A facile preparation of 3D flower-shaped Ni/Al-LDHs covered by β-Ni(OH)2 nanoplates as superior material for high power application

In the present study,we propose a novel electrode material ofβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides via a facile complexation–precipitation *** as-obtained materials with 3-dimensional nanostructures are further utilized as highly capable electrode material in nickel–metal hydride *** electrochemical test results demonstrated theβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum-layered double hydroxides with 28%ofβ-nickel hydroxide provided a superior specific capacity value of 452 m A·h·g-1 in a current density of 5 A·g-1 using 6 M KOH as electrolyte as compared with other *** addition,the optimized sample displays an outstanding cyclic stability along with a huge specific capacity value of320 m Ah·g-1,and very small decay rate of 3.3%at 50 A·g-1 after 3000 cycles of charge/discharge *** indicate that the newly designed material with nanostructures not only provides an efficient contact interface between electrolyte and active species and facilitates the transport of electrons and ions,but also protects the 3-dimensional nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides,achieving a high specific capacity,fast redox reaction and excellent long-term cyclic ***,theβ-nickel hydroxide covering nickel/aluminum layered double hydroxides with superior electrochemical performance is predictable to be a gifted electrode material in nickel–metal hydride batteries.

Unique and hierarchically structured novel Co3O4/NiO nanosponges with superior photocatalytic activity against organic contaminants

In the present study, novel Co3O4/NiO nanosponges designed for the photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants were synthesized by a simple precipitation technique. The formation of sponge-like nanostructures was clearly evident through the TEM analysis. The photocatalytic efficiency was tested against rhodamine B （RhB） and congo red （CR） dye solutions. Co3O4/NiO nanosponges showed excellent and enhanced photocatalytic efficacy compared to those of Co3O4, NiO nanoparticles, and standards like Ti02 and ZnO. The influence of paramount important operational parameters was explored and the conditions for the best photocatalytic efficiency were optimized. The trapping experiment revealed that the reactive oxygen species （ROS） identified was · OH radical. These findings certainly open up a new way for synthesizing a morphology dependent photocatalyst.

Multiferroic Consequence of Porous (BiFeO_3)_x–(BiCrO_3)_(1-x) Composite Thin Films by Novel Sol–Gel Method

In this work,we have presented a spin-coating method to produce thin films started with pure BiCrO3（BCO）and ended up with BiFeO3（BFO）by increasing x values in the（BiFeO3）x-（BiCrO3）1-x *** the produced thin films have been crystallized at the annealing temperatures of 400 ℃ for 0.5 *** XRD and EDAX spectrums give insight that the two crystal phases related to BCO and BFO stayed together within the thin film *** analysis showed that the prepared composite had macroporous morphology with interconnected pores and its width（size）decreased with increasing x *** strong correlations are observed among the microstructure,dielectric,ferroelectric,ferromagnetic properties and Fe *** all composites,the composition of 0.75 shows an attractive magnetization,polarization,switching and improved dielectric behaviors at room *** increase in the multiferroic characteristics of 0.75 composition is due to arise of lower leakage current by causing reduction in oxygen vacancy density,and enhancement of super-exchange magnetic interaction between Fe3＋ and Cr3＋ at BFO/BCO interface *** result shows that the thin layer on Pt（111）/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate possesses simultaneously improved ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties which make an inaccessible potential application for nonvolatile ferroelectric memories.

Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of Halophila stipulacea(***), Cymodocea serrulata(***) and Halodule pinifolia(***) against seven human bacterial ***:The antibacterial activities of the extracts on the various test organisms using disc diffusion method and Minimum Inhibitory Concentraction(MIC).Results: Methanol and chloroform extracts of all the three seagrasses were active against all the tested pathogens,whereas the hexane extract of seagrasses was not active against Staphylococcus aureus (***).Antibacterial activity of three seagrass screened,was in the order of *** > ***.> ***:This antibacterial studies can further investigated on seagrasses for purification of bioactive substance and its possible utility in disease control.

In vitro antioxidant activities of ethanol extract from Enhalus acoroides (L.F.) Royle

Objective:To search for new sources of safe and inexpensive antioxidants,the leaf,root and rhizome of Enhalus acoroides(***) were screened for the first time for their antioxidant ***:Samples of leaf,root and rhizome from *** were tested for total phenolic content,proanthocyanidins and in vitro antioxidant activity in terms of total antioxidant assay,DPPH assay and FRAP ***:The leaf sample was found to have high levels of phenolic(0.323±0.028 mg TAE/g) and proanthocyanidins(0.570 0±0.000 3 mg TAE/g) when compared to root and *** leaf samples exhibited higher total antioxidant activity (11.770±0.026 mg Ascorbic acid equivalent/g),higher percentage of DPPH radical scavenging activity(25.76±0.04) and higher reducing power(18.060±0.073) in terms of mg GAE/*** addition, there was a significant correlation between total phenolic content and total antioxidant activity (R^2=0.923),DPPH assay(R^2=0.509).FRAP assay(R^2=0.994).Similarly,significant correlation was found between the proanthocyanidin and total antioxidant activity(R^2=0.977),DPPH assay (R^2=0.464) and the FRAP assay(R^2=0.998).Conclusions:These results suggested that *** have strong antioxidant *** study is necessary for isolation and characterization of the active antioxidant agents,which can be used to treat various oxidative stress-related diseases.

