BAcKGrOUND Total hip arthroplasty(THA)is a common procedure for end stage *** learning curve for THA is complex and *** of the most difficult skills to master is acetabular *** wish to identify if experience in arthroplasty leads to preservation of more bone *** To investigate if increasing surgeon experience will predict an ever decreasing acetabular cup *** A retrospective case series of four attending orthopaedic surgeons was *** uncemented elective total hip arthroplasties since appointment were selected for *** size of acetabular cup used was noted and logistic regression was used to identify if a trend to smaller cups *** A total of 1614 subjects were included with a mean age of 64 *** cups were on average 0.18mm smaller per year(95%confidence interval-0.25 to-0.11,Prgeon trends showed cup sizes to decrease 0.27 mm/year for surgeon A,0.02 mm/year for surgeon B,0.15 mm/year for surgeon c and 0.29 mm/year for surgeon *** of the four surgeons had a more pronounced trend to smaller cups for male subjects than their female *** We found increasing surgeon experience to be associated with an ever-decreasing acetabular cup *** acetabular cup size may act as a surrogate marker of surgical proficiency by virtue of decreased acetabular reaming.

A derivative-free frame-based conjugate gradients algorithm is presented. convergence is shown for c^1 functions, and this is verified in numerical trials. The algorithm is tested on a variety of low dimensional problems, some of which are ill-conditioned, and is also tested on problems of high dimension. Numerical results show that the algorithm is effective on both classes of problems. The results are compared with those from a discrete quasiNewton method, showing that the conjugate gradients algorithm is competitive. The algorithm exhibits the conjugate gradients speed-up on problems for which the Hessian at the solution has repeated or clustered eigenvalues. The algorithm is easily parallelizable.

considering the large number of returns in online sales and the network externalities of e-platforms,we develop a decentralized model and a centralized model to explore the impacts of returns and network externalities on e-commerce supply chain(EcSc)*** show that in the decentralized model,the service level,price,market demand,and EcSc members’profits increase with the network externality ***,the service level and price increase,while the market demand and EcSc members’profits decrease with the product return *** centralized model is the optimal operating mode when it is properly *** design the“commission and return cost-sharing”contract to optimize EcSc,in which the proportion of the e-platform’s sharing of the return handling cost is exactly equal to the proportion of the system profit after *** on the decentralized model,we develop two extended models in which we endogenize the impacts of the service level and return rate on the network externality *** comparisons between the extended and decentralized models,we show that high-quality service can improve EcSc’s profitability,while a high return rate hurts its economic performance.

Methane dehydroaromatization was studied over Mo/SiO2 and Mo/HZSM-5 with different Mo loadings(2, 5, 10 wt%) at 973 K and 1023 K in a recirculating batch reactor. H2 pretreatment at 1023 K prior to methane activation has significantly improved the catalyst activity with increase in Mo loading and reduced the induction time on benzene formation in both Mo/SiO2 and Mo/HZSM-5. 10 wt% Mo/HZSM-5 gave a maximum methane conversion of 19% and ~67% benzene selectivity at 1023 K. The XrD analysis of used catalysts revealed that the Mo O3 species were converted to β-Mo2c phase. Studies on Mo/SiO2 catalysts showed that benzene was formed even in the absence of acidic zeolite sites. reactions of ethylene in the presence of pure silica, HZSM-5 and in a blank reactor revealed that conversion of ethylene to aromatics was similar in case of the blank reactor and silica. Thus, it is believed that molybdenum carbide sites act as active sites only for c–H bond activation of methane and ethylene formation. Even though, ethylene can undergo subsequent oligomerization without any catalytic aid to form benzene at973 K and above addition of acidic zeolites improved the selectivity of benzene.
