Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells(MSCs)have demonstrated therapeutic efficacy for bone regeneration in animal and clinical *** MSCs were initially thought to differentiate to various cell types to replace the injured/diseased tissue,it is now accepted that these cells secrete factors to promote tissue repair.1 Among these factors,small extracellular vesicles(sEVs)of size 50–200 nm,which include the exosomes,have been identified as the principal agent mediating the wide-ranging therapeutic efficacy of MSCs.2 Several studies have also reported the therapeutic effects of MSC-sEVs to enhance bone repair in animal models,as recently reviewed.3 However,the cellular processes and mechanisms mediated by MSC-sEVs in bone regeneration remain to be fully elucidated.

Obesity is a growing problem defined as a body mass index of greater than 30 kg/*** is predicted that by 2030,48.9%of adults will be classified as obese which expands surgical risk factors to a broad population while increasing healthcare costs at the same time in different socioeconomic *** specific population has been widely studied in multiple surgical fields and published studies have shown the implications in each of these *** impact of obesity on orthopedic surgical outcomes has been previously reported in several total hip and knee arthroscopy studies,with evidence indicating that obesity is strongly associated with an increased risk of post operative complications together with higher revision *** line with increasing interest on the impact of obesity in orthopedics,there has been a similar output of publications in the foot and ankle *** review article evaluates several foot and ankle pathologies,their risk factors associated with obesity and subsequent *** provides an updated,comprehensive analysis of the effects of obesity on foot and ankle surgical outcomes,with the ultimate aim of educating both surgeons and allied health professionals about the risks,benefits,and modifiable factors of operating on obese patients.

It is well-known that artificial boundary conditions are crucial for the efficient and accurate computations of wavefields on unbounded domains. In this paper, we investigate stability analysis for the wave equation coupled with the first and the second order absorbing boundary conditions. the computational scheme is also developed. the approach allows the absorbing boundary conditions to be naturally imposed, which makes it easier for us to construct high order schemes for the absorbing boundary conditions. A thirdorder Lagrange finite element method with mass lumping is applied to obtain the spatial discretization of the wave equation. the resulting scheme is stable and is very efficient since no matrix inversion is needed at each time step. Moreover, we have shown both abstract and explicit conditional stability results for the fully-discrete schemes. the results are helpful for designing computational parameters in computations. Numerical computations are illustrated to show the efficiency and accuracy of our method. In particular, essentially no boundary reflection is seen at the artificial boundaries.

Effect of environmental factors on the effectiveness of ammoniated bagasse in wicking oil from contaminated wetlands

Ammoniated bagasse is a plant-derived organic sorbent that can be used for capturing oil and for supplying slow-release nutrients to oil-degrading microorganisms. We investigated the oil-wicking behavior of this sorbent under various conditions for its effectiveness in remediating oil-contaminated wetlands. Abiotic microcosms simulating a wetland environment were used to assess the influence of sand particle sizes （20x30 and 60x80 U.S. mesh）, degrees of oil saturation （25% and 75%）, water table levels （on top of the clean sand layer, oiled-sand layer, and sorbent layer）, and the presence of sorbent. Results indicated that oil wicking favors higher oil contamination, larger sand particle size, and low water coverage. Water coverage was the predominant factor limiting the effectiveness of sorbent. the most plausible explanation for this limitation was that sorbent captured more water than oil at higher water coverage.

Cancer progression is marked by the infiltration of immunosuppressive cells,such as tumor-associated macrophages(tAMs),regulatory t lymphocytes(tregs),and myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs).these cells play a key role in abrogating the cytotoxic t lymphocyte-mediated(CtL)immune response,allowing tumor growth to proceed ***,targeting these immunosuppressive cells through the use of peptides and peptide-based nanomedicine has shown promising *** we review the origins and functions of immunosuppressive cells in cancer progression,peptide-based systems used in their targeting,and explore future avenues of research regarding cancer *** success of these studies demonstrates the importance of the tumor immune microenvironment in the propagation of cancer and the potential of peptide-based nanomaterials as immunomodulatory agents.

the fine structure of lithium-like ls^(2)4d states in the literature behaves irregularly as a function of *** fine structures of the B III and Ne VIII fall well below the isoelectronic *** term energies of these two systems in the data tables also give worse agreement with the theoretical *** this work,we show that the reason for this unusual situation is caused by a misidentification in the original *** the correct identifications are made,the fine structures of both systems fall on the isoelectronic curve and the agreement between theory and experiment is excellent.

During the first welding process in manufacturing a precise seam container, the steel material must first undergo a full annealing treatment. Multilayer welding operations are conducted and then applied with refining treatment to obtain the goal by hardening. the influence of thermal refining on mechanical properties of annealed SAE 4130 by multilayer GtAW （gas tungsten arc welding） was discussed. the AW （annealing＋welding） and AWSt （annealing＋welding＋solution＋tempering） occurred with a minimum hardness value at GGHAZ （grain growth heat affected zone） due to coarse grain growth~ the hardness occurred with sudden drops between the multilayer welding, but was still larger than the minimum value at HAZ （heat affected zone）. the welded joint efficiency of the AWSt was 89.9%, with the elongation reduced to 77.2% of ASt （annealing＋solution＋tempering）. the cross section of the tensile samples both appeared with a uniform dimple-shaped structure, and however the necking for ASt was greater than that for AWSt. the impact value for AWSt was 166.5% of ASt. Moreover, from microstructure observations, it was found that AWSt had a greater tendency to ductile failure than ASt. these results can be inferred., the process of steady pressure and the initial position of the precision tube breakage HAZ. However, when stress occurs instantly, HAZ can absorb more energy, therefore the initial damage does not occur.

Anabolic steroid abuse is common among athletes and is associated with a number of medical complications. We describe a case of a 27-year-old male bodybuilder with multiple hepatic adenomas induced by anabolic steroids. He initially presented with tumor hemorrhage and was treated with left lateral hepatic segmentectomy. Regression of the remaining tumors was observed with cessation of steroid use. However, 3 years and a half after his initial hepatic segmentectomy, he presented with recurrent tumor enlargement and intraperitoneal hemorrhage in the setting of steroid abuse relapse. Given his limited hepatic reserve, he was conservatively managed with embolization of the right accessory hepatic artery. this is the first reported case of hepatic adenoma re- growth with recidivistic steroid abuse, complicated by life-threatening hemorrhage. While athletes and bodybuilders are often aware of the legal and social ramifications of steroid abuse, they should continue to be counseled about its serious medical risks.

With the continuous development of information technology,data centers(DCs)consume significant and evergrowing amounts of electrical *** energy sources(RESs)can act as clean solutions to meet this requirement without polluting the *** DC serves numerous users for their data service demands,which are regarded as flexible *** this paper,the willingness to pay and time sensitivities of DC users are firstly explored,and the user-side demand response is then devised to improve the overall benefits of DC ***,a Stackelberg game between a DC and its users is *** upper-level model aims to maximize the profit of the DC,in which the time-varying pricing of data services is optimized,and the lower-level model addresses user’s optimal decisions for using data services while balancing their time and cost *** original bi-level optimization problem is then transformed into a single-level problem using the Karush-Kuhn-tucker optimality conditions and strong duality theory,which enables the problem to be solved ***,case studies are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method,as well as the effects of the time-varying data service price mechanism on the RES accommodation.
