Ras proteins are signal-transducing GTPases that cycle between inactive GDP-bound and active GTP-bound *** is a prolific signaling molecule interacting with a spectrum of effector molecules and acting through more than one signaling *** Ras-effector proteins contain a Ras-associating(RA)domain through which these associate with Ras in a GTP-dependent *** RA domain is highly conserved among the members of the growth factor receptor-bound(Grb)7 family of proteins which includes Grb7,Grb10 and *** laboratory has reported an unusual observation that RA domain of Grb14 binds to the C-terminal nucleotide binding site of cyclic nucleotide gated channel(CTRCNGA1)and inhibits the channel *** modeling of the CTR-CNGA1 displays 50%---70%tertiary structural similarity towards Ras *** named this region as Ras-like domain(RLD).The interaction between RA-Grb14 and RLD-CNGA1 is mediated through a simple protein-protein interaction temporally and spatially regulated by light and *** is interesting to note that Grb14 binds to GTPase-mutant Rab5,a Ras-related small GTPase whereas Grb10 binds only to GTP-bound form of active Rab5 but not to GTPase-defective mutant *** results suggest that Grb14 might have been evolved later in the evolution that binds to both Ras and nucleotide binding proteins such as *** studies also suggest that eukaryotic CNG channels could be evolved through a gene fusion between prokaryotic ion channels and cyclic nucleotide binding proteins,both of which might have undergone several sequence variations for functional adaptation during evolution.

We recently found that growth factor receptor-bound(Grb)protein 14 is a novel physiological modulator of photoreceptor specific cyclic nucleotide-gated channel alpha subunit(CNGA1).Grb14 promotes the CNG channel closure through its Ras-associating(RA)*** the current study we show that this RA domain-mediated inhibition of rod CNG channel is electrostatic in ***14 competes with cGMP for the CNGA1 binding pocket and electrostatically interacts with Arg^(559) through a negatively chargedβ-turn at its RA ***,the three Glu residues(180–182)in Grb14 are absolutely critical for electrostatic interaction with the cGMP binding pocket and resultant *** study also demonstrates that substitution of Lys^(140) for Ala or in combination with polyglutamte mutants of Grb14 results in a significantly reduced binding with *** results suggest that in addition to Glu^(180–182) and Lys^(140),other residues in Grb14 may be involved in the electrostatic interaction with *** RA domain is highly conserved among the members of Grb7 family of proteins,which includes Grb7,Grb10 and ***,only Grb14 is able to modulate the channel activity,but not Grb7 and *** together,it suggests the existence of a divergence in RA domains among the members of the Grb7 family.

The numerical studies of water–oil two-phase slug flow inside a two-dimensional vertical microchannel subjected to modulated wall temperature boundary conditions have been discussed in the present *** researchers have contributed their efforts in exploring the characteristics of Taylor flows inside microchannel under constant wall heat flux or isothermal wall ***,there is no study available in the literature which discusses the impact of modulated thermal wall boundary conditions on the heat transfer behavior of slug flows inside ***,to bridge this gap,an effort has been made to understand the heat transfer characteristics of the flow under sinusoidal wall temperature ***,a single phase flow and heat transfer study was performed in microchannels,and the results of the fully developed velocity profile and heat transfer rate were validated with benchmark analytical *** an optimal selection of the combination of sinusoidal thermal wall boundary conditions has been made for the two-phase slug flow ***,the effects of amplitude(0 bεb 0.03)and frequency(0 bωb 750πrad·s-1)of the sinusoidal wall temperature profile on the heat transfer have been studied using the optimal combination of the wall boundary *** results of the numerical study using modulated temperature conditions on channel walls showed a significant improvement in the heat transfer over liquid-only flow by approximately 50%as well as over two-phase flow without wall temperature *** non-dimensional temperature contours obtained for different cases of temperature modulation clearly explain the root cause of such improvement in the heat ***,the results based on the hydrodynamics of the flow have also been reported in terms of variation of droplet shapes and film *** influence of Capillary number on the film thickness as well as heat transfer rates has also been *** addition,the measured fil

Cel-xsmxO2 （x=0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3） and sm-doped ceria＋（2%-8%）Al2O3 were synthesized through sol-gel process followed by low temperature combustion. The synthesis, structure, densification, conductivity and thermal expansion were studied, and the structure and phase were confirmed by XRD. Dense ceramics were obtained through sintering the pellets at 1300 ℃. 2% and 4% Al2O3 were added into Ce0.8sm0.2O2 to promote the densification at 1250 ℃. The surface morphology of the sintered pellets was analyzed using sEM. A two-probe AC impedance spectroscopy was used to study the total ionic conductivity.

