SDGSAT-1,the world's first science satellite dedicated to assisting the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda,has been operational for over two and a half *** provides valuable data to aid in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals *** its Open Science Program,the satellite has maintained consistent operations and delivered free data to scientific and technological users from 88 *** program has produced a wealth of scientific output,with 72 papers,including 28 on data processing methods and 44 on applications for monitoring progress toward SDGs related to sustainable cities,clean energy,life underwater,climate action,and clean water and ***-1 is equipped with three key instruments:a multispectral imager,a thermal infrared spectrometer,and a glimmer imager,which have enabled ground-breaking research in a variety of domains such as water quality analysis,identification of industrial heat sources,assessment of environmental disaster impacts,and detection of forest *** precise measurements and ongoing monitoring made possible by this invaluable data significantly advance our understanding of various environmental *** are essential for making well-informed decisions on a local and global *** its application to academic research,SDGSAT-1 promotes global cooperation and strengthens developing countries'capacity to accomplish their sustainable development *** the satellite continues to gather and distribute data,it plays a pivotal role in developing strategies for environmental protection,disaster management and relief,and resource *** initiatives highlight the satellite's vital role in fostering international collaboration and technical innovation to advance scientific knowledge and promote a sustainable future.

PLK1 phosphorylation of ZW10 guides accurate chromosome segregation in mitosis

A 128×128 SPAD LiDAR sensor with column-parallel 25 ps resolution TA-ADCs

This paper presents a design of single photon avalanche diode(SPAD)light detection and ranging(LiDAR)sensor with 128×128 pixels and 128 column-parallel time-to-analog-merged-analog-to-digital converts(TA-ADCs).Unlike the conventional TAC-based SPAD LiDAR sensor,in which the TAC and ADC are separately implemented,we propose to merge the TAC and ADC by sharing their capacitors,thus avoiding the analog readout noise of TAC’s output buffer,improving the conversion rate,and reducing chip *** reverse start-stop logic is employed to reduce the power of the *** in a 180 nm CMOS process,our prototype sensor exhibits a timing resolution of 25 ps,a DNL of+0.30/−0.77 LSB,an INL of+1.41/−2.20 LSB,and a total power consumption of 190 mW.A flash LiDAR system based on this sensor demonstrates the function of 2D/3D imaging with 128×128 resolution,25 kHz inter-frame rate,and sub-centimeter ranging precision.

Antihypertensive effects of whey protein hydrolysate involve reshaping the gut microbiome in spontaneously hypertension rats

Novel angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitory peptides were identified from whey protein hydrolysates(WPH)in vitro in our previous study and the antihypertensive abilities of WPH in vivo were further investigated in the current *** indicated that WPH significantly inhibited the development of high blood pressure and tissue injuries caused by *** inhibited ACE activity(20.81%,P<0.01),and reduced renin concentration(P<0.05),thereby reducing systolic blood pressure(SBP)(12.63%,P<0.05)in spontaneously hypertensive *** increased Akkermansia,Bacteroides,and Lactobacillus abundance promoted high short chain fatty acid content in feces after WPH *** changes jointly contributed to low blood *** heart weight and cardiomyocyte injuries(hypertrophy and degeneration)were alleviated by *** proteomic results revealed that 19 protein expressions in the heart mainly associated with the wingless/integrated(Wnt)signaling pathway and Apelin signaling pathway were altered after WPH ***,WPH alleviated serum oxidative stress,indicated by the decreased malondialdehyde content(P<0.01),enhanced total antioxidant capacity(P<0.01)and superoxide dismutase activity(P<0.01).The current study suggests that WPH exhibit promising antihypertensive abilities in vivo and could be a potential alternative for antihypertensive dietary supplements.

A local rainfall-triggered giant landslide occurred in a region along a high-speed railway on the Qinghai‒Tibetan Plateau

An increasing number of geological hazards along high-speed railways on the Qinghai‒Tibetan Plateau have occurred and have resulted in a profound influence on old infrastructure,which has attracted increasing *** landslide event that occurred on September 15,2022,in Jiujiawan village,Xining city,Qinghai Province,is a typical *** on field investigations and remote sensing interpretations,a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the ***,the potential secondary failure of the current Jiujiawan landslide was assessed using Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in Three Dimensions(FLAC3D).Based on the application of the small baseline subset-interferometric synthetic aperture radar(SBAS-InSAR)technique to SAR images from February 24,2017 to September 14,2022,a significant westward horizontal deformation was found to have been formed prior to the occurrence of the *** maximum annual average deformation rate in the line of sight(LOS)direction reached-45 mm/yr,with a maximum cumulative deformation of-178 *** value was consistent with the continual increase in annual precipitation(2.51 mm/yr)prior to the occurrence of the *** accumulated precipitation before the landslide was 279.8 mm,accounting for 54.2%of the total annual precipitation,with a particularly notable surge in monthly precipitation observed during August(250.3 mm).Additionally,the occurrence of a seismic event with a magnitude of Ms 6.9 in Menyuan County,80 km away from Xining,could be a potential triggering factor to the landslide,as evidenced by an abrupt subsidence alteration observed prior to and following the *** maximum subsidence in the line of sight(LOS)direction exceeded 11 mm,exhibiting a highly consistent spatial distribution with the occurrence range of *** results suggest that the Jiujiawan landslide was likely induced by earthquake events in the early stage and heavy rainfall in the later *** FLAC3D numerical