Gastric stump carcinoma,also known as remnant gastric carcinoma,is a malignancy arising in the remnant stomach following gastrectomy for a benign or malignant *** reflux and preexisting risk factors in a patient with gastric cancer are the major contributors to the development of gastric stump *** occurrence of gastric stump carcinoma is time-dependent and seen earlier in patients operated on for malignant rather than benign *** tumor location is predominantly at the anastomotic site towards the ***,it can occur anywhere in the remnant *** pattern of lymph node involvement and the type of surgery required is distinctly different compared to primary gastric *** stump carcinoma is traditionally considered a malignancy with a dismal ***,recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies have improved *** advances in molecular profiling of gastric stump carcinoma have identified distinct molecular subtypes,thereby providing novel therapeutic ***,reports of gastric stump carcinoma following pancreatoduodenectomy and bariatric surgery highlight the need for more research to standardize the diagnosis,staging,and treatment of these *** present review aims to provide an overview of gastric stump carcinoma highlighting the differences in clinicopathological profile and management compared to primary gastric carcinoma.

Methodology of Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan Preparation – Case Study of Andaman Islands, India

Generally, approaches of coastal issues are sectoral basis and solutions have been formed in adhoc fashions which are not long lasting. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) is conceived as a holistic management tool working across sectoral, disciplinary, and institutional boundaries. ICZM planning is a continuous process to achieve the goals and objectives by using alternative decisions. ICZM plan is providing boundary conditions for limitation, negotiation and implementation. Planning for coastal management is essentially requires integration of resources, uses, issues, and tools for achieving the management objectives. The ultimate goal of ICZM is to improve the quality of life of human communities. Coastal area management needs integrated, interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral approaches for sustainable utilization of resources, which is the fundamental objective of the resource planners and managers. Methodology for ICZM planning is differing in relation to the regional culture, society, economics, politics, nature, technology, scientific, human behavior, etc. Planning for coastal management is very easy by following the methodology or framework developed for the planning process. A case study of ICZM Plan for Andaman has been prepared by using the participatory methodology, which is the source of consensus for all stakeholders of the Andaman Islands. The tasks of ICZM Plan preparation for Andaman Islands includes, knowledgebase development, selection of ICZM plan preparation methodologies, conflict identification, risk analysis, cost benefit analysis, strategic and action plans, recommendations and institutional changes. This ICZM methodology could be used for comparing and understanding the boundary conditions of union or federal developing nations towards comparative planning.

FPGA Based Speed Control of SRM with Optimized Switching Angles by Self Tuning

The electromagnetic torque and speed in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) greatly depend on the excitation parametersi.e. turn-on angle, turn-off angle, dwell angle and magnitude of the phase currents of its phases. At lower speeds, a change in the current contributes the torque requirement which can be achieved either by voltage control (pulse width modulation) or instantaneous current control techniques. At high speeds, due to high back EMF, the regulation of current is crucial and achieved with the control of switching angles of phases. This type of control is referred as average torque control, where the torque is averaged over one stroke (2π/Nr). With constant dwell angle, advancing the phase angle influences the current into the phase winding at minimum inductance position. It has more time to get the current out of the phase winding before the rotor reaches the negative inductance slope. To maintain the speed of the motor at different load conditions, the turn-on and turn-off angles are adaptively varied. The change in dwell angle may be required where the turn-on and turn-off angle may not be sufficient to reach the required speed. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed for self tuning of switching parameters of SRM. The proposed algorithm is simulated in MATLAB-Simulink and experimentally validated with Field Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) using MATLAB- system generator environment.

Optimal Power Flow Solution Using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique with Global-Local Best Parameters

This paper proposes an efficient method for optimal power flow solution （OPF） using particle swarm optimization （PSO） technique. The objective of the proposed method is to find the steady state operation point in a power system which minimizes the fuel cost, while maintaining an acceptable system performance in terms of limits on generator power, line flow limits and voltage limits. In order to improvise the performance of the conventional PSO （cPSO）, the fine tuning parameters- the inertia weight and acceleration coefficients are formulated in terms of global-local best values of the objective function. These global-local best inertia weight （GLBestlW） and global-local best acceleration coefficient （GLBestAC） are incorporated into PSO in order to compute the optimal power flow solution. The proposed method has been tested on the standard IEEE 30 bus test system to prove its efficacy. The results are compared with those obtained through cPSO. It is observed that the proposed algorithm is computationally faster, in terms of the number of load flows executed and provides better results than the conventional heuristic techniques.
