Chaotic dynamics of the van der Pol-Duffing oscillator subjected to periodic external and parametric excitations with delayed feedbacks are investigated both analytically and numerically in this *** the Melnikov method,the critical value of chaos arising from homoclinic or heteroclinic intersections is derived *** feature of the critical curves separating chaotic and non-chaotic regions on the excitation frequency and the time delay is investigated analytically in *** monotonicity of the critical value to the excitation frequency and time delay is obtained *** is presented that there may exist a special frequency for this *** this frequency,chaos in the sense of Melnikov may not occur for any excitation *** also exists a uncontrollable time delay with which chaos always occurs for this *** simulations are carried out to verify the chaos threshold obtained by the analytical method.

The intrinsic vibrational motion and the rotational behavior of the scissors mode in well deformed nuclei are investigated with an angular-momentum-projected approach,which is interpreted as a generator-coordinatemethod with the generator coordinates corresponding to the degrees of freedom of *** picture of the intrinsic and rotational motion of the scissors mode is illustrated from the collective wave function within the framework of the *** harmonicity of the scissors vibration is found to arise naturally from the present model but can be disturbed by the Coriolis effect as spin *** odd and even spin members of the rotational band based on the scissors mode rotate about different axes perpendicular to each other,leading to the flipping moment of inertia and the consequent splitting behavior that has been suggested previously.

Fibroblast growth factor 19 （FGF19） is a kind of gut-derived postprandial hormone. As an atypical member of the FGF family, FGF19 functions as an endocrine hormone except regulating cell growth and differentiation. FGF19 plays a key role in coordination of liver bile acid biosynthesis and gallbladder motility, and acts as a regulator of metabolic homeostasis, including strengthening insulin sensitivity, decreasing triglyceride concentration and reducing body weight.

Obesity has become one of the most prevalent health issues of our time. According to a 2012 WHO report, around 3.4 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Humans are in fact superorganisms composed of both human and microbial cells with 2 sets of genes, those encoded in our own genome and those encoded in our microbiota. All these cells and genes have the potential to influence our health.

The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are increasing worldwide and seriously threaten human life and *** growth factor 21(FGF21),a metabolic regulator,regulates glucose and lipid metabolism and may exert beneficial effects on the cardiovascular *** recent years,FGF21 has been found to act directly on the cardiovascular system and may be used as an early biomarker of *** present review highlights the recent progress in understanding the relationship between FGF21 and CVDs including coronary heart disease,myocardial ischemia,cardiomyopathy,and heart failure and also explores the related mechanism of the cardioprotective effect of ***21 plays an important role in the prediction,treatment,and improvement of prognosis in *** cardioprotective effect of FGF21 may be achieved by preventing endothelial dysfunction and lipid accumulating,inhibiting cardiomyocyte apoptosis and regulating the associated oxidative stress,inflammation and *** conclusion,FGF21 is a promising target for the treatment of CVDs,however,its clinical application requires further clarification of the precise role of FGF21 in CVDs.

Overweight or obesity has become a serious public health problem in the world, scientists are concentrating their efforts on exploring novel ways to treat obesity. Nowadays, the availabilities of bariatric surgery and pharmacotherapy have enhanced obesity treatment, but it should has support from diet, physical exercise and lifestyle modification, especially the functional food. Resistant starch, an indigestible starch, has been studied for years for its beneficial effects on regulating blood glucose level and lipid metabolism. The aim of this review is to summarize the effect of resistant starch on weight loss and the possible mechanisms. According to numerous previous studies it could be concluded that resistant starch can reduce fat accumulation, enhance insulin sensitivity, regulate blood glucose level and lipid metabolism. Recent investigations have focused on the possible associations between resistant starch and incretins as well as gut microbiota. Resistant starch seems to be a promising dietary fiber for the prevention or treatment of obesity and its related diseases.

Promoting white adipose tissue(WAT)browning and enhancing brown adipose tissue(BAT)activity are attractive therapeutic strategies for obesity and its metabolic *** sympathetic innervation in WAT and BAT represents a promising therapeutic ***,there are few reports on extracellular microenvironment remodeling,especially changes in nerve terminal *** the key molecules mediating the neuro-adipose synaptic junctions is a key *** this study,we used bioinformatics methods to identify the differentially expressed predicted secreted genes(DEPSGs)during WAT browning and BAT *** DEPSGs largely reflect changes of cytokines,extracellular matrix remodeling,vascularization,and adipocyteneuronal *** then performed functional enrichment and cellular distribution specificity *** upregulated and downregulated DEPDGs during WAT browning displayed a distinctive biological pattern and cellular *** listed a cluster of adipocyte-enriched DEPSGs,which might participate in the cross-talk between mature adipocytes and other cells;then identified a synaptogenic adhesion molecule,Clstn3,as the top gene expressed enriched in both mature white and brown *** Q-PCR and immunohistochemistry,we found significantly increased Clstn3 expression level during WAT browning and BAT activation in mice subjected to cold exposure(4℃).We further demonstrated that treatment with isoproterenol significantly increased Clstn3 and UCP1 expression in differentiated white and beige adipocytes in *** conclusion,our study demonstrates that the secretion pattern was somewhat different between WAT browning and BAT *** reveal that Clstn3 may be a key gene mediating the neuro-adipose junction formation or remodeling in WAT browning and BAT activation process.

Association of A Common Haplotype of Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1α With Type 2 Diabetes in Chinese Population

Objective To analyze the association of variants of hepatocyte nuclear factor-1α （HNF-1α） gene with type 2 diabetes in Chinese population. Methods In 152 unrelated type 2 diabetes patients and 93 unrelated controls, eleven single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） were identified and genotyped. Statistical analyses were performed to investigate whether these SNPs were associated with diabetes status in our samples. Results In the individual SNP study, no SNP differed significantly in frequency between type 2 diabetes patients and controls. In the haplotype analysis, two haplotype blocks were identified. In haplotype block 1, no evidence was found between common HNF-1α haplotypes and type 2 diabetes. However, in haplotype block 2, a common haplotype GCGC formed by four tagging SNPs （tSNPs） was found to be associated with decreased risk of type 2 diabetes （odds ratio [OR] 0.6011, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.4138-0.8732, P=0.0073, empirical P=0.0511, permutation test）. A similar trend was also observed in the diplotype analysis, indicating that the increasing copy number of the haplotype GCGC was associated with the decreased frequency of diabetes （P=0.0193）. Conclusion The results of this study provide evidence that the haplotype of HNF-1α decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes in Chinese individuals.
