Substrate effect on morphology and photoluminescence from ZnO monopods and bipods

A simple wet chemical bath deposition has been successfully deployed to fabricate zinc oxide(ZnO)nanostructures. For substrate free growth, the nanostructure is spindle like monopods. But when the nanostructures grow on the glass and quartz substrates, they are bipods(two monopods joined together base to base). Variation in the size of the spindles of the monopods and bipods and the particle size was observed due to the strain exists in the thin film due to lattice mismatch at the interface of the thin film and the substrates. The X-ray diffraction(XRD) and selected area diffraction results confirmed the hexagonal unit cell structures of the monopods and bipods. Also the growth rates of various planes are different and the growth is anisotropic. The substrate free grown monopods show visible photoluminescence(PL) at 421 nm. But the emission gets shifted by 3 and 6 nm for ZnO thin film deposited on quartz and glass substrates respectively due to interfacial strain. In case of ZnO on quartz substrate a strong ultra-violet(UV) peak was observed at 386 nm due to band edge transition. These emissions are also accompanied by few weaker emission peaks due to various defect related transition.

Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Science seem very promising and developing rapidly since its inception in early 1980s by Paul Benioff with the proposal of quantum mechanical model of the Turing machine and later By Richard Feynman and Yuri Manin for the proposal of a quantum computers for simulating various problems that classical computer could *** computers have a computational advantage for some problems,over classical computers and most applications are trying to use an efficient combination of classical and quantum computers like Shor’s factoring *** areas that are expected to be benefitted from quantum computing are Machine Learning and deep learning,molecular biology,genomics and cancer research,space exploration,atomic and nuclear research and macro-economic *** paper represents a brief overview of the state of art of quantum computing and quantum information science with discussions of various theoretical and experimental aspects adopted by the researchers.

Optimal pricing, replenishment scheduling, and preservation technology investment policy for multi-item deteriorating inventory model under shortages

In a wholesale shop,the retailer is required to keep an inventory of various ranges of a product due to uncertainty in consumer preferences and *** Economic Order Quantity(EOQ)models for each variety of a product are needed for optimum level of *** model decides how much stock a shopkeeper has to store,according to demand and deterioration of different items to optimize the inventory policy of multiple *** like fashion,food,vegetables,pharmaceuticals,etc.,deteriorate in the retailer’s warehouse during *** investment is required in preservation technology to significantly reduce the deterioration rate,reduce economic losses,and increase business ***,a multi-item deteriorating EOQ model with a fixed cycle duration has been developed incorporating the preservation *** demands for the items are a quadratic function of the selling price,and shortages are *** main objective is to determine the optimal selling price,investment under preservation,the time length up to zero inventory,order quantity of the proposed inventory model such that the overall profit will be ***,we prove that the optimal selling price and investment in preservation exist and are ***,the total profit per unit time is a concave function of selling price and preservation technology *** algorithm is designed to obtain the optimum joint policy.A numerical example has been given to illustrate the model,and sensitivity analysis is conducted,which gives some managerial insights.

Supply chain management coordinates different strategies for the production *** manufacturer requires some incentive schemes to motivate the retailer to change his policy,optimal for the whole *** paper suggests a discount mechanism by which companies can coordinate their ordering and pricing strategies throughout a supply chain model with a single manufacturer and single ***,the demand curve is iso-elastic price *** members have decided their selling price and order quantity jointly and independently to maximize the supply chain profit.A coordination mechanism is proposed based on quantity discounts to correlate pricing and ordering strategies *** decentralized case is analyzed under the manufacturer-Stackelberg game *** result of numerical investigation shows that the suggested discount mechanism has improved the supply chain profit as well as each channel member’s profit in comparison with the centralized and decentralized decisions without discount.
