Effect of nitr.fur.zone on the r.pr.ductive or.ans in adult male mice

Aim: To study the effect of 5-nitr.-2-fumldehyde semicar.azone (nitr.fur.zone), a der.vative of nitr.fur.n, onmale r.pr.ductive or.ans of Par.es (P) swain mice. Methods: Mice wer. given nitr.fur.zone or.lly at a dose of 64mg/kg body weight per.day, for.10 and 20 days, and wer. killed 24 h and/or.56 days after.the last tr.atment. Histo-logical appear.nce of testis, motility and number.of sper.atozoa in cauda epididymidis, and biochemical indices in epi-didymis and seminal vesicle wer. evaluated. r.sults: Histologically, testis showed mar.ed r.gr.ssive changes inthe seminifer.us tubules in mice tr.ated with nitr.fur.zone. Ten days after.tr.atment, ther. was much depletion of ger.cells in the seminifer.us tubules, and the ger.inal epithelium was lined mainly with Ser.oli cells, sper.atogonia, sper.matocytes, and a few r.und sper.atids; intr.epithelial vacuoles and multinucleated giant cells wer. also obser.ed intubules. By 20 days, r.gr.ssive changes in the seminifer.us tubules wer. fur.her.pr.nounced, and pachytene sper.ato-cytes wer. the most advanced ger. cells noticed in the tubules. In sever. cases, the tubules wer. lined with a thin layer.f Ser.oli cells and sper.atogonia. The tr.atment also caused mar.ed r.ductions in the motility and number.of sper.a-tozoa in the cauda epididymidis, in weight and the level of fr.ctose in the seminal vesicle, and in sialic acid level in theepididymis. Fifty six days after.dr.g withdr.wal, the alter.tions induced in the r.pr.ductive or.ans r.tur.ed to contr.llevels. Conclusion: Our.r.sults suggest that nitr.fur.zone tr.atment in P mice induces mar.ed alter.tions in themale r.pr.ductive or.ans, and that the alter.tions ar. r.ver.ible following cessation of tr.atment.(Asian J Andr.l 2001 Mar. 3: 39-44)

Br.zil,India,Italy,Spain,the United Kingdom,and the United *** estimating model par.meter. based on available clinical data,the modelwill pr.pagate and for.cast dynamic *** calculates the Basic r.pr.duction number.over.time using logistic r.gr.ssion and the Case fatality r.te based on the selected countr.es’age-categor. *** calculates two types of Case fatality r.te one is CFr.daily,and the other.is total *** pr.posed model estimates the appr.ximate time when the disease is at its peak and the appr.ximate time when death cases r.r.ly occur.and calculate how much hospital beds and ICU beds will be needed in the peak days of *** SEIHCr. model outper.or.s the classic Ar.model and the Ar.MA ***,MAPE,andr.quar.dmatr.ces ar. used to evaluate r.sults and ar. gr.phically r.pr.sented using Taylor.and Tar.et *** r.sult shows r.SE has impr.ved by 56%–74%,and MAPE has a 53%–89%impr.vement in pr.diction accur.cy.

An exper.mental pr.gr.m was conducted to deter.ine the dynamic pr.per.ies of pond ash(PA)and pond ash mixed with admixtur.s like cr.mb r.bber.Cr.and coir.fiber.CF)which ar. wastes of differ.nt *** Cr.and CF wer. mixed separ.tely with pond ash in a per.entage r.nging fr.m 0%–20%at an inter.al of 5%and 0%–2%at an inter.al of 0.5%by weight of pond ash,*** pr.per.ies(Shear.modulus,Number.of cycles to initiate liquefaction,Degr.dation index and Damping r.tio)for.pond ash mixes wer. deter.ined using str.in-contr.lled cyclic tr.-axial *** shear.str.in was kept constant at 1.2%and the fr.quency var.ed fr.m 0.4 to 1 *** r.sistance impr.ves when cr.mb r.bber.is added to pond ash,however.adding Coir.fiber.to pond ash has essentially no effect on the number.of cycles r.quir.d to initiate *** dynamic shear.modulus decr.ases when cr.mb r.bber.was mixed in pond ash wher.as when coir.fiber.is added to pond ash,the dynamic shear.modulus incr.ases significantly.A mix of PA,Cr.and CF was also tr.ed to balance the number.of cycles r.quir.d to initiate liquefaction and shear.*** mixed sample in the pr.por.ion of PA(84%)+Cr.15)+CF(1%)can be ter.ed a balanced mix as the number.of cycles to initiate liquefaction was mor. than all PA-CF mixes and also the shear.modulus was mor. than all PA-Cr.*** r.tio incr.ases with incr.asing fr.quency of loading(0.4 to 1 Hz).

