A Rare Case of Fracture of Radius Associated with Dislocation of Both Distal and Proximal Radio-Ulnar Joint

Single bone forearm fractures are usually associated with dislocation of one radio-ulnar joint. The association of ulnar fractures with dislocation of proximal radio-ulnar joint and radius fractures with distal radio-ulnar joint is well described. Classically they are better known as Monteggia and Galeazzi fracture dislocations respectively. These peculiar presentations are attributed to intricate relationship of the forearm bones joined together as a unit by two radio-ulnar joints at proximal and distal ends and the interosseous membrane in the middle part. However, simultaneous dislocation of the both radio-ulnar joints associated with fracture of single bone is a very rare event. Literature search does not reveal a single case of such type. We are presenting here a case of fracture shaft of radius associated with dislocation of both proximal and distal radio-ulnar joints. The patient was managed by open reduction and fixation of the radius by a compression plate and the dislocations were reduced by closed method and stabilized with small K wires.

Here we study a problem of stabilization of the flexural vibrations or transverse vibrations of a rectangular solar panel. The dynamics of vibrations is governed by the fourth order Euler-Bernoulli beam equation. One end of the panel is held by a rigid hub and other end is totally free. Due to attachment of the hub, its dynamics leads to a non-standard equation. The exponential stabilization of the whole system is achieved by applying an active boundary control force only on the rigid hub. The result of uniform stabilization is obtained by means of an explicit form of exponential energy decay estimate.

This study reports preparation of glass composition （54.50 wt.%） SiO2, （10.80 wt.%） B2O3, （14.20 wt.%） Na2O, （1.20 wt.%） K2O, （6.00 wt.%） CaO, （4.00 wt.%） Fe2O3 and （9.30 wt.%） TiO2 by melt quenching method using direct microwave heating and conventional resistive heating. Study of dielectric loss factor of the glass as function of temperature illustrated increasing loss factor above 370 ℃, 550 ℃, 650 ℃ and 900 ℃, indicating enhanced microwave absorption by the glass at above these temperatures. Chemical analysis results of both the glasses depicted more volatilization loss of volatile ingredients in conventional heating. The study of chemical durability was performed from leachate analysis describing less leaching of Na2O, K2O and other constituents from glass melted in microwave furnace. Glass transition temperatures （Tg） were found to be 576.3 ℃ and 569.5 ℃ for glass melted in conventional and microwave heating route, respectively. Laboratory experiment of glass melting utilizing microwave energy as an alternate heating source demonstrated 70%-75% electrical power saving.

Citrate-nitrate autocombustion process is a promising synthesis route in the field of nanomaterials. This route involves many controlling parameters which ultimately affect properties of the products. In the present research work, the effect of concentration of fuel to that of metal nitrates has been studied in a systematic manner. The nature of exothermic reaction was analyzed with DSC-TGA and the powder properties were characterized by XRD, TEM and BET measurement. The properties of the powders have been explained with respect to fuel content, vigorousness of the exothermic reaction, combustion temperature and duration. The most vigorous reaction was found to occur for the composition with FER of 0.50 with the production of the smallest crystallite size of 9 nm.

Rectangular Microstrip Antenna with Air Cavity for High Gain and Improved Front to Back Ratio

A rectangular microstrip patch antenna using conventional Poly Tetra Fluride Ethelene (PTFE) substrate with air cavity is proposed and theoretically investigated. Considerably high gain along with improved front to back radiation isolation is demonstrated using such proposed antenna. The radiation performance of this new antenna has been compared to a conventional microstrip patch for some commonly used aspect ratios (width to length ratio). Compared to conventional microstrip antenna the proposed configuration shows more than 12% increment in peak gain and more than 10% increment in front to back radiation performance in each set of aspect ratio. The elucidation of such improvement in the radiation characteristics of the proposed antenna is also presented.

We have synthesized mannich base cyclohexanone using microwave irradiation method,and studied their pharma-cological *** on analytical and spectral(IR,NMR and Mass) data,a number of mono as well as double mannich base cyclohexanones have been synthesized from primary and secondary amines and formaldehyde,and then purified and characterized. The required 3-aryl-2,4-diacetyl-5-hydroxy-5-methylcyclohexanone was prepared from appropriate aldehyde and acetylacetone. The synthesized compounds were screened for analgesic activity via standard approaches,and they have shown positive analgesic activity.
