Optimized sintering and mechanical properties of y-TZP ceramics for dental restorations by adding lithium disilicate glass ceramics

The novel dental ceramics can be fabricated at lower temperatures when sol-gel derived lithium disilicate glass ceramics(LDGC)was used as an additive for yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline(y-TZP)*** effect of LDGC on the sintering,mechanical,and translucent properties of y-TZP ceramics was investigated in the present *** results showed that the LDGC additive effectively improved the densification of y-TZP at 1100℃,which was much lower than the sintering temperature for pure *** sintered at 1100℃,the y-TZP with 1 wt%LDGC reached a relative density of 95.45%,and prossessed a flexural strength of 482.4 MPa and a fracture toughness of 5.94 ***,its translucency was also ***,the addition of LDGC could result in an escape of yttrium atoms from the grain lattice of zirconia,which induced the tetragonal-monoclinic transformation of zirconia and abnormal growth of monoclinic *** escaped yttrium atoms diffused into the intergranular glass *** results indicated that the novel y-TZP-LDGC ceramics has a great potential to be used for all-ceramic restorations.

Exploration of novel genetic resources against root-knot nematode(RKn)is necessary to strengthen the resistance breeding program in cultivated rice,and investigations on the role of genotype-specific root anatomy in conferring a structural barrier against nematode invasion are largely ***,we reported a highly-resistant rice germplasm Phule Radha that conferred remarkably lower RKn parasitic fitness in terms of reduced penetration and delayed development and reproduction when compared with susceptible cultivar *** histological and biochemical analyses,we demonstrated that an enhanced suberin deposition in the exodermal root tip tissue of Phule Radha compared to PB1121 can effectively form a penetrative barrier against RKn infection,and this preformed barrier in the control tissue did not necessarily alter to a greater extent when challenged with RKn *** qRT-PCR analysis,we showed that a number of suberin biosynthesis genes were greatly expressed in the exodermis of Phule Radha compared to *** sum,the present study established the role of rice exodermal barrier system in defense against an important soil-borne pathogen.

Discharge water temperature assessment of thermal power plantusing remote sensing techniques

Thermal power plants are generally constructed near to sea coast to meet their requirement of coolingwater. The warm water discharge from the thermal power plant is one of the major environmentalconcerns in view of the thermal pollution in the sea water. The temperature limit for the warm waterdischarge from the thermal power plant has to be monitored and controlled. Coastal Gujarat PowerLimited (CGPL) operates (24×7) at an “once-through system” based sea water circulation for powergeneration. The used sea water is then discharged into the sea through an outlet channel. As per environmental norms, the discharge water temperature needs to be maintained below the stipulated “delta”rise (+7 ℃) with respect to ambient sea surface temperature at the inlet. We demonstrate the applicability of thermal remote sensing data in understanding the seasonal and temporal variations of thetemperature difference between the discharge water and the ambient sea water. We used thermal banddata from Landsat-8 satellite imagery to map water surface temperature and create temperature profilesalong the intake and outflow channels (till the sea), to understand the variation of temperature andestimate the “DT” between intake point and various observation points along the outflow. This analysiswas carried out for all 11 months (except June) of the year 2018 to correlate temperature variations withseasonal changes. Tidal conditions during the time of data acquisition were also considered to accountfor the effect of tides on DT. The result shows that the average temperature rise between intake andoutflow are maintained at ~3 ℃ across all the months of 2018, with minor variations in the months ofJuly and August. Further, average temperature drop from outflow to cooling channel (before diaphragm)is seen to be ~2 ℃ across all the months with similar seasonal fluctuations.

In the context of isogeometric analysis(IGA)of shell structures,the popularity of the solid-shell elements benefit from formulation simplicity and full 3D stress *** some basic questions remain unresolved when using solid-shell element,especially for large deformation cases with patch coupling,which is a common scene in real-life *** this research,after introduction of the solid-shell nonlinear formulation and a fundamental 3D model construction method,we present a non-symmetric variant of the standardnitsche’s formulation for multi-patch coupling in associationwith an empirical formula for its stabilization *** selective and reduced integration scheme is also presented to address the locking *** addition,the quasi-newton iteration format is derived as solver,together with a step length control *** second order derivatives are totally neglected by the adoption of the non-symmetric nitsche’s formulation and the quasi-newton *** solid-shell elements are numerically studied by a linear elastic plate example,then we demonstrate the performance of the proposed formulation in large deformation,in terms of result verification,iteration history and continuity of displacement across the coupling interface.

