching strategies to improve students＇ English writing. Additionally, teachers should serve as models of usingappropriate English for students to emulate and also create a conducive classroom environment for students toparticipate in class activities. lastly, teachers should create more opportunities for students to write.

AIM:To determine the contributions of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1),cytokines and liver disease severity to bone mineral density in patients ***:Serum IGF-1,tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα) and interleukin 6 (Il-6) were measured and the Model for End-Stage liver Disease (MElD) score calculated in 121 adult patients referred to a single centre for liver *** mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine and femoral neck were assessed via dual energy X-ray ***,liver disease etiology,medication use and relevant biochemistry were ***:A total of 117 subjects were included,with low BMD seen in 68.6%,irrespective of disease *** multivariable analysis,low body mass index (BMI),increased bone turnover and low IGF-1 were independent predictors of low spinal bone *** the hip,BMI,IGF-1 and vitamin D status were *** prevalent elevations of TNFα and Il-6,levels did not correlate with degree of bone *** MElD score failed to predict low BMD in this pre-transplant ***:Osteopenia/osteoporosis is common in advanced liver *** serum IGF-1 is weakly predictive but serum cytokine and MElD score fail to predict the severity of bone disease.

Emerging adulthood(EA)is a critical stage of life to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle,which is also a time of vulnerability to poor physical and mental health *** this study,we conducted a path analysis(N=1326)to examine associations among four dimensions of EA,levels of regular physical activity(PA),self-control,MPA tendency and irrational *** found:1)higher levels of PA predicted both MPA tendency(β=−0.08,95%CI:−0.11 to−0.06,pl procrastination(β=−0.01,95%CI:−0.17 to−0.008,ply via self-control;2)Instability(β=0.13,95%CI:0.08 to 0.18,plity(β=−0.06,95%CI:−0.10 to−0.08,p=0.03)exerted direct effects on irrational procrastination and Instability also indirectly predicted irrational procrastination via MPA tendency(β=0.03,95%CI:0.02 to 0.05,plinked to behavioral problems and supported that regular PA plays a crucial role to protect mental health.

AIM:To investigate the association of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)promoter polymorphisms with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)***:One thousand and six New Zealand Caucasian cases and 540 Caucasian controls were genotyped for the MIF SNP-173G>C(rs755622)and the repeat polymorphism CATT5-8(rs5844572)using a predesigned TaqMan SNP assay and capillary electrophoresis,*** were analysed for single site and haplotype association with IBD risk and ***-analysis was employed,to assess cumulative evidence of association of MIF-173G>C with *** published genotype data for MIF-173G>C in IBD were identified using PubMed and subsequently searching the references of all PubMed-identified *** genotypes for MIF-173G>C were generated from the Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium(and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases).Separate meta-analyses were performed on Caucasian Crohn’s disease(CD)(3863 patients,6031controls),Caucasian ulcerative colitis(UC)(1260 patients,1987 controls),and East Asian UC(416 patients and 789 controls)datasets using the Mantel-Haenszel *** New Zealand dataset had 93%power,and the meta-analyses had 100%power to detect an effect size of OR=1.40 atα=0.05,***:In our New Zealand dataset,single-site analysis found no evidence of association of MIF polymorphisms with overall risk of CD,UC,and IBD or disease phenotype(all P values>0.05).Haplotype analysis found the CATT5/-173C haplotype occurred at a higher frequency in New Zealand controls compared to IBD patients(0.6 vs 0.01;P=0.03,OR=0.22;95%CI:0.05-0.99),but this association did not survive bonferroni ***-analysis of our New Zealand MIF-173G>C data with data from seven additional Caucasian datasets using a random effects model found no association of MIF polymorphisms with CD,UC,or overall ***,meta-analysis of all published MIF-173G>C data from East Asian datasets(416UC patients

Various theories and analytical formulations were implemented and exploited in the 1980s and 1990s for the design of bridge beams or decks curved in the horizontal plane and subjected to out-of-plane loads. Nowadays, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is a valid tool for the analysis of structures with complex geometries and, therefore, the development of sophisticated analytical formulations is not needed anymore. However, they are still useful for the validation of FE models. This paper presents the case study of an existing viaduct built in North Italy, aiming to compare analytical approaches and numerical modelling. The bridge is characterized by an axis curved in two directions and a rectilinear segment. The global analysis of the viaduct is carried out with special attention to the attributes that cause torque action and bending moment. The theoretical developments focus on a deeper understanding of the torsional response under different constraint and loading conditions and aspire to raise awareness of the mutual interaction of flexural and torsional behaviour, that are always present in these complex curved systems. The examination of the case study is also obtained by comparing the response of isostatic and hyperstatic curvilinear steel box-girders.

Cucumber,Cucumis sativus l.(2n=2x=14),is an important vegetable crop *** was the first specialty crop with a publicly available draft *** relatively small,diploid genome,short life cycle,and selfcompatible mating system offers advantages for genetic *** recent years,significant progress has been made in molecular mapping,and identification of genes and QTl responsible for key phenotypic traits,but a systematic review of the work is ***,we conducted an extensive literature review on mutants,genes and QTl that have been molecularly mapped or characterized in *** documented 81 simply inherited trait genes or major-effect QTl that have been cloned or fine *** each gene,detailed information was compiled including chromosome locations,allelic variants and associated polymorphisms,predicted functions,and diagnostic markers that could be used for marker-assisted selection in cucumber *** also documented 322 QTl for 42 quantitative traits,including 109 for disease resistances against seven *** alignment of these QTl on the latest version of cucumber draft genomes,consensus QTl across multiple studies were inferred,which provided insights into heritable correlations among different *** collaborative efforts among public and private cucumber researchers,we identified 130 quantitative traits and developed a set of recommendations for QTl nomenclature in *** is the first attempt to systematically summarize,analyze and inventory cucumber mutants,cloned or mapped genes and QTl,which should be a useful resource for the cucurbit research community.