Variations in Column Concentration of Greenhouse Gases in China and Their Response to the 2015-2016 El Niño Event

Since the industrial revolution,enhancement of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations as a result of human activities has been the primary cause of global *** monitoring and evaluation of greenhouse gases are significant prerequisites for carbon emission *** monthly data of global atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and methane(CH4)column concentrations(hereinafter XCO_(2) and XCH_(4),respectively)retrieved by the Greenhouse Gas Observation Satellite(GOSAT),we analyzed the variations in XCO_(2)and XCH_(4)in China during 2010-2022 after confirming the reliability of the ***,the influence of a strong El Niño event in 2015-2016 on XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) variations in China was further *** results show that the retrieved XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) from GOSAT have similar temporal variation trends and significant correlations with the ground observation and emission inventory data of an atmospheric background station,which could be used to assess the variations in XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) in ***_(2) is high in spring and winter while XCH_(4) is high in *** XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) gradually declined from Southeast China to Northwest and Northeast China,with variation ranges of 401-406 and 1.81-1.88 ppmv,respectively;and the high value areas are located in the middle-lower Yangtze River ***_(2) and XCH_(4) in China increased as a whole during 2010-2022,with rapid enhancement and high levels of XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) in several *** significant increases in XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) over China in 2016 might be closely related to the strong El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)event during *** a global warming background in 2015,XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) increased by 0.768%and 0.657%in 2016 in *** analysis reveals that both the XCO_(2) and XCH_(4) variations might reflect the significant impact of the ENSO event on glacier melting in the Tibetan Plateau.

Construction of an alternative NADPH regeneration pathway improves ethanol production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae with xylose metabolic pathway

Full conversion of glucose and xylose from lignocellulosic hydrolysates is required for obtaining a high ethanol ***,glucose and xylose share flux in the pentose phosphate pathway(PPP)and glycolysis pathway(EMP),with glucose having a competitive advantage in the shared metabolic *** this work,we knocked down ZWF1 to preclude glucose from entering the *** reduced the[NADPH]level and disturbed growth on both glucose or xylose,confirming that the oxidative PPP,which begins with Zwf1p and ultimately leads to CO_(2) production,is the primary source of NADPH in both glucose and *** glucose depletion,gluconeogenesis is necessary to generate glucose-6-phosphate,the substrate of *** re-established the NADPH regeneration pathway by replacing the endogenous NAD^(+)-dependent glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH)gene TDH3 with heterogenous NADP^(+)-GAPDH genes GDH,gapB,and *** the resulting strains,the strain BZP1(zwf1Δ,tdh3::GDP1)exhibited a similar xylose consumption rate before glucose depletion,but a 1.6-fold increased xylose consumption rate following glucose depletion compared to the original strain BSGX001,and the ethanol yield for total consumed sugars of BZP1 was 13.5%higher than *** suggested that using the EMP instead of PPP to generate NADPH reduces the wasteful metabolic cycle and excess CO_(2)^(++) release from oxidative ***,we used a copper-repressing promoter to modulate the expression of ZWF1 and optimize the timing of turning off the ZWF1,therefore,to determine the competitive equilibrium between glucose-xylose *** strategy allowed fast growth in the early stage of fermentation and low waste in the following stages of fermentation.

Mutations of voltage-gated sodium channel contribute to pyrethroid resistance in Panonychus citri

Insecticide resistance in Panonychus citri is a major obstacle to mite control in citrus *** insecticides are continually used to control mites in China,although resistance to pyrethroids has evolved in some ***,the resistance to the pyrethroid fenpropathrin was investigated and 7 out of 8 field-collected populations of P citri exhibited a high level of resistance,ranging from 171-fold to 15391-fold higher than the susceptible(SS)comparison *** voltage-gated sodium channel(VGSC)mutations were identified in the tested populations:L1031V,F1747L,and *** sequencing was used to evaluate the frequency of these mutations in the 19 field populations.L1031V and F1751I were present in all populations at frequencies of 11.6%-82.1%and 0.5%-31.8%,respectively,whereas the F1747L mutation was only present in 12 populations from Chongqing,Sichuan,Guangxi,and Yunnan *** of these mutations singly or in combination into transgenic flies significantly increased their resistance to fenpropathrin and these flies also exhibited reduced mortality after exposure to the pyrethroids permethrin andβ-*** citri VGSC homology modeling and ligand docking indicate that F1747 and F1751 form direct binding contacts with pyrethroids,which are lost with mutation,whereas L1031 mutation may diminish pyrethroid effects through an allosteric ***,the results provide molecular markers for monitoring pest resistance to pyrethroids and offer new insights into the basis of pyrethroid actions on sodium channels.