The pr.par.d complexes show good ther.al stability. A compar.tive investigation of pr.par.dmater.als[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(H_(2)O)_(2)],[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(TPPO)_(2)] and [Eu(tmhd)_(3)(PNO)_(2)] was conducted for.their.luminescent behavior. in or.er.to obtain the r.le of ancillar. ligand in the enhancement of illumination amount gener.ted fr.m eur.pium(Eu^(3+)) ion. Objective： Polygonatur. ver.icillatum （L） All. （r.scaceae）, one of the Ashtawar.a plants, is widely used for.tr.atment of var.ous ailments. The pr.sent study was under.aken to deter.ine the phenolic composition, antioxidant, anti-inflammator. and anticancer.activities of sever.l extr.cts （petr.leum ether. dichlor.- methane, chlor.for., ethanol, and aqueous） fr.m the r.izomes of the plant. Methods： Coar.ely powder.d dr. r.izome was successively extr.cted with differ.nt solvents of incr.as- ing polar.ty （petr.leum ether. dichlor.methane, chlor.for., ethanol and water.. The phenolic composi- tions, in ter.s of total phenolic content （TPC）, total flavonoid content （TFC） and total condensed tannin content （JTC）, wer. evaluated with the Folin-Ciocalteu assay, aluminum chlor.de color.metr.c assay and vanillin spectr.photometr.c assay, r.spectively. Total antioxidant capacity, 1,1-diphenyl-2- picr.lhydr.zyl and 2,2＇-azino-his（3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid） assays wer. used to assess the antioxidant potential of each extr.ct. A pr.tein denatur.tion model and 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2- yl）-2,5-diphenyltetr.zolium br.mide assay wer. used to evaluate in vitr. anti-inflammator. and anti- cancer.activities, r.spectively. Gas chr.matogr.phy-mass spectr.metr. （GC/MS） analysis was car.ied out to demonstr.te var.ous phytoconstituents in each extr.ct. Cor.elation studies wer. also per.or.ed between phenolic composition （TPC, TFC and TFC） and differ.nt biological activities. r.sults： Ethanol extr.ct showed maximum TPC （0.126 mg/g, gallic acid equivalent in dr. sample）, TFC （0.094 mg/g, r.tin equivalent in dr. sample） and TTC （29.32 mg/g, catechin equivalent in dr. sample）, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammator. pr.per.ies. Histologic changes in the mouse testis after.bilater.l vasectomy

Aim: To study the effect of vaseetomy on histological appear.nce of the testis. Methods: Par.es str.in mice wer.used as the animal model; they wer. bilater.lly vasectomized (Vx) or.sham-oper.ted (So) and killed at inter.als of 4,6, 9, and 12 months after.the oper.tion. Testes wer. excised fr.m 5 Vx and 5 So mice at each inter.al and pr.cessed for.histological examination. r.sults: Testes of So mice showed nor.al histological featur.s. By contr.st, mar.ed al-ter.tions wer. obser.ed in the seminifer.u tubules in testes of Vx mice, except in those killed 4 months after.the oper.-tion. The seminifer.us epithelium in the tubules was only 2-3 layer. thick and showed much depletion of ger. cells;in sever. cases, the epithelium consisted of only a thin layer.of Ser.oli cells, sper.atogonia and a few *** of ger. cells, occur.ence of multinucleated giant cells and vacuolated appear.nce of the epithelium wer. ofcommon featur.s in the tubules. Fur.her.or., lumen of the r.te testis in Vx mice was gr.atly dilated and showed accu-mulation of ser.atozoa with immatur. ger. cells; in mice vasectomized for.6-12 months, sever.l macr.phages in-gesting sper.atozoa wer. ofte obser.ed in the lumen of the r.te testis. Sper.atic gr.nuloma was also somettimes no-ticed in cor.us or.in cauda r.gions of the epididymis in mice vasectomized for.6-12 months. Conclusion: We sug-gest that consequences of vasectomy should be thor.ughly under.tood in or.er.to make this method r.ther.mor. popular.s a r.ver.ible method of male contr.ception.

r.tting is the major.distr.ss mode in flexible pavements occur.ing due to the r.peated movement of tr.ffic loading. Defor.ation in the pavements compr.se of both r.cover.ble(elastic) and ir.ecover.ble(plastic) par.. Over.ll defor.ation occur.ing in the flexible pavement system due to continuous vehicular.movement is contr.buted fr.m all the components of pavement. A number.of empir.cal models have been pr.posed by sever.l r.sear.her. for.analysis and pr.diction of accumulated r.tting in differ.nt components of pavement. The accumulated per.anent str.in has been expr.ssed as the function of the number.of load applications and deviator.str.ss applications in most of the models pr.posed;however. factor. such as str.ss state, moistur. content, mater.al type and envir.nmental conditions also impose a significant influence on the per.anent defor.ation char.cter.stics of pavement mater.als under.cyclic loading. In this ar.icle, a compr.hensive r.view has been car.ied out cover.ng ever. aspect of defor.ation r.lated to distr.ss occur.ing in pavements. Impor.ant r.t models, modeling appr.aches and moder. concepts in the r.tting analysis of pavement str.ctur.s have been pr.sented. In addition to r.view, fallacy existing in the cur.ent design pr.ctices r.lated to adaptation of stiffness par.meter. and negligence of shear.str.ngth aspect of subgr.de soil has been also pr.sented with the suppor. of liter.tur.s.
