This study aims at investigating errors which occur in the subtitling of discourse markers from English into Arabic in the subtitles of two movies,Wonder and ***,this study investigates the subtitling of five discourse markers,namely,well,yeah,you know,so,and oh by two movie websites,Netflix and *** findings reveal that two major errors occurred in the subtitles of the two movies,which are omission and wrong *** findings also show that omission occurred more frequently than wrong equivalence when subtitling these five discourse markers from English into Arabic.

Objective and Impact *** of blood vessels from two-photon microscopy(2PM)angiograms of brains has important applications in hemodynamic analysis and disease ***,we develop a generalizable deep learning technique for accurate 2PM vascular segmentation of sizable regions in mouse brains acquired from multiple 2PM *** technique is computationally efficient,thus ideal for large-scale neurovascular *** segmentation from 2PM angiograms is an important first step in hemodynamic modeling of brain *** segmentation methods based on deep learning either lack the ability to generalize to data from different imaging systems or are computationally infeasible for large-scale *** this work,we overcome both these limitations by a method that is generalizable to various imaging systems and is able to segment large-scale *** employ a computationally efficient deep learning framework with a loss function that incorporates a balanced binary-cross-entropy loss and total variation regularization on the network’s *** effectiveness is demonstrated on experimentally acquired in vivo angiograms from mouse brains of dimensions up to 808×808×702μ*** demonstrate the superior generalizability of our framework,we train on data from only one 2PM microscope and demonstrate high-quality segmentation on data from a different microscope without any network ***,our method demonstrates 10×faster computation in terms of voxels-segmented-per-second and 3×larger depth compared to the *** work provides a generalizable and computationally efficient anatomical modeling framework for brain vasculature,which consists of deep learning-based vascular segmentation followed by *** paves the way for future modeling and analysis of hemodynamic response at much greater scales that were inaccessible before.

Usual response of organism to viral or bacterial invasion represents antibodies production, qualitative and quantitative changes in composition of biological fluids. These changes influence conformation and surface characteristics of macromolecules (proteins), which become apparent in sessile drying drops, when they form aggregates due to salting-out effect and sediment. The bottom adsorption layers change their adhesive and viscoelastic properties in time depending on fluid composition and structure. The aim of this study was verification the idea of using this phenomenon in rapid vet diagnostics. Milk, blood and serum samples of 183 cows were tested using Drop Drying Technology (DDT). A drop of tested fluid dried on a polished quartz plate, oscillated with constant frequency—60 kHz. Mechanical properties of the drop changed during drying, influenced the electrical conductivity of the quartz plate. This signal was converted to the Acoustical- Mechanical Impedance (AMI) and displayed as a curve in coordinates AMI vs. Time. Shape of the AMI curve reflected this dynamics, and was used as a target for quantitative comparison between control and infected animals. Frequency analysis of the estimated parameters of the curves was performed using features of the Excel program. Powerful method of artificial neural network processing of the experimental data was also tested in this work as a possible tool for future development. Significant differences between control, Bovine leucosis virus positive (BLV+) and Bovine tuberculin positive (BTub+) cattle groups were obtained using all biological fluids—blood, serum and milk. We fixed also a season shift of the data, but distinction between groups still remained. In serum and milk some features of the AMI curves were more stable, and retained diagnostic properties when combined winter and spring databases. Further development of DDT is proposed.

母语背景深刻限制了汉语母语者的英语字母-语音整合。但是,目前尚不清楚沉浸式学习经验是否可以帮助汉语母语者的大脑克服母语背景的限制从而成功进行英语字母-语音整合。本研究采用跨通道MMN范式比较了有着英语第二语言沉浸经验的汉语母语者(沉浸式英语学习者)、没有英语第二语言沉浸经验的汉语母语者(非沉浸式英语学习者)和英语母语者的英语字母-语音整合。结果发现,沉浸式学习经验可以有效促进汉语母语者的英语语音感知。而且,沉浸式英语学习者和英语母语者都表现出增强的跨通道MMN,这表明沉浸式学习经验可以帮助汉语母语者像英语母语者那样成功整合英语字母-语音。本研究进一步发现,沉浸式环境中英语听和说的口语经验对沉浸式英语学习者的字母-语音整合非常重要。

Doi:10.1038/s41587-022-01408-w.)报道,瑞典林雪平大学的研究人员开发了一种生物工程角膜(BPCDX),这一新型角膜由猪皮肤的胶原蛋白制成,不仅能够批量生产,而且能够有效地改善视障人士的角膜厚度和曲率,还成功帮助失明患者重见光明。据世界卫生组织统计,全球至少22亿人视力受损或失明,截至2022年,中国的视障群体超过1 700万,其中超过800万人完全失明。然而,目前失明人士恢复视力的唯一方法是接受捐赠者的角膜移植,由于供体稀缺、医疗费用昂贵,中国国内每年实施的角膜移植手术不足1万例。

准确和敏感地感知到环境的声音对个体的日常生活很重要,因为它有助于个体对环境做出快速的反应并避免潜在的风险。但是,目前尚不清楚不同母语背景的双语学习经验是否以及如何影响个体环境声音感知的大脑反应。本研究比较了汉-英双语者、西班牙-英语双语者和英语母语者对环境声音感知的大脑反应,并进一步探讨了其加工机制。本研究未发现英语母语者和两组双语者在环境声音感知方面的差异,但是却发现,与西班牙-英语双语者相比,汉-英双语者表现出显著更大的失匹配负波(mismatch negativity,MMN),这表明汉-英双语者对环境声音的感知比西班牙-英语双语者更敏感。此外,与西班牙-英语双语者相比,汉-英双语者表现出显著更大的theta振荡,而且,汉-英双语者的theta振荡与MMN显著相关,这表明汉-英双语经验在环境声音感知方面的优势可能是由于其自上而下的认知能力增强所致。总之,本研究的发现表明,与西班牙-英语双语者相比,汉-英双语者通过增强自上而下的认知加工机制调节了其在环境声音感知方面的加工优势。
