BAcKGROUND Demineralized bone matrix(DBM)is a commonly utilized allogenic bone graft substitute to promote osseous ***,little is known regarding outcomes following DBM utilization in foot and ankle surgical *** To evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes following DBM as a biological adjunct in foot and ankle surgical *** During May 2023,the PubMed,EMBASE and cochrane library databases were systematically reviewed to identify clinical studies examining outcomes following DBM for the management of various foot and ankle *** regarding study characteristics,patient demographics,subjective clinical outcomes,radiological outcomes,complications,and failure rates were extracted and *** addition,the level of evidence(LOE)and quality of evidence(QOE)for each individual study was also *** studies were included in this *** In total,363 patients(397 ankles and feet)received DBM as part of their surgical procedure at a weighted mean follow-up time of 20.8±9.2 *** most common procedure performed was ankle arthrodesis in 94 patients(25.9%).Other procedures performed included hindfoot fusion,1st metatarsophalangeal joint arthrodesis,5th metatarsal intramedullary screw fixation,hallux valgus correction,osteochondral lesion of the talus repair and unicameral talar cyst *** osseous union rate in the ankle and hindfoot arthrodesis cohort,base of the 5th metatarsal cohort,and calcaneal fracture cohort was 85.6%,100%,and 100%,*** weighted mean visual analog scale in the osteochondral lesions of the talus cohort improved from a pre-operative score of 7.6±0.1 to a post-operative score of 0.4±*** overall complication rate was 27.2%,the most common of which was non-union(8.8%).There were 43 failures(10.8%)all of which warranted a further surgical *** This current systematic review demonstrated that the utilization of DBM in foot and ankle surgical proced

A collection representing the native range of pecan was planted at the US DA-ARS Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Research Station,Byron,*** collection(867 trees)is a valuable genetic resource for characterizing important horticultural *** density during leaf fall is important as the seasonal canopy dynamics provides insights to environmental cues and breeding potential of *** ability of visual raters to estimate canopy density on a subset of the provenance collection(76 trees)as an indicator of leaf shed during autumn along with image analysis values was *** canopy density using the image analysis software was less compared to visual estimates(11.9%vs 18.4%,respectively).At higher canopy densities,the raters overestimated foliage density,but overall agreement between raters and measured values was good(ρc=0.849 to 0.915),and inter-rater reliability was high(R^(2)=0.910 to 0.953).The provenance from Missouri(MOL),the northernmost provenance,had the lowest canopy density in November,and results show that the higher the latitude of the provenance,the lower the canopy *** on regression,the source provenance latitude explained 0.609 of the variation using image analysis,and0.551 to 0.640 when based on the rater estimates of canopy *** assessment of pecan canopy density due to late season leaf fall for comparing pecan genotypes provides accurate and reliable estimates and could be used in future studies of the whole provenance collection.

cohesive scientific evidence from molecular, animal, and human investigations supports the hypothesis that constitutive overexpression of cyclooxygenase-2(cOX-2) is a ubiquitous driver of mammary carcinogenesis, and reciprocally, that cOX-2 blockade has strong potential for breast cancer prevention and therapy. Key findings include the following:(1) cOX-2 is constitutively expressed throughout breast cancer development and expression intensifies with stage at detection, cancer progression and metastasis;(2) essential features of mammary carcinogenesis(mutagenesis, mitogenesis, angiogenesis, reduced apoptosis, metastasis and immunosuppression) are linked to cOX-2-driven prostaglandin E2(PGE-2) biosynthesis;(3) upregulation of cOX-2 and PGE-2 expression induces transcription of cYP-19 and aromatase-catalyzed estrogen biosynthesis which stimulates unbridled mitogenesis;(4) extrahe-patic cYP-1B1 in mammary adipose tissue converts paracrine estrogen to carcinogenic quinones with mutagenic impact; and(5) agents that inhibit cOX-2 reduce the risk of breast cancer in women without disease and reduce recurrence risk and mortality in women with breast cancer. Recent sharp increases in global breast cancer incidence and mortality are likely driven by chronic inflammation of mammary adipose and upregulation of cOX-2 associated with the obesity pandemic. The totality of evidence clearly supports the supposition that mammary carcinogenesis often evolves as a progressive series of highly specific cellular and molecular changes in response to induction of constitutive overexpression of cOX-2 and the prostaglandin cascade in the "inflammogenesis of breast cancer".

Decomposition of plant litter is a fundamental process in ecosystem function, carbon and nutrient cycling and, by extension, climate change. This study aimed to investigate the role of temperature on the decomposition of water soluble phenolics（WSP）, carbon and soil nutrients in conjunction with the phytotoxicity dynamics of chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. monilifera（boneseed） litter. Treatments consisted of three factors including decomposition materials（litter alone, litter with soil and soil alone）, decomposition periods and temperatures（5-15, 15-25and 25-35°c（night/day））. Leachates were collected on 0, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 60 th days to analyse physico-chemical parameters and phytotoxicity. Water soluble phenolics and dissolved organic carbon（DOc） increased with increasing temperature while nutrients like SO-24 and NO-13 decreased. Speed of germination, hypocotyl and radical length and weight of Lactuca sativa exposed to leachates were decreased with increasing decomposition temperature. All treatment components had significant effects on these parameters. There had a strong correlation between DOc and WSP, and WSP content of the leachates with radical length of test species. This study identified complex interactivity among temperature, WSP, DOc and soil nutrient dynamics of litter occupied soil and that these factors work together to influence phytotoxicity.
