Geochemical evidences of trace metal anomalies for finding hydrocarbon microseepage in the petroliferous regions of the Tatipaka and pasarlapudi areas of Krishna Godavari Basin,India

The long-term seepage of hydrocarbons, either as macroseepage or microseepage, can set up near-surface oxidation reduction zones that favor the development of a diverse array of chemical and mineralogical changes. The bacterial oxidation of light hydrocarbons can directly or indirectly bring about significant changes in the values of pH and Eh of the surrounding environment, thereby also changing the stability fields of the different mineral species present in that environment. The paper reports the role of hydrocarbon microseepage in surface alterations of trace metal concentrations. In this study trace metal alterations were mapped that appear to be associated with hydrocarbon microseepages in the oil/ gas fields. A total of 50 soil samples were collected near oil and gas fields of the Tatipaka and pasarlapudi areas of the Krishna Godavari Basin, Andhra pradesh. The soil samples were collected from a depth of 2-2.5 m. The paper reports the chemical alterations associated with trace metals in soils that are related to hydrocarbon microseepages above some of the major oil and gas fields of this petroliferous region. Trace metals, such as scandium （sc）, vanadium （V）, chromium （Cr）, cobalt （Co）, nickel （Ni）, copper （Cu）, zinc （Zn）, barium （Ba） and strontium （sr）, in soil samples were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma- mass spectrometry （ICp-Ms）. The concentrations of sc （8 to 40 mg/kg）, V （197 to 489 mg/kg）, Cr （106 to 287 mg/kg）, Co （31 to 52 mg/kg）, Ni （65 to 110 mg/kg）, Cu （88 to 131 mg/kg）, Zn （88 to 471 mg/kg）, Ba （263 to 3,091 mg/kg） and sr （119 to 218 mg/kg） were obtained. It was observed that the concentrations of trace elements were tremendously increased when they were compared with their normal concentrations in soils. The analysis of adsorbed soil gas showed the presence of high concentrations of YC2＋（C2H6, C3H8 and n-C4H10） ranging from 7 to 222 μg/kg respectively. The Influence of systematic Errors on the Asian summer Monsoon Circulation

The systematic errors of wind field associated with the prediction of Asian summer monsoon and their impact on the monsoon circulation have been studied in this paper. The daily operational analyses and fore-casts (up to day-5) of the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), India, over the Asian summer monsoon domain for the period June, July and August of 1995 are made use for the purpose. The systematic errors associated with the low level flow delineate, reduction in the strength of trade winds leading to weakening of cross equatorial flow as well as westerly flow over Indian Ocean. The upper level errors connote weakening of Tibetan anticyclone and reduction in the strength of return flow into the southern Hemisphere. Further, these errors evince growing tendency with increase in the forecast period. Apart from the general underestimation of kinetic energy budget terms, the model forecasts fail to represent the transient eddies. The forecasts show increasing trend in the conversion of eddy to mean kinetic energy. These errors enfeeble Asian summer monsoon circulation with increase in the forecast period. Evaluating the effectiveness of marine actinobacterial extract and its mediated titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the degradation of azo dyes

Aim of the present study was to synthesize titanium dioxide nanoparticles （YiO2 Nps） from marine actinobacteria and to develop an eco-friendly azo-dye degradation method. A total of five actinobacterial isolates were isolated from Chennai marine sediments, Tamilnadu, India and analyzed for the synthesis of TiO2 Nps using titanium hydroxide. Among these, the isolate psV 3 showed positive results for the synthesis of TiO2 Nps, which was confirmed by UV analysis. Further characterization of the synthesized TiO2 Nps was done using XRD, AFM and FI＇-IR analysis. Actinobacterial crude extract and synthesized TiO2 Nps was found efficient in degrading azo dye such as Acid Red 79 （AR-79） and Acid Red 80 （AR-80）. Degradation percentage was found to be 81% for AR-79, 83% for AR-80 using actinobacterial crude extract and 84% for AR-79, 85% for AR-80 using TiO2 Nps. Immobilized actinobacterial ceils showed 88% for AR-79 and 81% for AR- 80, dye degrading capacity. Degraded components were characterized by FT-IR and GC-Ms analysis. The phytotoxicity test with 500 μg/ml of untreated dye showed remarkable phenotypic as well as cellular damage to Tagetes erecta plant. Comparatively no such damage was observed on plants by degraded dye components. In biotoxicity assay, treated dyes showed less toxic effect as compared to the untreated dyes.