High-Speed Friction Stir Welding of T6-Treated B4Cp/6061Al Composite

T6-treated 20 wt% B4 Cp/6061 Al sheets were joined under welding speeds of 400–1200 mm/min by friction stir welding(FSW) with a threaded cermet pin. The macro-defect-free FSW joints could be achieved at high welding speeds up to 1200 mm/min, but larger plunge depth was required at the welding speeds of 800 and 1200 mm/min to eliminate the tunnel defect. In the nugget zone(nZ) of the joints, the B4 C particles were broken up and uniformly redistributed. The nZ exhibited lower hardness than the base metal(BM), and the hardness value almost did not change with increasing welding speed, attributable to the dissolution of precipitates. Compared with the BM, the joints showed lower tensile strength. As the welding speed increased from 400 to 800 mm/min, the joint efficiencies were nearly the same and up to ~ 73%. When the welding speed increased up to 1200 mm/min, the tensile strength significantly decreased, due to the occurrence of kissing bond defect at the bottom of the nZ. With increasing welding speed, the fracture location of the joints transferred gradually from the heat-affected zone to the nZ due to the kissing bond defects.

Broom grass(Thysanolaena maxima)is an evergreen non-timber forest produce *** grass is now domesticated for cultivation by *** is a multi-purpose grass providing mainly inflorescence used as brooms for cleaning every household and also fodder for cattle,fuel wood for cooking and thus enhance farmers *** earlier pot culture study brought out that Claroideoglomus etunicatum as the best arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus(AMF)and Pantoea dispersa as the best plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)for inoculating broom *** the present investigation,a pot culture experiment was conducted in glasshouse to study the effect of individual and combined inoculation of *** and *** on the growth of broom *** plant height,stem girth,biovolume index,plant dry weight,major and minor nutrient concentrations were significantly higher in plants inoculated with ***+*** compared to inoculation with either of *** was concluded that dual inoculation with the two selected beneficial microorganisms is best for enhancing the growth and yield of broom grass which in turn will improve the livelihood of the farmers.

Viscous dissipation of Rankine vortex profile in zero meridional flow

An analytical solution is given for a time-decay Rankine vortex profile due to viscous effects. The vortex filament is assumed to be isolated, strong, concentrated and having zero-meridional flow （i.e. radial and axial velocities are equal to zero）. Zero-meridional renders the governing equations for an unsteady, incompressible and axisymmetric vortex in a simple form. Based on the tangential momentum equation, the spatial-temporal distributions of the swirl velocity are given in terms of Fourier-Bessel series by using separation of variables technique. A general formula is derived by total differentiation of the swirl velocity with respect to time, depicting the viscous dissipation for Oseen and Taylor-like vortex profiles. This analysis is validated by comparison with previous experimental data.

Parallel Comparison of the 1982/83,1997/98 and 2015/16 Super El nios and Their Effects on the Extratropical Stratosphere

This study uses multiple sea surface temperature （SST） datasets to perform a parallel comparison of three super El nifios and their effects on the stratosphere. The results show that, different from ordinary El nifios, warm SST anomalies appear earliest in the western tropical Pacific and precede the super El nifio peak by more than 18 months. In the previous winter, relative to the mature phase of El nifio, as a precursor, north Pacific Oscillation-like circulation anomalies are observed. A Pacific-north America （PnA） teleconnection appears in the extratropical troposphere during the mature phase, in spite of the subtle differences between the intensities, as well as the zonal position, of the PnA lobes. Related to the negative rainfall response over the tropical Indian Ocean, the PnA teleconnection in the winter of 1997/98 is the strongest among the three super El nifios. The northern winter stratosphere shows large anomalies in the polar cap temperature and the circumpolar westerly, if the interferences from other factors are linearly filtered from the circulation data. Associated with the positive PnA response in a super El nino winter, positive polar cap temperature anomalies and circumpolar easterly anomalies, though different in timing, are also observed in the mature winters of the three super El nifios. The stratospheric polar vortex in the next winter relative to the 1982/83 and 1997/98 events is also anomalously weaker and warmer, and the stratospheric circulation conditions remain to be seen in the coming winter following the mature phase of the 2015/16 event.
