Fiber morphology with off-standing branches,as found in nature,e.g.,in goose downy feather,provides exquisite functions that can be barely achieved by man-made fiber *** this work,we develop a simple and scalable method for generating downy feather-like para-aramid fibers and *** treating commercial para-aramid microfibers with mild alkaline solution(low concentration of NaOH),a synergistic effect of chemical hydrolysis and physical shearing is successfully triggered to generate abundant nanofiber branches on the surface of para-aramid *** compared with conventional monotonous structures,nonwovens composed of downy feather-like fibers exhibit a typical multiscale fiber morphology,larger specific surface area and smaller pore size,thus showing enhanced particles adsorption capacity(over twice of the pristine nonwoven),excellent oil absorption capacity(increased by~50%),improved air filtration performances(doubled the filtration efficiency)and effective thermal insulation(thermal conductivity=26.1 mW·m^(−1)·K^(−1)).More attractively,the intrinsic flame-retardant nature of para-aramid is well inherited by the downy feather-like fibers,and the fabrication process requires neither sophisticated equipment,nor tedious procedures,making us believe the strong competitiveness of these fibers and assemblies.

Nanofibers prepared by electrospinning technique are extensively applied as building blocks for tissue-engineered scaffolds because of their high resemblance to natural extracellular matrix(ECM)and the capacity to provide more cell contacts than ***,conventional electrospun scaffolds only allow superficial growth of cells in that the size of inter-fiber pores is much smaller than the size of *** taking advantage of the positive correlation between fiber diameter and pore size in fibrous materials,we report here a simple method for fabricating poly-L-lactic acid(PLLA)microfiber scaffold with longitudinally aligned nanogrooves on fiber ***-dimensional(3D)and structurally stable PLLA scaffolds with an average pore size of 16μm were successfully acquired when the fiber diameter was 4.22μ*** topographical cues from nanogrooves ensured fast cell adhesion of scaffolds,whilst the large inter-fiber pores enabled sufficient cell ***,the nanogrooved microfiber scaffold showed improved curative effects of wound healing in a rat skin injury model,making us believe its practical significance in biomedical areas that requires fast cell adhesion and high cell infiltration.

Nano Research volume 13,pages2268–2279(2020)Cite this article 131 Accesses 1 Altmetric Metrics details Abstract Insufficient angiogenesis in the chronic wound of the diabetic is one of the most important causes that making the wound unable to heal *** this work,a cobalt-based metal–organic framework(ZIF-67)was introduced as a carrier for loading a pro-angiogenic small molecular drug(dimethyloxalylglycine,DMOG).To achieve a long-term angiogenic therapy on the diabetic wound beds,a dual cooperative controllable release system has been designed by incorporating the drug-loaded ZIF-67 nanoparticles into the micro-patterned PLLA/Gelatin nanofibrous *** results showed that DMOG was incorporated into ZIF-67 with a high loading ratio(359.12 mg/g),and the drug-loaded ZIF-67 nanoparticles were well embedded in the circular patterned ***,the DMOG as well as Co ions could continuously release from the scaffold for more than 15 *** in vitro studies showed that the released Co ions and DMOG from the micropatterned nanofibrous scaffolds could synergistically promote the proliferation,migration and tube formation of the human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)by inducing a hypoxia response and upregulating the expression of angiogenesis-related genes such as HIF-1α,VEGF and ***,the in vivo results demonstrated that the composite scaffolds could significantly enhance angiogenesis,collagen deposition and eliminate inflammation in the diabetes *** results indicate that the cobalt-based metal–organic framework as a dual cooperative controllable release system provides a new strategy for enhancing angiogenesis and promoting diabetic wound healing.

Disposable hygiene products have evolved into the important parts for millions of people around the world,enhancing the convenience of daily ***,development of the disposable hygiene products is restricted by unsustainable production technology,complicated operation process,and poor liquid absorption performance of the absorbent ***,integrated and three-dimensional(3D)multifunctional superabsorbent nonwovens with liquid-triggered fragrance release was prepared via green,fast and scalable multi efect hot-air anchoring method which physically crosslinking the joint thermobonding fbers and anchoring fragrance microcapsules/super absorbent polymer(SAP)onto adjacent thermo-bonding fbers *** resulting composite nonwovens could three-dimensionally absorb water 33.14 times of its own weight without gel blockage between SAP,and correspondingly release increased intensity fragrance along with enhancing amount of water *** rate t1 and t2 is 83.62%and 50.62%higher than the commercial specimen respectively,and the air permeability is increased by 226.88%compared with the commercial *** superabsorbent nonwovens with controllable fragrance release and odorant synergistic has the potential to be practically applied to functional textiles felds because of the excellent liquid absorption and controlled fragrance release performance,and is easy to be produced on a sustainable,pollution-free and large-scale industrial production.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with orderly porous structure,large surface area,high electrochemical response and chemical tunability have been widely studied for energy conversion and ***,most reported MOFs still suffer from poor stability,insufficient conductivity,and low utilization of active *** strategy to circumvent these issues is to optimize MOFs via designing ***,the design principle from the viewpoint of the intrinsic relationships among various components will be illuminated to acquire the synergistic effects,including two working modes:(1)MOFs with assistant components,(2)MOFs with other function *** review introduces recent research progress of MOF-based composites with their typical applications in energy conversion(catalysis)and storage(supercapacitor and ion battery).Finally,the challenges and future prospects of MOF-based composites will be discussed in terms of maximizing composite properties.