Ethnobotanical study towards Conservation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants in Upper Catchments of Dhauli Ganga in the Central Himalaya

The present study broadly focused on medicinal plant species collected from wild by the villagers for different purposes in the upper catchment of Dhauli Ganga in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve(NDBR),in the central Himalaya.A schedule based survey was conducted during the years 2003-2005 in 15 villages of Chamoli district part of the *** was collected from collectors, vaidya(medicine man)and those dealing with domestication and marketing of the medicinal plants. The aim of the study was to understand the prioritiesed medicinal plants,their mode of collection and document their ethnobotanical uses by the Bhotiya tribal communities,in this world heritage site. During the survey,50 medicinal plants belonging to 31 families and 44 genera were *** of these,70% were harvested from the wild,22% were cultivated and 8% were cultivated as well as wild *** the cultivated species,8% were found growing in the kitchen gardens and 14%in the agricultural ***,42%of the plants had their roots and rhizomes used followed by leaves (26%),seeds(10%),seed and leaf(8%),bark and whole plant(6%)and flower(1%).Most plants were reported to be used for rheumatism(16),followed by stomach disorder(14),cold and cough(11),and jaundice(9).Thirty three plants species were reported to have more than one therapeutic uses,while 17 species were reported to be used against single *** distance of villages from road head was one of the factors contributing to the decline in the medicinal plant population in their natural habitats. An ecofriendly approach for corrosion control of 6061 Al-15%(v)siC(p)composite and its base alloy

Corrosion inhibition characteristics of bio polymer dextran was studied for the corrosion control of 6061 Al-15%_((v)) siC_((p)) composite and its base alloy in 1 mol·l^(-1) HCl. standard electrochemical techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization(pDp) measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIs) method were adopted for corrosion rate measurement. surface morphology was studied by scanning electron microscopy(sEM) and elemental mapping was done by energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) analysis. suitable mechanism was proposed for corrosion and inhibition process. Results indicated that dextran acts as an excellent anticorrosive agent for the corrosion control of 6061 Al-15%_((v)) siC_((p)) composite, with maximum inhibition efficiency of 91% for the concentration of 0.4 g·l^(-1) at 303 K. Dextran acted as a mixed type of inhibitor, and got physically adsorbed both on composite and base alloy by obeying langmuir adsorption isotherm. Dextran is proved to be a green inhibitor with environmental and economic benefits.

Implications for the lithospheric structure of Cambay rift zone,western India:Inferences from a magnetotelluric study

Broad-band and long-period magnetotelluric(MT)data were acquired along an east-west trending traverse of nearly 200 km across the Kachchh,Cambay rift basins,and Aravalli-Delhi fold belt(ADFB),western *** regional strike analysis of MT data indicated an approximate N59°E geoelectric strike direction under the traverse and it is in fair agreement with the predominant geological strike in the study *** decomposed transverse electric(TE)-and transverse magnetic(TM)-data modes were inverted using a nonlinear conjugate gradient algorithm to image the electrical lithospheric structure across the Cambay rift basin and its surrounding *** studies show a thick(~1-5 km)layer of conductive Tertiary-Mesozoic sediments beneath the Kachchh and Cambay rift *** resistive blocks indicate presence of basic/ultrabasic volcanic intrusives,depleted mantle lithosphere,and different precambrian structural *** crustal conductor delineated within the ADFB indicates the presence of fluids within the fault zones,sulfide mineralization within polyphase metamorphic rocks,and/or Aravalli-Delhi sediments/*** observed conductive anomalies beneath the Cambay rift basin indicate the presence of basaltic underplating,volatile(CO2,H2 O)enriched melts and channelization of melt fractions/fluids into crustal depths that occurred due to plume-lithosphere *** variations in electrical resistivity observed across the profile indicate that the impact of Reunion plume on lithospheric structures of the Cambay rift basin is more dominant at western continental margin of India(WCMI)and thus support the hypothesis proposed by Campbell&Griffiths about the plume-lithosphere interactions.

