Tong-xin-luo capsule inhibits left ventricular remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats by enhancing PPAR-γ expression and suppressing NF-κB activity

Background Tong-xin-luo capsule （TXL）, used as a traditional Chinese herb, offeres a therapeutic potential for treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It has been shown to exert a variety of pharmacological effects, including antihypertensive effects, and is able to improve ventricular remodeling. However, the mechanisms of its action are not completely understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate the molecular mechanisms of Tong-xin-luo capsule on left ventricular remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats （SHR）. Methods Sixteen eight-week-old SHRs were randomized into an SHR group （n=8） and a TXL group （n=8） that were given Tong-xin-luo capsule （1.5 mg·kg^-1·d^-1）. Eight Wistar Kyoto （WKY） rats fed with 0.9% NaCl served as the control group （WKY group）. Systolic blood pressure （BP）, body weight and heart rate were monitored once every two weeks. Ventricular remodeling was detected by histopathological examination. Nuclear factor kappa B P65 （NF-κB P65） and peroxisome proliferators activated receptor y （PPAR-γ） protein and phosphorylated inhibitor kappa a （IκBα） protein were detected by immunohistochemistry and western blot respectively. The physical interaction of the P65-P50 heterodimer with IκBα and NF-κB were measured by co-immunoprecipitation. PPAR-γ mRNA, collagen Ⅰ mRNA and collagen Ⅲ mHNA were measured by real-time PCR.Results TXL inhibited NF-κB P65 expression and ventricular remodeling and suppressed the activation of NF-κB compared with the SHR group （P〈0.01, P〈0.05）. TXL reduced IκBα phosphorylation, increased expression of PPAR-γ protein and enhanced the physical interaction of the P65-P50 heterodimer with IκBα. The mRNA expression of PPAR-γ was enhanced but the mRNA expression of collagen Ⅰ mRNA and collagen Ⅲ mRNA were suppressed by TXL. Risk factors and pain status due to diabetic neuropathy in chronic long-term diabetic patients in a Chinese urban population

Background With economic growth and urbanization there have been significant changes in the life style and diet of urban residents in large cities of China, which is experiencing a rapid increase in the prevalence of diabetes. While high prevalence of diabetes has been reported, little is known of the long-term effects of diabetes in such a large population. The aim of this study was to estimate the morbidity rate of diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN） in a Chinese urban diabetic population with more than 10 years＇ disease duration, and evaluate the relevant risk factors. The clinical manifestation of DPN and pain status was also assessed. Methods Five hundred and sixty-five diabetes patients were recruited into the study. Symptoms and examination helped diagnose neuropathy. The clinical manifestation of DPN was assessed with a visual analog pain score （VAS）. Diabetic complication status was determined from medical records. Serum lipids and lipoproteins, glycosylated hemoglobin （HbAlc）, and the urinary albumin excretion rate were measured. Results The morbidity rate of DPN was 46.6%. HbAlc, hyperlipidemia, and retinopathy were significantly associated with neuropathy, and these risk factors were correlated with other diabetic micro and/or macrovascular complications. The average VAS pain score of the DPN patients was 4.12＋2.07. Severe and moderate pain was experienced by 11.4% and 40.5% respectively of DPN patients. About 3.7% of diabetic subjects had lower limb ulcer or amputation. Conclusions The morbidity rate of DPN for diabetic patients with 〉10 years duration is very high compared to the range reported for other populations in the world. The risk factors for DPN include HbAlc, hyperlipidemia, and retinopathy. In long-standing diabetic patients, DPN was not associated with diabetic duration, and half of the DPN patients experienced considerable daily suffering.

The thermodynamic properties of charged particles,such as the energy density,pressure,entropy density,particle density,and squared speed of sound at the kinetic freeze-out in the Au+Au collisions from the relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC)beam energy scan program √S_(NN) and in the Cu+Cu collisions at √S_(NN),200 GeV are studied using the thermodynamically consistent Tsallis *** energy density,pressure,and particle density decrease monotonically with the collision energy for the same collision centrality;These properties also decrease monotonically from the central to peripheral collisions at the same collision *** the scaled energy densityε∕T^(4) and scaled entropy density s∕T^(3) demonstrate the opposite trend with the collision energy for the same collision *** is a correlation betweenε∕T^(4) and s∕T^(3) at the same *** addition,the squared speed of sound was calculated to determine that all the collision energies share nearly the same value at different collision centralities.

An Estimation of Internal Soliton Forces on a Pile in the Ocean

Internal soliton forces on oil-platform piles in the ocean are estimated with the Morison Formula. Different from sur- face wave forces, which change only in magnitude along a pile, internal soliton forces can be distributed over the entire pile in the water and they change not only in magnitude but also in direction with depth. Our calculations show that the maximum total force caused by a soliton with its associated current of 2.1 m s-1 is nearly equal to the maximum total force exerted by a surface wave with a wavelength of 300 m and a wave-height of 18 m. The total internal soliton force is large enough to affect the operations of marine oil platforms and other facilities. Therefore, the influence of internal solitons should not be neglected in the design of oil platforms.

