Effect of m.gnetic Field on Kelvin-Helm.oltz Instability in a Couple-Stress Fluid Layer Bounded Above by a Porous Layer and Below by a Rigid Surface

Kelvin-Helm.oltz instability (KHI) appears in stratified two-fluid flow at surface. When the relative velocity is higher than the critical relative velocity, the growth of waves occurs. It is found that m.gnetic field has a stabilization effect whereas the buoyancy force has a destabilization effect on the KHI in the presence of sharp inter-face. The RT instability increases with wave num.er and flow shear, and acts m.ch like a KHI when destabilizing effect of sheared flow dom.nates. It is shown that both of ablation velocity and m.gnetic field have stabilization effect on RT instability in the presence of continued interface. In this paper, we study the effect of m.gnetic field on Kelvin-Helm.oltz instability (KHI) in a Couple-stress fluid layer above by a porous layer and below by a rigid surface. A sim.le theory based on fully developed flow approxim.tions is used to derive the dispersion relation for the growth rate of KHI. We replace the effect of boundary layer with Beavers and Joseph slip condition at the rigid surface. The dispersion relation is derived using suitable boundary and surface conditions and results are discussed graphically. The stabilization effect of m.gnetic field takes place for whole waveband and becom.s m.re significant for the short wavelength. The growth rate decreases as the density scale length increases. The stabilization effect of m.gnetic field is m.re significant for the short density scale length.

Background The im.act of changing land-use patterns and associated anthropogenic threats on scale-dependent habitat use of sem.-aquatic m.stelids in scent-m.rking and social behaviour can provide im.ortant insights into the habitat ecology of sm.oth-coated otters(Lutrogale perspicillata).m.thods We sam.led 180 stream.segm.nts(100–400 m. as spatial replicates of 60 1-km. sites to record indirect evidence(i.e. spraints and m.ss latrine sites) and group sizes of sm.oth-coated otters along the Tungabhadra Otter Conservation Reserve(TOCR) during the dry season. To quantify habitat, we recorded stream.characteristics, riparian vegetation, and anthropogenic disturbances at the local scale, and hydro-environm.ntal characteristics and land uses at the landscape scale. Using m.rkovian-chain detection and occupancy m.dels, we assessed the m.lti-scale habitat use of otters in their selection of suitable areas for scent-m.rking based on repeated presence-absence data on spraint/latrine locations along the TOCR. We further used linear regression techniques to explore relationships between the num.er of individuals in sm.oth-coated otter group and hydro-environm.ntal characteristics, spraint/latrine encounter rate, anthropogenic pressure, land cover, topography, and *** At the local scale, the probability of spraint deposition and group size decreased with anthropogenic disturbance while the probability of spraint detections decreased with grass cover. Objective:To evaluate the anticancer activity of the m.thanolic extract of Cyathula prostrata in Ehrlich ascites carcinom.(EAC)-bearing m.ce with m.thotrexate as positive control in the advanced stage of ***:EAC was induced in swiss albino m.ce by injecting10~6 cell/m. of tum.r cell suspension *** m.thanolic extract of Cyathula prostrata effect on the tum.r cell viability,DNA fragm.ntation and m.T assay were carried ***:m.thanolic extract attenuated percentage increased in the cell survival lim. when com.ared to control ***,the effect was less than that of *** and the extracts reversed the tum.r-induced alterations in UNA fragm.ntation and m.T ***:The present study suggests that the m.thanol extract of Cyathula prostrata has significant anticancer activity and that is com.arable to that of m.thotrexate.

Photom.tric investigation of eight ultra-short period eclipsing binaries from.OGLE

We perform.d a detailed photom.tric analysis of eight ultra-short period eclipsing binaries(USPEBs) using the Wilson-Devinney m.thod. We present the m.deled light curves and derived photom.tric solutions. The USPEBs with period(P)≤0.21 d considered in our study belong to W-subtype having shallow contact factor(f)m.ss ratio(q)>~0.7 and later spectral types. The absolute param.ters for these short-period binaries were derived applying em.irical relations. We discuss the evolutionary stage of these USPEBs using the m.ss-radius, color-density and period-color diagram.. The objects showed poor m.tallicities, and som. objects were even found to be existing around fully convective lim.ts. The period distribution of USPEBs exhibited a sharp cut-off at 0.22 d;however, we observed significant deficits for our objects in the literature. We exam.ned the statistics of USPEBs studied to date(in term. of the distribution of period, m.ss ratio and com.onent tem.eratures of USPEBs) and observed that a dom.nant distribution of com.onent tem.eratures for these USPEBs was towards lower tem.eratures.

Overexpression of TaNAC69 Leads to Enhanced Transcript Levels of Stress Up-Regulated Genes and Dehydration Tolerance in Bread Wheat

NAC proteins are plant-specific transcription factors and enriched with m.m.ers involved in plant response to drought stress. In this study, we analyzed the expression profiles of TaNAC69 in bread wheat using Affym.trix Wheat Genom. Array datasets and quantitative RT-PCR. TaNAC69 expression was positively associated with wheat responses to both abiotic and biotic stresses and was closely correlated with a num.er of stress up-regulated genes. The functional analyses of TaNAC69 in transgenic wheat showed that TaNAC69 driven by a barley drought-inducible HvDhn4s prom.ter led to m.rked drought-inducible overexpression of TaNAC69 in the leaves and roots of transgenic lines. The HvDhn4s：Ta- NAC69 transgenic lines produced m.re shoot biom.ss under com.ined m.ld salt stress and water-lim.tation conditions, had longer root and m.re root biom.ss under polyethylene glycol-induced dehydration. Analysis of transgenic lines with constitutive overexpression of TaNAC69 showed the enhanced expression levels of several stress up-regulated genes. DNA-binding assays revealed that TaNAC69 and its rice hom.log （ONAC131） were capable of binding to the prom.ter elem.nts of three rice genes （chitinase, Zlm. and glyoxalase I） and an Arabidopsis glyoxalase I fam.ly gene, which are hom.logs of TaNAC69 up-regulated stress genes. These data suggest that TaNAC69 is involved in regulating stress upregulated genes and wheat adaptation to drought stress.