Hogbomite,a rare exotic mineral,is found to be associated with the vanadiferous-titaniferous （v-Ti） bearing magnetite bands at Bhakatarhalli,Nuggihaifi greenstone belt,western Dharwar Craton,*** report on a second occurrence of hogbomite from the Dharwar craton in Karnataka,which is the sixth documented occurrence of this mineral from *** evaluate the chemical characteristics of hogbomite and associated Fe-Ti-minerals in an attempt to identify its formation as a primary hydrothermal mineral in a metamorphosed magnetite *** report here the presence of hogbomite as a complex oxide of Fe,Mg,Al and Ti with accessory of Zn,v and *** studies suggest the （v-Ti） bearing magnetite （Mt） contain spinel,hogbomite,chlorite,martite,ilmenite （Ⅱ） and minor amounts of *** hogbomite displays euhedral to subhedral textures,and is up to 250 μm along the grain boundaries of magnetite and *** the samples studied,hogbomite is prismatic,irregular and elongated in *** genesis of hogbomite in veins between magnetite and ilmenite implies its precipitation from fluids without involving complicated *** models were proposed for the formation of hogbomite; however,the subject is still debatable.

In a deregulated power system uncertainty exists and lack of sufficient damping can lead to Low FrequencyOscillations (LFO). The problem can be addressed using robust Power system stabilizers (Pss). In this paper, anoptimal procedure to design a robust PID-Pss using interval arithmetic for the single Machine Infinite Bus (sMIB)power system is proposed. The interval modelling captures the wide variations of operating conditions in boundsof system coefficients. In the proposed design procedure, simple and new closed loop stability conditions for ansMIB interval system are developed and are used to design an optimum PID-Pss for improving the performance ofan sMIB system. The optimum PID-Pss is attained by tuning the parameters using the FMINCON tool provided inMATLAB. The robustness of the proposed PID-Pss design is validated and compared to other notable methods inthe literature when the system is subjected to different uncertainties. The simulation results and performance errorvalues show the effectiveness of the proposed robust PID-Pss controller.

This present work is aimed to examine the effect of mass flow rate on distillate output and performance of a solar still in active *** experiments were conducted at the coastal town,Kakinada(16°93′N/83°33′E),Andhra Pradesh,India.A solar still with a 30°of fixed cover inclination,1 m2 of effective basin area,and a flat-plate collector(FPC)with an effective area of 2 m2 were *** attempt was also made earlier in passive mode to optimize the water depth for the same solar still for maximum yield and distillation *** the passive still,it is observed that the capacity of heat storage and heat drop are significant parameters that affect the still *** the selected still design,the study reveals that 0.04 m water depth is the optimum value for specific climatic *** the active solar still,with the optimum water depth,different flow rates of 0.5,1 and 1.5 L/min are considered through *** is observed that both the mass flow rate and the variation of internal heat transfer coefficients with the mass flow rate have a significant effect on the yield and performance of the *** experimental results show that the combination of 1.5 L/min mass flow rate and an optimum water depth of 0.04 m leads to a maximum yield for the active solar *** enhanced yield of the active solar still is 57.55%,compared with that of the passive solar still,due to increase in area of radiation collection and more heat absorption rate.

New Data on the Mineralogy of Chromite from the Nuggihalli schist Belt,Western Dharwar Craton,Karnataka,India:Petrogenetic Implications

The occurrence of rhythmic layering of chromite and host serpentinites in the deformed layered igneous complexes has been noticed in the Nuggihalli schist belt （NsB） in the western Dharwar craton, Karnataka, south India. For this study, the chromitite rock samples were collected from Jambur, Tagadur, Bhakatarhalli, Ranganbetta and Byrapur in the NsB. Petrography and ore microscopic studies on chromite show intense cataclasis and alteration to ferritchromite. The ferritchromite compositions are characterized by higher Cr number （Cr/[Cr＋AI]）（0.68-0.98） and lower Mg number （Mg/[Mg＋Fe]）（0.33-0.82） ratios in ferritchromite compared to that of parent chromite. The formation process for the ferritchromite is thought to be related to the exchange of Mg, AI, Cr, and Fe between the chromite, surrounding silicates （serpentines, chlorites）, and fluid during serpentinization.

A mathematical model is proposed to execute the features of the non-uniform heat source or sink in the chemically reacting magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） Casson fluid across a slendering sheet in the presence of microorganisms and Cattaneo-Christov heat flux. Multiple slips （diffusion, thermal, and momentum slips） are applied in the modeling of the heat and mass transport processes. The Runge-Kutta based shooting method is used to find the solutions. Numerical simulation is carried out for various values of the physical constraints when the Casson index parameter is positive, negative, or infinite with the aid of plots. The coefficients of the skin factors, the local Nusselt number, and the sherwood number are estimated for different parameters, and discussed for engineering interest. It is found that the gyrotactic microorganisms are greatly encouraged when the dimensionless parameters increase, especially when the Casson fluid parameter is negative. It is worth mentioning that th~ velocity profiles when the Casson fluid parameter is positive are higher than those when the Casson fluid parameter is negative or infinite, whereas the temperature and concentration fields show exactly opposite phenomena.