目的确定口腔鳞状细胞癌(OSCC)患者手术后发生疾病复发的独立危险因素,构建预测复发的回归模型并初步评估。方法回顾性分析2019年于青岛大学附属医院接受根治性手术的OSCC患者的临床及病理资料,并进行术后随访。通过单因素和多因素Cox回归模型分析患者术后复发的危险因素并构建个体预后指数模型,确定最佳截断点,并依此分成低危组和高危组。结果共纳入161例患者,其中男108例、女53例,年龄27~85岁,3年无瘤生存率为63.5%。单因素分析显示身高质量指数、白蛋白、口腔卫生、临床分期、肿瘤分化、脉管癌栓、神经侵犯、T分期、N分期及行术后辅助治疗对预后的影响显著(均P<0.05),年龄、性别、吸烟史、饮酒史、牙列缺失、颈部淋巴结清扫及肌肉浸润对术后复发的影响不显著。多因素分析显示白蛋白水平低、临床分期Ⅳ期、分化程度较差、存在脉管癌栓、术后未行辅助治疗是术后复发的独立危险因素(均P<0.05)。预后指数模型区分的低危组与高危组预后不同(P<0.05),并可以较好地区分患者术后复发的危险程度。结论白蛋白水平、临床分期、分化程度、脉管癌栓及术后辅助治疗与术后复发风险密切相关,是术后复发的独立危险因素。预后指数模型可以为临床工作提供一定参考,注意对高危患者的密切随访,早期发现潜在转移。

Chemical characterization of submicron particles during typical air pollution episodes in spring over Beijing

Beijing experienced a long-lasting pollution episode in April 2012. Here, the authors characterize the sources and evolution processes of the pollution, with a focus on a haze and a dust episode that occurred during 15-30 April. All submicron aerosol species （PM1） showed substantial increases during the haze episode （HE）, with nitrate being the largest, contributing on average 32.2% of the non-refractory PM;（NR-PM1） mass （maximum： -42.0%）, which was different from other seasons. Secondary inorganic aerosol （SIA） species （55.1 ± 23.8 lag m-3; SIA = nitrate, ammonium, sulfate） played enhanced roles in the haze formation, accounting for 66.5% of the total NR-PM1 mass. In contrast to the HE, organics exhibited their highest levels （8.9 ± 5.4 lag m-3） among the NR-PM aerosol species during the dust episode, accounting for 64.0% on average. SIAs exhibited low concentration levels （4.6 ± 4.2 μg m-3） during the dust episode, contributing only 34.0% to the total NR-PM1 mass. This study suggests that air quality improvement strategies should be designed according to aerosol particle characteristics and formation mechanisms.

The Relationships between Erythrocyte Membrane n-6 to n-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Ratio and Blood Lipids and C-reactive Protein in Chinese Adults:An Observational Study

Objective To investigate the relationships between erythrocyte membrane n-6：n-3 PUFAs ratio and blood lipids and high sensitivity C-reactive protein （hs-CRP）. Methods The Chinese and a observational study consisted of a population-based cross-sectiona subsequent 1-year follow-up study of 171 subjects with the fasting cholesterol of 5.13-8.00 mmol/L. study of 456 plasma total Results In the cross-sectional analysis, plasma low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-c） had a significant and negative association with the erythrocyte membrane n-6：n-3 PUFAs ratio （P for trend=0.019） after adjusting for sex, age and total PUFA percentage. In the follow-up study, 171 subjects were categorized into quartiles by the changes of n-6：n-3 ratio in erythrocyte membrane （△=month 12-month 0）. In the top quartile whose ratios of n-6：n-3 increased by an average of 1.25 during the follow-up, the LDL-c-lowering extent was 3.3 times of that in the lowest quartile whose ratios of n-6：n-3 decreased by an average of 1.13 （-1.07 mmol/L v.s. -0.32 mmol/L）. The hsCRP decreased by 0.11 mg/dL in the lowest quartile while increasing by 0.10 mg/dL in the top quartile （P for difference=0.052）. Conclusion Our results suggested that the balance between n-6 and n-3 fatty acids may optimize the cardiovascular benefits from dietary PUFAs.

为了协调推进全国及各重大战略区域的减排降碳工作,加快实现碳达峰和碳中和的目标,通过碳核算技术指南法对区域电力消费碳排放量进行核算,并应用泰尔指数分析区域间的碳排放差异.在此基础上,使用三维非参数核密度估计法研究区域电力消费碳排放量的动态演变特征,并通过变异系数和空间面板模型进行σ收敛和绝对β收敛分析.研究以甘肃省为例,结果表明,甘肃省电力消费碳排放总体呈上升趋势,同时各地区之间的差异逐渐减小;在动态演进方面,随着时间推移区域内部的两极分化特征整体趋于减弱,差异化程度逐渐降低;在收敛特性方面,各时间尺度下均不存在σ收敛,但均存在绝对β收敛.