Maximum power point tracking using decision-tree machine-learning algorithm for photovoltaic systems

This work presents a machine-learning(Ml)algorithm for maximum power point tracking(MppT)of an isolated photovoltaic(pV)*** to the dynamic nature of weather conditions,the energy generation of pV systems is *** there is no specific method for effectively dealing with the non-linear data,the use of Ml methods to operate the pV system at its maximum power point(Mpp)is desirable.A strategy based on the decision-tree(DT)regression Ml algorithm is proposed in this work to determine the Mpp of a pV *** data were gleaned from the technical specifications of the pV module and were used to train and test the *** algorithms predict the maximum power available and the associated voltage of the module for a defined amount of irradiance and *** boost converter duty cycle was determined using predicted *** simulation was carried out for a 10-W solar panel with a short-circuit current of 0.62 A and an open-circuit voltage of 21.50 V at 1000 W/m^(2) irradiance and a temperature of 25℃.The simulation findings demonstrate that the proposed method compelled the pV panel to work at the Mpp predicted by DTs compared to the existing topologies such asβ-MppT,cuckoo search and artificial neural network *** the proposed algorithm,efficiency has been improved by>93.93%in the steady state despite erratic irradiance and temperatures.

The design of a three-input logic circuit using carbon nanotube field effect transistors(CNTFETs)is *** logic must be an exact replacement for dual logic since it performs straightforwardly in digital devices,which is why this design is so popular,and it also reduces chip area,both of which are examples of circuit *** proposed module we have investigated is a triple-logic-based one,based on advanced technology CNTFETs and an emphasis on minimizing delay times at various values,as well as comparisons of the design working with various load *** the proposed design with the existing design,the delay times was reduced from 66.32 to 16.41 ps,i.e.,a 75.26%***,the power dissipation was not optimized,and increased by 1.44%compared to the existing *** number of transistors was also reduced,and the product of power and delay(p∗D)achieved a value of 0.0498053 *** improvement at 1 V was also achieved.A load capacitance(fF)was measured at different values,and the average delay measured for different values of capacitance had a maximum of 83.60 ps and a minimum of 22.54 ps,with a range of 61.06 *** power dissipations ranged from a minimum of 3.38μW to a maximum of 6.49μ*** on these results,the use of this CNTFET half-adder design in multiple Boolean circuits will be a useful addition to circuit design.

spin glass theory,as a paradigm for describing disordered magnetic systems,constitutes a prominent subject of study within statistical *** symmetry breaking(RsB),as one of the pivotal concepts for the understanding of spin glass theory,means that under identical conditions,disordered systems can yield distinct states with nontrivial *** fiber laser(RFl)based on Rayleigh scattering(Rs)is a complex disordered system,owing to the disorder and stochasticity of *** this work,for the first time,a precise theoretical model is elaborated for studying the photonic phase transition via the platform of Rs-based RFl,in which we clearly reveal that,apart from the pump power,the photon phase variation in RFl is also an analogy to the temperature term in spin-glass phase transition,leading to a novel insight into the intrinsic mechanisms of photonic phase *** addition,based on this model and real-time high-fidelity detection spectral evolution,we theoretically predict and experimentally observe the mode-asymmetric characteristics of photonic phase transition in Rs-based *** finding contributes to a deeper understanding of the photonic RsB regime and the dynamics of Rs-based RFl.
